I saw online that this hotel had two stars with mostly positive reviews, and a nice low price. I expected it to be decent, but my expectations were not super high. I was so pleasantly surprised! This has been a really wonderful experience from the time of our arrival! The staff was so friendly and helpful. They really went above and beyond to be accommodating make us feel comfortable. I was traveling alone with my small children, our first vacation with just the 3 of us, so I was a bit nervous. This hotel feels extremely safe and there is always someone up front if you need them. The room was clean, had a nice, fresh smell, and the accommodations were quite nice! The location of this hotel is fantastic! It’s a really pretty view as you drive up. You are close to lots of stores, plenty of restaurants, and a variety of attractions. My children really loved the pool. It was so nice, clean and easily accessible. We were on the bottom floor, right next to the office, and it was so quiet. I can’t remember the last time I had a hotel experience where I did not get woken up multiple times in the night with people going in and out, but that was not the case here. It was the best sleep I’ve gotten in months! There was a nice variety of breakfast. Cereal, fruit, yogurt, pastries, bagels, bread, milk, juices, coffee, tea, cocoa! I’m so used to places in this price range just having a box of stale, donuts, and some sad, weak we coffee. I really can’t say enough positive things about the Days Inn in Dahlonega. If we are ever back in town, this is definitely where...
Read moreWe checked in and the room was disgusting. There was freshly-chewed gum on the floor, and visible dirt in the shower.
The man at the front desk was a total jerk. We had 2 additional people staying with us that weren't a part of the original reservation, which warrants a $6 charge per person per night (which is fine). Instead of charging us the $24 additional dollars we owed, he charged us $37. When asked to explain the additional, he vaguely explained "taxes". Luckily my husband is a tax auditor and explained to him that legally he can't charge us a 50 percent tax, but the max allowed in GA is 15 percent. He went and fixed the charge, but I wonder how many people he's ripped off that way.
He was really mad at my husband at this point, and used the "f" word (what professional customer service) and told us we weren't allowed to have alcohol because this was public property (we were in town for a wedding so several of us staying in the hotel had bought beer before hand). Again my husband had to explain to him that a hotel isn't public, that it's private property, and that this is clearly not a hotel policy so we're going to have alcohol anyway. Then the man told us we weren't allowed to walk across the street from the hotel to the holiday Inn (where we had other friends staying and were meeting up with them). Again, not something the hotel can tell us that we can or cannot do, but boy did he sure try to prohibit us from doing anything.
Totally rude and unprofessional. Disgusting rooms, terrible service... why would you...
Read more1st- The property looked inviting, clean and safe. 2nd- Check-in was easy and quick. The registration staff were very helpful with suggestions for places to visit, shop, eat and sight-see. 3rd- The room was large, clean, inviting and comfortable. I especially loved the large window on the back wall so that we looked out on the greenery, giving the feeling of being in a garden/nature-filled space. During the day, we could leave the curtains open without looking out on the sidewalk, the parking lot and the other guests walking past our room. 4th- Lisa, one of the cleaning staff, was very helpful and smiled while she helped! We had only to ask for clean towels, tissue, etc. and our needs were fulfilled with a smile. 5th- We enjoyed the accommodations and the town of Dahlonega so much that we extended our stay to 3 nights so we could visit the surrounding area and rest as needed when we were tired. My companion and I are both disabled and could only sight-see for short periods at a time. 6th- Checkout was a breeze. My only complaint about our stay in Dahlonega was that the businesses were so short staffed due to people not wanting to work (there were help wanted signs in almost every business) that most businesses operated with restricted times and menus/activities due to lack of staffing. Many businesses were closed during the week and only open on...
