First time staying here and it is a hidden gem. Most of the people we met during our stay have been taking family vacations to IH for years through multiple generations. This is not a 5 star resort … it’s a homey little throwback to slower times in life. The old time beach hotel is the exact feel you will get here. Check in and out was a breeze. The condos are individually owned so decor and interior up keep is arranged by the owner. Our room was clean and accommodations were just what we needed. The kitchen was stocked with pots and pans, utensils, but bring your own spices . The unit had a side view and it was beautiful 🏝️☀️. The ability to walk out and in less than 5 min be on the beach without driving was great. The pool was clean and plenty of furniture for lounging .. we spent a whole day at the pool. There are gas grilles available and showers/hoses to clean off when you get back from the beach. The ability to arrange for beach tents/chairs is a plus. They do have a small commissary for things you left behind and ice (not a bargain but you pay for the convenience). Overall the 5 day trip was one of the best I’ve had in Corpus. Would definitely stay again. Any improvements made by owners or the facility will just be an added benefit to staying at Island House. Added notes I forgot: unlike Air B&B/VRBO .. no fees!!!!! No cleaning fees unless you want the unit cleaned while you are there during your stay or you leave it a mess. No parking fees … no resort fees .. so when they quote you a rate it’s the rate.

We really liked the view from our 3rd floor "ocean side view" room. The access to the beach was awesome. The private beach had tiny little crabs and plenty of birds for us to see (we really like the birds that run fast, I don't know what they are called). The pool was warm and clean. We didn't hear any other guests outside while we were sleeping. We did encounter multiple instance of cigarette smoke, which was aggravating as our son has issues with his oxygen levels, and we understood this was supposed to be a smoke free property, but we did not report it to the building. We also reserved a 1 king, 1 queen room, but were provided a 1 king, 2 twin room. We did not complain to management about this either as my mother in law said she was "ok with it" and we were exhausted from our drive. The staff was nice, there are a few cats that appear to live on site, they were cute in my opinion, despite one jumping in our rental car so that was interesting lol. Overall, we were very pleased with the stay, just a couple of issues keeping it from being 5 stars.

BEWARE: they are now lying on their negative review responses. Looks like the owners need to reflect and improve their customer service skills as well.

I regret to express our disappointment regarding our recent stay at Island House. Our initial encounter with Victoria was delightful; she displayed exceptional kindness, politeness, and helpfulness, making our vacation experience memorable. Despite the no-pet policy, Victoria accommodated our service dogs graciously, even offering us a Military discount, a gesture that deeply touched us as my husband is a disabled veteran.||||However, our satisfaction was short-lived due to a drastic change in communication on the second day. A different staff member was unaware of our service animals, leading to harsh confrontation about the presence of pets in our rental and threats of additional charges. When my husband spoke with Stacey, the manager, she promised a partial refund for the extra charge, contingent on the room's condition.||||On the final day, we attempted to express our gratitude and ensure the room's cleanliness, but our encounter with Kayla at the front desk turned sour. Kayla was dismissive, unhelpful, and incredibly rude, refusing to inspect the room or contact the manager. Her behavior marred our experience significantly, overshadowing the positive aspects of our stay.||||We commend the housekeeper who supported us and verified the room's cleanliness. Her kindness and professionalism stood in stark contrast to Kayla's behavior. We hope this incident serves as a reminder that employees, like Kayla and Stacey, are representatives of your establishment and should uphold the same level of service and respect that Victoria and the diligent housekeeping staff demonstrated.
