I am extremely disappointed in the Marriott's Residence Inn in North Conway. We have been staying at this hotel since it opened years and years ago. It has always been our go-to choice. On our trip earlier this week my husband and I were so put off by this hotel from the check-in process to the room and breakfast. Everything has gone down hill. We booked a 2-bedroom suite for ourselves and infant, upon arriving at the hotel at 3:15 PM we were told we needed to wait 10 minutes because there wasn't a room available for us. After 40 minutes of waiting in the lobby, the furniture in the lobby looks nice from afar but when you actually get closer the couch is all stained and the fabric is wearing off of the chairs, where not one employee gave us an update on the room and we could hear them whispering about how there wasnt a room available we were told they had found a room for us. The manager was on duty and passed by us multiple times and did not apologize to us once and she was well aware of the situation. I had to change our 11 month old in the ladies bathroom in the lobby on the floor because there was no changing table in the bathrooms. Before going into the bathroom I asked the staff at the desk if there was a changing table in the bathroom and I was told yes. Our total cost for the suite was $360.00 per night and we stayed in room 311. Upon entering our room there was food on the floor, the counters all had burn marks, the vanities in both bathrooms and kitchen had lots of paint chips, there were crumbs in our kitchen sink, the couch was the most uncomfortable piece of furniture I have ever sat on, the shower had extremely large cracks in the tile and the bathroom lights were so dull that I had a hard time shaving my legs, the water pressure was amazing for a hotel in the shower. The beds in this hotel now feel like you are sleeping on a board and both myself and my husband did not sleep well from back pain. The bedding was very nice and does look more updated. The morning breakfast is not great, microwaved sausage and bacon. Needless to say these hotel rooms and the hotel in general need updating/renovations and are not worth the cost. We are extremely disappointed in the Marriott and will never be staying here again. If you are looking for a hotel room i suggest you look elsewhere there are multiple brand new hotels that have been or are being built within walking distance with much...
Read moreI would like to provide the Residence Inn North Conway General Manager and the employees with the level of feedback that they deserve. My perspective comes from 40 years of frequent business and family travel as a Marriott Rewards member. We reserved multiple rooms at Residence Inn North Conway for an active family vacation; biking, river tubing, and attractions.
As first impressions go, it started off with the most friendly and accommodating front desk staff who were dealing with multiple check-ins, slightly early, where they coordinated with the housekeeping staff and had a great system for keeping the guests informed. The front desk staff were proactively attentive to the needs of guests, which speaks to their empathy and attention to detail. Besides the first shift star performers working the front desk on Monday, the woman working the second and third shift were as helpful and engaging as a Marriott concierge. The young woman who started her shift at the front desk before 11PM was cheerful walking in, and similarly cheerful walking out after 7:00AM!
The Residence Inn North Conway food workers at night and in the morning are very organized and demonstrate attention to details, which speaks to professionalism, and frankly, unlike that of competing properties. For example, besides the quality of the food, the food was displayed well and looked clean and fresh right down to the end of breakfast (unlike competing brands that let the breakfast area deteriorate without replenishment, which is a big âturn-offâ for people who tend to eat later). Also, our family members have celiacs disease (canât eat gluten), and it was clear staff recognize the importance of accommodating people with that common health issue.
With respect to their housekeeping and general maintenance staff, all of our rooms were like walking into a model apartment, with everything in working order, clean and in itâs place. Both the housekeeping and maintenance person that we interacted with were very helpful, with a friendly/positive attitude. Even the workers we passed in the hallways were saying hello or giving us a friendly smile when passing by. A very welcoming feeling.
In summary, I highly recommend this hotel for those who value quality accommodations and friendly first class service on a family budget. The management and staff at Residence Inn North Conway are as...
Read moreWe are from southern NH, so a hotel stay isnât absolutely necessary for us when making a trip to North Conway. The amenities of the hotel, the spaciousness of the rooms, friendliness of the staff and its proximity to all things make it worth staying. The kitchens are well stocked with everything you could need to make breakfast, lunch or dinner for one or a family. (Food not included obviously)
From the moment we walked in i was impressed! We were greeted by Tristen who checked us in, provided us with a snack and water that came with our booking package. She was extremely polite and happy to answer all questions we had during check in about the hotel itâs events (we were there for Easter) as well as town event was wonderful.
The breakfast is more than one might expect from a hotel with in room kitchens. The breakfast staff were also exceptionally nice, stopping at every table asking if anyone needed things. Assisting people in finding what they needed in the room with the food. Generously offering to remove trash from the table. Jim was working the morning we had breakfast and I was just blown away with his smile and service to hotel guests myself and family included.
It was also Easter morning for which they had an Easter Egg hunt for guests of the hotel. Kristen I believe a manager not really sure was so good with the kids and excited about the event. Often you find staff just going with the moves, not Kristen she was amazing sharing genuine excitement for the experience with all the families. I know Kristen had a helper that laid those eggs đ„ just right for the kids to find, and I canât recall her name but she too was wonderful. She had worked at night in the conference turned movie room, that also had fresh popcorn đż for those participants or any guest for that matter.
Overall 10/10 Id highly recommend this location to anyone looking to stay in North Conway. Theirs a newer partner property just a few miles away, but itâs much smaller and not the same amenities as the Residence line but itâs worth the cost difference hand over fist!
That said we will definitely be back again âŠprobably during every...
