We usually try to call ahead so we can see if a motel would have a big enough room to accommodate our family. We have three children in our family and it is not comfortable to fit all five of us on two double or queen beds. So we often look for rooms that have adjoining rooms or suites with 2 rooms or at least 3 beds. So I was quite nervous when we pulled up to the Carriage Inn with out having done that. I had stayed at this motel 10 years before this trip, but could not really remember much about the motel itself other than it just being a standard room with 2 double beds and it had a pool. I am pleased to say that we had an absolutely great stay at this motel. The rooms felt super clean even though the furniture is a bit dated it doesn't detract from the feel of the cleanliness of the room. We did encounter a spider in our room and saw another spider in someone else's room (on the backside of their curtain) but when we mentioned it to the manager she said she is calling her bug guy back out right away because she has noticed that problem as well. The manager in charge was always somewhere close, freindly and willing to help. No matter what issue we had. In fact, we even had a couple of big issues surrounding our stay, someone we think might have been the owner or the owner's son, had brought a dog on the property. It seemed a very aggressive dog and although the man did attempt to calm it down by yelling things to make it quiet down, those things did not work. The dog was on the property for a while before the he left with his dog. We talked to the manager about this and she ensured us that she would talk to the man and the motel owner about it. There was also a billing issue at the end of our stay and she stayed right on top of it until she had it figured out). During our stay, she checked in with us whenever she saw us outside to make sure we didn't need anything. When we went to the pool one day, she knew she had cleaned the room, earlier that day and took the pool towels that we had for the pool. So she chased me to the pool and told me she was going to bring towels to us at the pool so that we would have towels when we got out. The little restaurant on the property is run separately, however we found the staff there to be very friendly and welcoming, as well. The food was typical Small Town Fair but it was still a welcome place to have breakfast...
Read moreWORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. im a traveler for work, i’ve been all over country but this Carriage Inn in Cross City florida was the most disgusting place i’ve ever stepped foot into!!!! where to start.. firstly pulling up i was immediately uncomfortable with the types of people that were hanging around. shirtless men, groups of worker men. and just sketch looking people. but bc i hadn’t slept in 5 days because i have been traveling all over state i decided to give it a try and not judge book by cover. boy was i wrong i should’ve trusted my gut and drove right off but i already paid 104$ for room. old woman at the counter was nice but didn’t know how to check people in. after i got my room key i made my way up there excusing myself between all these men standing around the stair case. walked in and the first thing i noticed was a german roach on the wall above tv. decided to do some more looking around to see what other gross things were in here. 15 burn holes in the sheets between both beds. body fluid stains on bathroom mirror. mold and hair in shower. door hasn’t been wiped down since the place opened a hundred years ago. top lock was broken and door barely closed. very unsafe. microwave was caked with old food. room was hot and muggy. toilet seat had tape on it!!!! I wasn’t at this property for more than five minutes between check-in and going to the office to demand a refund which they told me they couldn’t give me and that I had to go through Expedia for it. the list goes on but don’t waste ur money!!! nasty service nasty area. absolutely atrocious. whoever reviewed this place as clean and anything above 1 star...
Read moreWe started staying here once a year in 2014. Then our phone calls started being ignored. We found a good place farther south. This year we needed something back north so let's try again. Still no answer so I figured this was another signal for us old-timers to use the internet. I set things up on Expedia. Later I called again and Brittney answered and let me know online booking was a mistake and Expedia would charge us for the room on top of her charges. Following her advice, I cancelled the Expedia booking and she set up a new one.|Upon arrival, the first lady couldn't find our info. Then Brittney couldn't find it so she set us up from scratch. I just looked again today at the receipt. Amount was OK but she put my name and the address of somebody in another state (even while looking at my ID).|Bathroom had a dead roach where it was obvious to anybody. The live ones came out later. Cleaning product odor was nearly overwhelming but it faded. AccuWeather was on DirecTV but Weather Channel isn't available.|We took off for our visit and left the AC on to dry out the bathroom which has no fan. I did turn it to a higher temperature to save them some money. Upon return the AC was off and the dirty towels hadn't been moved or replaced.|In 2014, different owners, old Florida vibe I knew as a kid, we enjoyed it. Now there's a different feel, pardons and parole clients moving about...
