My wife and I have stayed at this hotel many times in the last 3-4 years and have even recommended our friends stay here who have visited us, resulting in additional stays and added business to this hotel.
We called ahead and confirmed all the amenities were available including the hot breakfast and that it would be up and running.
We were met at the desk upon check in and advised there would be a “grab and go” only breakfast the next morning because staff was all sick, but we might get “lucky” and be surprised if there was hot breakfast. (They want me to be surprised and feel lucky if they have the services they advertise and that we pay for????!!).
We spent the night, only to discover the mattress was as hard as a board (never have had this experience here) and you could feel the springs in it.
People in the hallway were extremely loud at 11:45pm keeping us awake. I didn’t call the front desk because it lasted for 2-3 minutes.
We go to check out and get everything ready in the car before heading to breakfast. There was no hot breakfast. My wife decided she was going to eat oatmeal and then discovered there was no microwave available and we had already checked out of the room where there was a microwave.
We aborted breakfast due to this and wanted a hot breakfast which we ate elsewhere to accomplish this, causing us to be late arrivals at our destination.
Before leaving, I explained I thought I was owed some kind of compensation for all of these things lacking what we have always enjoyed before, and the desk clerk merely said, “I’m not sure you’re charged extra for the breakfast anyways”. , at which point I told her that was ridiculous and We stay at this hotel all the time and the hot breakfast is a BIG reason for the stay, in addition to the normally comfortable mattresses.
I left completely disappointed and the clerk didn’t seem to care about anything except rationalizing to me how it isn’t their fault and I really wasn’t out any money because she didn’t believe they charged “extra” for the breakfast.
We will never stay at this hotel ever again.
They had a chance to make it right and decided not to care.
Upon check in we were greeted by the hotel clerk and immediately advised that the breakfast was only going to be a “grab and go” situation the next morning because of sick staff.
We called prior to staying to insure there would be a full...
Read moreCalled and made a reservation to make sure we could have a wheelchair accessible room. Upon arrival, we found out that we have a handicap room but not a wheelchair accessible shower. They put us in a handicap room for the hearing impaired on the 3rd floor. My husband is paralyzed from the chest down, They apparently have absolutely no training in the difference between hearing impaired and mobility impairment. They expected him to use a bath tub with only 1 small grab bar and a shower chair that did not fit in the tub properly and kept tipping. I was able to help him have some sort of hygiene, but he did almost fall. Secondly, putting a paralyzed person on the 3rd floor is not safe, in case of fire, inclimate weather, power failure, etc... That room also had not been vacuumed. We found toe nail clippings in the floor by the bed. The next morning, we find out that they can move us to a wheelchair accessible room on the first floor we just needed to pack all of our stuff back up and take it with us while that room was being cleaned, making us an hour late for our appointment. We get back to the hotel, and the ramps on the sidewalk from the handicap parking are so steep my husband almost flipped his wheelchair backwards, but we finally make it in the building and move all of our things to the new room, only to find there is a steep ramp into the roll in shower. Without assistance, my husband would've flipped his chair over backward, getting into the shower, not to mention that the tiled steep ramp is very slick for walking people. In all honesty, this place is a lawsuit waiting to happen when it comes to the handicap, and I'm shocked that it ever passed any kind of ADA inspection. I did give 2 stars because the employees at the front desk did try to help us with their limited resources and obvious lack...
Read moreA planned 2 night visit to our Alma Mater in Lafayette over a weekend was going to be a very expensive affair as it was coincidentally the winter graduation weekend and all the hotels in West Lafayette/ Lafayette were exorbitantly priced to match.||||Good thing we liked not getting gouged, so found a suitable alternative here in Crawfordsville, a not-so-modest 30 miles out of the way, but for less then half the price, it was a no brainer. ||||My initial worry that this property was slight older and hence not as well maintained was quickly put to rest at check in. The lobby was very well kept and the rooms were recently renovated and looked new and were very clean. ||||From my last stay with the Holiday Inn Express Chain back in 2017, the best part was always the breakfast, and safe to say, in 2024 - despite all the turmoils and changes in the world - the Holiday Inn Breakfast remains firmly intact! Warm cinnamon rolls, that super fun pancake machine that always captured my kids attention and the branded Yogurts along with the full range of tasty hot foods was once again the star of our stay!||||We also thoroughly sipping coffee on the high chairs in the lounge after breakfast and enjoying the simple American mid western landscape save for a few gas stations and the highway for a view and the great 2000s tunes the hotel was looping in the background - made for a nostalgic experience for us! ||||Thanks for the great stay Crawfordsville HI - We will return for sure if West Lafayette price...
