To start off on a positive note, Jennifer at the front desk was very friendly, welcoming and told us some great suggestions while visiting Dahlonega, so kudos to Jennifer. My daughter and I also appreciated the lovely purple flowers at the front entrance (see photos included). You also can see the mountain layers from the room which is a bonus with the view.
On the down side this is just a mediocre hotel I feel is over priced for what you get. I paid $314 for 2 nights and in my honest opinion the motel/inn we stayed at just the night before around the corner was much better for $83 less per night. The pool was way bigger and nicer, didn’t have extensive chlorine.
I would have rather saved $83 a night X2 nights (whopping $166 more). I had a freshly updated room with brand new carpet, coffee maker, and large fridge and there is a a McDonald’s in the parking lot right next to the pool.
There are a group of men I assume are staying for contractor work who all just hang out outside the hotel right in the parking lot and drink alcohol and I didn’t feel too comfortable being I have two kids. Just not a good look for a hotel charging $155/night for sure.
The pool at this hotel is very small. It closes if there’s any thunder regardless if there is rain or not or regardless if there is any lightening or not it closed for the rest of the day, from about 5pm on. There’s also an extreme amount of chlorine used in the pool my daughter’s all white swimsuit turned yellowish.
I got burned twice very badly by the scope light that’s next to the bed. This should be mandated to be removed or ways lesser to not cause burns. This can’t be up to code to burn like a stove top and someone needs to look into this. I have included photos of the light next to the bed with the scope that is an additional smaller light below the lamp. Easily can get a 2nd degree burn.
The breakfast is overcrowded, is mediocre and tasteless, and if you get there an hour before breakfast is finished there won’t be anything left and you have to wait for them to bring more food out and pretty much stand and wait on the staff to bring more eggs, etc out otherwise people all run up to grab food and well then there will nothing again.
Save $83 a night, have a much better pool, and go out to eat at a nice diner for breakfast. Can even grab coffee fresh right at Mc D’s.
I would not return here again when visiting, I would stay at the motel inn with the better, bigger pool with the McDonalds right next to the pool and save myself $83 a night. Took a start for getting burned twice, and another star for lack of value for what was paid. Should not be more than $119 a night.
Take what you will from my experience, thoughts and opinions. Enjoy Dahlonega it’s a charming...
Read moreDo you have a minute? If not, great hotel-you should stay there.
If you do have a minute let me tell you about our week+ stay. First there is Colleen. She was an absolute godsend. She had originally booked us into the best room with a view in the hotel. Then, when a group of Viet Nam Vets were converging on the hotel, thank you for your service, she moved us to the other quieter end of the hall in case the hospitality room, which we were next to, became somewhat rowdy. It didn't. We were happy to make new friends over the breakfast tables. She also walked us through the benefit points we had available and used them for two night's stay.
The rooms, I must admit, were very good for this level of hotel. Everyday we could request room service, if needed. Most every night we sat from 8-9pm watching the sun set over the mountains. I did mention we did have the best views from the hotel.
We didn't swim but many people did and it appeared from our walks around the parking lot that they were happy campers in the water.
We did day trips from the hotel and were given excellent suggestions on places to go within 35-60 minutes away. The GA NASCAR Hall of Fame in Dawsonville was a favorite. Also we were given all the best restaurants in town and surrounding areas.
In all, yes we'll go back. Probably spend another week+ as we are creatures of habit. It's a habit we'd like to form.

Read moreI am a quadriplegic and had a wheelchair accessible room. Upon entering the room I quickly noticed how high the bed was. There is no way a person who cannot stand could get into the bed independently. Luckily I had my wife with me to assist me. We went down to speak with staff (Lee, which is an amazing staff member) to see us another accessible room may have a lower bed, but they were the same height. The other issue is the roll in shower. It is very old with a VERY wide and slippery threshold. Again, there would be no way for me to shower independently this this design. It was even very scary for my wife to use towels and the slip mat on the threshold to get me in. If an elder person were to use this shower, there is no way to step all the way over the incline/threshold/decline to get in. They absolutely would slip and fall. These are the reasons for the rating of a 5. All other aspects are an 8-10. All staff was friendly, the hotel was clean and the...
