I had initially booked for two nights, and called about early check in just in hopes to avoid the incoming storm. The first lady I spoke to said this would not be a problem as there were many empty rooms, but to call back that afternoon just to confirm when the cleaning lady would get to our room. I called back when she said and was greeted by Chris. I was met with nothing but condescending attitude. He stated we could head on up (a 3 hour drive) whenever we wanted and see what the status was - he could not confirm that we’d be able to check in but said we could give it a shot - his attitude laughing as this was some joke to him. Not wanting to be stuck waiting around for early check in or wanting to deal w Chris’s run around anymore we just paid for an additional night so we could check in a few hours earlier than planned. So, in the end we stayed 2/12-2/15/25. I paid for the larger king sized room in hopes of getting one of the more updated rooms - featured on their website/ad. That did not happen, I asked at the desk if there were someway to request the updated room being that the larger size had nothing to do w it, she informed me it was luck of the draw. Thought that was pretty unfortunate.
First off I’d say if you’re searching for a cheap affordable price, this is the spot. However, if cleanliness is high up on your list of must haves I’d have to recommend you spend the extra money and look anywhere else. Where to start, the smell. Very glad I always bring a candle whenever I travel cause the room smelt musty and just bad. The uncarpeted area around the entrance and bathroom cannot be walked on barefoot, like it’s never been mopped or even swept, the grit you feel is not pleasant. Had to wear slippers our entire stay. The hearing unit in the wall was gross, dusty and grimey. I will say the bed was super cozy, the pillows too. Sheets felt great. The porch area was dated and minimal but very nice to have just to get some fresh air in this cold weather - also helped to air out the rooms stink. The shower was pretty gross, had brown stains along the floor, the shower curtain was dirty and mildewy. The fan in the bathroom didn’t work and the shower head could have really used a cleaning. Mold in all the corners of the bathroom. The WORST PART, cockroaches!!! I didn’t even notice that the 3+ little bugs I crushed in the bathroom sink were babies. It wasn’t until my husband squished one on the ceiling and found two dead ones in the fridge that we realized what they actually were. Unfortunately we didn’t figure out the 2+2=bugs until the last day, but boy were we eager to leave then. Actually terrified we are going to bring some of these nasty bugs home w us. Upon departure we were given an email to write to while the person in front of us was being fully refunded for their stay, thought that was interesting.
I have reached out to management - let’s see what they do with this. OVER A WEEK LATER...
Read moreOur hotel stay was less than ideal. First, we were placed in a building that was under construction. There was broken dressers, plywood, door screens littered around the area. Second, i paid for a balcony room, however, I was on the first floor and ot was more of a patio on the parking lot. When I got into the room, it was poorly lit. I tired to turn on all the lights. One lamp was placed in an area where there was no outlet. Next, our toilet was clogged and not working. We called the front desk who stated she would see if the maintenance worker was still there to come and fix it. She stated she would call back and let us know. However, there was no such callback received. We then had to contact the front desk ourselves to ask about the status of getting the toilet fixed. We were informed at the maintenance worker was no longer on the property as it was 9:30 at night. The front desk person offered zero solutions on how to rectify the issue. We were not offered to change rooms nor was there any solution provided. My husband had to volunteer to attempt to fix the toilet. If the front desk person would bring us a plunger and supplies. It took her sometime to locate the necessary items, however she did bring them to the room. There was no back up blan recommended to rectify this issue should the current plan fail. My husband was able to fix the toilet. No follow up from the front desk was given to ensure we were taken care of. The woman was nice but she seemed to lack resources and was poorly trained to do her job. We did use the indoor pool which was nice, however there were many people there and not enough towels to go around and they were not being refilled. Some of our outlets in our room were non functioning which in todays modern age is very inconvenient for charging multiple devices. Last, all the doors in the place functioned very poorly. They did not open all the time when you used the key card and they had to be manhandled to be opened and closed. This went for the door to the building as well as the room. Our room was near the entrance/exit and we had to listen to the door jamming all night long as other people used it. Checking out was also not ideal as the front desk worker was not at the desk and I had to wait. The people in front of me were clearly frustrated with the service they were receiving. Someone was walking around and said they worked there and told me to just put the room key on the desk. This did not feel secure to me, however, I had no other options. There were many negatives to my stay, however the breakfast was ok, room was semi clean (dust noted on lamp on nightstand and bathroom could use a lottle more thorough cleaning), mini fridge was good, temperature in room was good, and sheets seemed ok. Beds were crazy low to the ground...
Read moreThe staff was so nice and so helpful that I feel bad giving it 4 stars, but unfortunately I have to. For families it is a 5. For couples it is a 3. There's my math.
The GOOD: It's a great value for what you pay. Booking was a breeze. Location was nice if you want to shop. It's right in the middle of the outlets. It's far enough off the road that it isn't too noisy. If you asked my 5 year old, he'd give a zillion stars because it had a semi-separate little room with bunk beds for them. It was pretty sweet and allowed me to work on my computer at night without disturbing them. The NOT SO GOOD: I was traveling solo with 2 kids (5,12). In my section of the hotel, the rooms were clean but tired. They need updating. At first, they put me in a room that had not been cleaned. Honest mistake that they very quickly remedied by moving me to another room, but still a PITA after driving 4 hours. My bed was super comfy, but the kids bunks were pretty awful. The mattresses were so thin that my daughter said she could feel the springs pushing through. I confirmed. Luckily their Dad (that's me) is resourceful. I went back to the room they tried to put us in first and stole the bunk mattresses from that room. Suddenly, the bunks were SUPER comfy with 2 layers of mattresses. My kids were impressed.
The next problem was the pool. First, there was a group of 12 Canadian basketball players that consumed the entire jacuzzi for the 2 hours we were there. I know, right?! Canadien "basketball" players?! Don't they know that they're supposed to play hockey?! What kind of crazies do the let in this place?! But seriously, no marks off to Green Granite Inn for that, obviously. The pool was nice, but about 100yds away from my room and we had to walk OUTSIDE in the freezing cold to get there. I checked into this place on crutches and with my 2 kids raving about how excited they were to go swimming, yet the staff still chose to put me in a room that was among the 5 rooms farthest away from the pool. Maybe they were all booked. They did apologize profusely. I made the best of it, but about half of the Inn (motel) does NOT need to go outside to the pool. You should ask for those rooms. In summary, this is not a $300/night hotel. For what you pay, it is great with a couple minor improvements needed. Oh, and ban all Canadians unless they play hockey like they're supposed to. -Review by Jed
