What a GORGEOUS bed and breakfast. Our room was fantastic (Daniel Boone Suite) and really stayed with the theme of the place. The full sized bed was equipped with about a 2 inch thick memory foam mattress topper, and adorned with the softest sheets and quilts you could imagine. The room was also equipped with a bunk bed, which though didn't have the same mattress topper, was still comfortable enough for my dad. The room itself is a nice size in a nice location in the house. Attention to detail in decorating this bed and breakfast was obviously at the forefront of the owners minds. Upon arrival we were able to take a peek at the other open rooms and would not be disappointed staying in any of them. I can only imagine the unbelievable ambiance that could be experienced in the winter months as all rooms are equipped with individual (gas?) fireplaces. Some rooms even come with nice large jacuzzis to spend a relaxing evening in. Not only was the inside beautiful, but the place also has a joining deck with plenty of seating for relaxing. Our room came with a complimentary snack bucket and the refrigerator downstairs is stocked with fresh cold water and ice for guests. The B&B is conveniently close to the hiking trails, and is in a good location for exploring the town. We were only here for one night and I didn't want to leave. On a side note, the ladies running the B&B are some of the sweetest. They will call to confirm reservations and ensure all of their guests have the best care without being...
Read moreI would be willing to stay here again. Pros and Cons follow:
Pros: Very quiet, tucked away on a quiet street in a tiny town. Nice charm, rustic, opposite of a big chain hotel. Clean, not overrun with insects as I thought an old building might be. We did hear a mouse in the ceiling one night out of 5 but never saw signs of anything in the room. The owner and staff were very friendly. Although the hotel wasn't staffed in the evening, having a direct line to text the owner with any issues was good - she replied promptly to 2 questions we had. The staff will prepare to-go breakfast for you if you need to leave before Breakfast is served in the dining room around 9:00 to 9:30.
Cons: Primary concern is security. We stayed in the "Annex" - the entry is through a typical household keyed lock which presumably any prior guest now has a copy of - and since the keys were left out for us to "self check-in", in theory anyone has a copy. Minor thing for me but a consideration before letting wife or kids stay alone. There's also no deadbolt between the Annex room and a "private apartment" that share a hallway. The mudroom to enter the Annex seems to be the storage for all the cleaning chemicals and has an overpowering chemical smell. Fortunately the smell was not at all noticeable once in the room. This wouldn't be an issue in other rooms in the 1st or 2nd floor. The breakfast was a bit odd - quiche, greek yogurt, etc. Not typical Eggs, Sausage,...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed in the first floor cabin for two nights. PROS: The room was clean. It is a charming and quaint historic inn, so I did not expect everything to be perfect. Breakfast was served to us. The people we encountered who lived in the area were all very friendly. Parking was so convenient. Quiet.
