We are temporarily homeless. My previous landlord needed my apartment for her family member 😞.
Sleeping in a car when both of us are disabled and one of us is diabetic and recovering from surgery to keep the heart beating.
We wasted so much money on uhaul trucks, vans, boxes, storage units, helpers @ $100 each a day, and no place to go.
Using gas to run the car to keep us warm day & night and 5 days in 2 different hotels/2 different stays in MA.
It was not a good stay in Massachusetts. My medicine bag was stolen from the Hilton, but I'm still not recovered from the move.
We stood at the Best Western for 2 days with poor plumbing. The situation wasn't handled properly, but no compensation. I just got apologies from one desk clerk.
We ended up back in the car, but the diabetic, cardiac patient left their meds in the storage unit on a hot sun but cold 🥶 day. We got the meds and went to McDonald's to refresh ourselves.
The diabetic ran into McDonald's for ice water, then became sick with severe hand & leg pain. I heard call 911, and they came fast. The patient was severely dehydrated and very low Pottassium.
We were there for 4 hrs, then released. I think by St Patrick's day, I woke up and saw my best friend sleeping with their face on the steering wheel.
It was 8 a.m., and I had enough of Massachusetts. I told my friend, " we are out of here!"
I heard where, too... I replied, " FOXRIDGE RESORT!" I got a smile 😃 and we were off.
I went on priceline . com and found out I could stay 5 nights for $300.00, yippee 🎉🎉🎉.
I used my ebt to fill the little refrigerator full, and I applied for several apartments. We went to Wal-Mart to get bathing suits but never made it to the pool.
The rates rose for Friday & and Saturday, but we couldn't afford the triple price. If I wasn't in such a financial bind, then we would have stayed at the " FOXRIDGE ".
My room had 2 beds, 2 bureaus, a small refrigerator with a small freezer, a coffee maker, with 2 kinds of coffee & tea. There was a folding door to the rear of the room with 2 single beds.
I woke up to my friend on the twin size bed 🛌. I asked "why you would leave a queen bed for a twin? "...reply was " it's cooler in here.
I could have lowered the heat, lol, geez. My days were filled with going back and forth to the realtor. I wanted to really sleep for 3 days 😴 but I am looking forward to my own place.
Our money is tied up with one account negative over $400.00. I hope this doesn't affect our approval for apartments, but one of us used our ATM card at the Hilton, not me, lol.
I was able to get permission to stay with my son in ME for 14 days. We have 3 days left, then back to the car, and MA.
I wish I had friends or family who would let us sleep on their couch or take a shower, but some didn't respond. Some gave reasons that could have been resolved, some have plenty of rooms, and all in all, I can't worry about them anymore. It is what it is 😔...
How would you survive homelessness in the winter? I'm just curious 🤔...
FoxRidge, you rock, and I will be back so we can try your pool, eat your free breakfast, enjoy my "Tubby Time,"
I gave 4 stars because of no tissues, tp, the last 2 days, according to the female desk clerk.
Sorry, I have to go. BTW, I definitely will be going back to the FOXRIDGE 4 hrs from MA 🙏 🤲 👼🙏🤲👼🙏🤲👼👼👼
Re: Pray for us to get an affordable...
Read moreThe booking and check-in process was smooth and easy. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which honestly was the highlight of my stay.
The room itself was spacious and came with a small fridge, coffee maker, very useful touches that I appreciated. The TV was an older flat screen, but functional. One downside was the cleanliness: the sink had not been cleaned properly, and there was hair in the shower, which made me question the overall housekeeping standards. During my stay, there was no housekeeping service provided, which I understand is common in this area. Also you can hear very easily when walking through the hallway way, the TVs and people talking inside of the rooms.
The property as a whole is showing its age. For a place called a "resort," it really needs renovations, especially with so many nearby hotels that have been updated. The outdoor areas and amenities in particular were disappointing. The children’s playground was poorly maintained and resembled something store-bought rather than resort-quality. It was also located at the end of one of the hotel wings which is a long walk for those in the other wing. The place was filled with families but not a single kid in the playground. That by itself should tell you something. It should be moved to the center of the buildings nearby the outdoor pool.
The mini golf course was rundown, with peeling turf, cracked edging, and faded surfaces—at the very least, a fresh coat of paint would improve it. The arcade was outdated too; the old machines had screens that were hard to see, and charging guests to play on them felt unreasonable given the condition. Adding to the awkwardness, the arcade shared a space with the guest laundry and staff laundry entrance, making the room noisy, hot, and unpleasant.
The indoor pool also looked old and uninviting, with stained walls that gave the impression it wasn’t very clean. One of the biggest disappointments was the hot tub being closed. This was advertised as part of the amenities and was one of the reasons I chose the property, so finding it unavailable was frustrating.
Service could use improvement as well. I requested extra items for my room that were never brought, which felt like a simple but important oversight.
On the positive side, the continental breakfast was decent, though adding hot chocolate and waffles for kids would go a long way (I heard multiple families asking for this). The toasters also need updating—they were so slow that many guests, myself included, skipped having a bagel because of the wait.
The location is excellent, and the property itself is large enough to enjoy a morning run, which I liked. Parking, however, was a bit too far from the main building for convenience.
Overall: This hotel has a lot of potential thanks to its size and location, but it desperately needs investment in renovations and better upkeep of its amenities to truly live up to the "resort" label. Until then, it feels more like a budget hotel with friendly staff rather than a full resort experience. I would stay here again but it would be at the bottom of my choices, unless it gets renovated and properly fulfills the resort part.
Would you like me to make a shorter version too, something quick and to the point for Google Reviews or TripAdvisor?

Read moreI'll get to the point quickly. This was once a resort and now it's a ghost of a resort. Let me explain. First of all, the staff that we interacted with was nice and this review shouldn't take away from their positive service. The current state of the facility makes you wonder how it used to be in its hay day. After checking in, you drive up to your entrance and you have to unload your belongings then park a distance away. The parking is not well lit. The entrance is NOT secure. Technically anyone could walk through. Your hotel room is locked and must be entered with a standard key. The locks are generic.
We got a double queen sized bed room with a mountain view. (The view was technically there but blocked a little bit by weed overgrowth.) We also requested a crib for our one year old but were told when we registered that it was not available. (If you're slept with a one year old, you know how much that child will move around at night.) Anyway, the room size was decent and the sink area to your immediate left showed promise for a good bathroom. The bathroom located separately and is basic. The toilet and tub is cheaper than some residential apartments in low income housing. The toilet had a weak flush and fill. There may be a good reason for that...(refer to the moldy toilet tank in the pictures). The shower also have a weak flow or the shower head needed to be replaced.
As far as the beds, they were horrible. The springs collapsed immediately and there is no firmness. The pillows had no firmness to them as well. The walls are also pretty hollow so the guests above us could be heard very clearly. Sleeping was difficult. For amenities, the fridge was functional but needed to be defrosted. There's a communal microwave, so none in the room. There was a coffee maker, iron, and blow dryer. You have a tv with basic cable which was fine. There is free wifi but it's slow. There is an AC unit. I wish I was able to shut it off because it was kind of loud. The last night of our stay, it got cold at night so we really didn't need it on.
For the extra perk, there was an indoor/outdoor pool, game room, mini golf, and a playground for the kids. (The indoor pool might have been heated but it was hard to tell.) Those extras make up for some of the shortcomings. The mini golf needed to be refurbished because the play area was a bit run down. In order to use the pool, you have to use their towels but have to wait for the front attendant to provide the towels. I think it would have been fine for them to have some available near the pool. Breakfast was provided though I wish there was more variety. It made feeding the kids a little more difficult.
The reason I gave three stars is that this was one of the more affordable options in the area. It's actually located around many of the restaurants and outlet stores plus minutes away from Storyland. I think that if some of the issues we experienced were addressed, this resort could return to a resort status. For now, I would consider it as the cheap option you can deal with if you plan to be out...
