I have been an occasional guest at this hotel over the past few years. My latest stay was fraught with disappointments and avoidable difficulties. First the Good: • This hotel is in a great area – In the past I have often made a special effort to stay here when I am in area. Walk-able stores and restaurants combined with Texas weather make this a pleasant area to stay in. • I was upgraded to a larger room at check-in. As an Honors Diamond member I appreciate this kind of thing. The new room was an “alcove” room with a small sitting area. • This building seems to be built with cement walls. You only hear other guests under the doors or if they are being very loud. Now for the large dose of Bad: • I was unable to get to my room when I wanted. Sometime before noon on Monday one of the only 2 elevators for guest use was closed down (one can only assume due to a mechanical difficulty). As of my checkout late Wednesday morning this elevator (the Northernmost one) was still not operational. This created an almost comical queue of guests waiting to gain access to the upper floors in the small lobby. Several of these guests joined me on a quest find alternate means to access the guest rooms on upper floors – this failed (see below). Paying for a hotel room that you cannot get to is a special kind of torture. • There are no stairways that guests might use to gain access to rooms from the lobby. All of the stairways exit into the exterior of the building. This seems like a mild design oversight but when you combine it with a multi-weekday elevator failure it creates a real problem. • This facility has closed its executive lounge since my visit last year. This was always a source for bottled water for me on the road and sometimes even a breakfast. Stripping this amenity out of the hotel is a strange decision and one that makes we wonder if a hotel has any idea what a professional traveler is looking for on the road. • Lacking an Honors lounge I availed myself of the breakfast on one of my 3 mornings in residence. The steam table fare was identical to what I recall from the Executive lounge – warm and ready. However, I was asked for my room number by two different staffers in the public dining room. This seems like a real security problem and I would suggest that some travelers might feel unsafe discussing such with indiscreet staff details in a public area. • A mistake was made with my rate and I was overcharged by $30 USD per night. A quick call to the hotel got this taken care of (thank you, Brittany) with no need to involve the Honors hotline.
In summary, this hotel simply used to be much better. The value equation of this facility is no longer favorable from my viewpoint. I cannot recommend this hotel over less expensive options. If they open the Honors lounge again, get a sub 4-hour elevator maintenance contract on the lifts, and train the housekeeping stuff to replace waters I could argue in favor of the over $200 USD rates. But if you are going to give me service identical to Home2Suites I would appreciate the favor of matching their lower rates. I feel that this facility is involved in a downward trend – possibly reacting to discount room rate wholesalers by stripping out their services and amenities to match the lowest of the low rates that they are booking rooms at. This kind of race to the bottom might produce some great deals for holiday seekers but for a professional traveler it just shows me that a property is not serious about quality. This trend of dropping the Honors lounges is not to my liking. If Hilton does not place any value on being a high-level Honors member – why should a comsumer place any...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of attending a conference at the Hilton Dallas/Park Cities, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, ensuring that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable.
The conference rooms provided were spacious, well-equipped, and conducive to a productive atmosphere. The hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure that all our needs were met, from setting up the audiovisual equipment to promptly addressing any technical issues that arose. The food provided during the conference was also of excellent quality, with a variety of options to suit different dietary preferences. The catering team did a remarkable job in delivering delicious meals that were both satisfying and visually appealing.
While the breakfast offered at the hotel was just okay, it was still decent enough to start the day. However, where the Hilton Dallas/Park Cities truly shined was at their bar. I had the pleasure of trying their white mocha latte, and it was absolutely delightful. The barista crafted the perfect balance of flavors, resulting in a rich and creamy beverage that was the perfect pick-me-up during a long day of conference sessions.
In terms of accommodations, the rooms at the Hilton Dallas/Park Cities were clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The beds were cozy, ensuring a restful night's sleep, and the amenities provided were of high quality. The housekeeping staff was attentive and efficient, ensuring that the rooms were always kept in impeccable condition.
Overall, my experience at the Hilton Dallas/Park Cities was exceptional. The conference facilities and food were top-notch, and the staff's dedication to providing excellent service was evident throughout my stay. While the breakfast could have been improved, the standout white mocha latte from the bar more than made up for it. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone attending a conference or looking for a comfortable and enjoyable...
Read moreThe Hilton at Park Cities turned out to be quite a disappointing experience for us. My husband and I got married on 4/23/23 at a nearby venue and selected the Hilton due to proximity to the venue. We called them months in advance to arrange a room block and negotiate a rate. Unfortunately, we believed the staff we spoke with when she told us that we didn't need anything else. It turns out, she did not put in a room block for us and our guests ended up paying the full price for their rooms. When we discussed this with management, we were told we needed a signed contract, which was never mentioned in our conversations with staff. They offered nothing to remedy the situation- not even an apology or acknowledgment.
We (me, my husband, and our guests that stayed there) also had a very difficult time getting in contact with anyone at the hotel. Whether to book a room, ask questions about our stay, or speak with the event coordinator about the rate, it took several calls to get through to anyone.
I personally had several negative encounters with hotel and valet staff- staff being rude, valet losing my car ticket, and a lack of overall professionalism. I understand I was not alone- other guests voiced concerns with the staff- the valet staff in particular. We paid for valet parking (as that is really the primary option here), and when I pulled up to unload my car (boxes of wedding decor in addition to my luggage), was offered no assistance. I was informed they couldn't help because they had an event happening that day. This is fine, I'm self-sufficient and happy to carry my own things (I didn't even ask, they offered this information up as soon as I got out of my vehicle). However, to then have 3 men stand there and watch me unload my car while we paid $36/night for valet services did feel odd.
Our wedding went pretty perfectly. Looking back, the only thing we would change is selecting a different hotel. It was a huge disappointment considering what we paid...
