This hotel is in serious need of attention and care. We checked in here for a long-term stay for a work assignment because they offered a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite, which worked great for our family. HOWEVER, upon check in - the guy at the front desk was rude. All hotel amenities were closed due to no maintenance staff on site - pool, gym, etc. He could not give us a time frame as to when it would re-open. Additionally, none of these closures were noted on the Marriott Bonvoy app or the website when booking the reservation.
When we got to our room, it was in MAJOR need of attention. The hotel was stained with crunch stains, one of the toilets was not working and was covered in stains. When we called the front desk, we were told we had to come down to the front to grab our own plungers because they had not maintenance staff. Our toilet overflowed in one of the rooms. There were stains everywhere - the walls, closet doors, the couch had ink stains, the table light was drawn on with some sort of marker. Needless to say, we did not take off our shoes on the carpet due to the crunching. We decided we would wait until the a.m. to speak to the manager, Monica.
Monica was nice, but could not offer any solution. She said her hands were tied until she could get a full time maintenance employee in there. They had been short staffed for quite some time. I am shocked that being part of the Marriott corporation, there isn't a maintenance staff member that could be shared with a nearby property or provide part time coverage.
After our first week there, a part time maintenance employee came over to snake one of the drains to fix the plumbing. We unfortunately had to stay here for a month because there were no more extended stay vacancies in the area due to it being a coastal town and summer months. The entire month we had no hotel amenities open other than breakfast. The AC would frequently shut off, take a long time to come back on, the halls were dirty, dingy, dark. There were pot holes larger than your car in the parking lot that you had to dodge when entering and exiting.
Additionally, we lost power for a whole day while staying here, as there was work being done to the electrical at the hotel / generator. Again, this should have been discussed before hand or shut down for the day.
To top it off, housekeeping was 100% lacking. If we were able to get towels or a refresh once a week, we were lucky.
This entire property is just run down. Even the lights on the building name were out. I've seen no-tell motels nicer than this place. Every morning there was another guest at the front desk complaining about plumbing issues, AC issues, electrical issues. It was just non stop. In my opinion, if you can't have maintenance on staff, then the hotel should be closed. Discounts should be given as well, considering amenities were closed.
Do not stay here until this place has had a major deep clean, maintenance repair, or...
Read moreHi this past weekend I stayed at the residence inn in Dartmouth near pub 99 . I was super looking forward to it because it was my birthday present to myself for two nights. now before I even booked it , I went inside and asked to see the room I wanted online and It came with a fireplace and she said yes we can book THIS room. So sunday when we get there he gives me my room key and theres NO fireplace so I booked it back to the front desk before my family all made there way down to the room. He didn't act to happy about switching my room to one WITH a fireplace and didn't apologize that that happened. He gives me another key on the third floor so we see that it does have a fireplace. So we unpack and put food away and etc. Then 10 min later I here my dad on the phone to front desk and I ask whats wrong. The fireplace WAS NOT WORRKING! I was real mad now because this shouldn't have happened. So they send some maids down to fix it. BUT they couldn't so she said shed move our room next door. SOO I quickly pack all the food all of my clothes all of my nephews into our bags and I'm waiting for her to come back because she said she would with a key. Come to find out NO room had a working fireplace so we were staying in the same room and I packed up everything for nothing. This took up to 2 hours worth 3:30- alittle past 5 to figure out. I was so upset and annoyed and stressed because now my dad was mad and I was about it because that was a huge feature I booked the room for because I new my dad would love it. I cried about it for an hour and it cut into a large portion of our first night there when we had plans already to go out for the night before my birthday. I loved the room and pool but that experience made me so very upset because its all my money I saved to have a nice mini vaca away. I wanted to go back for Christmas time because the atmosphere was cosy but now I don't really know because what if that happens again. I wouldn't have thought they would offer me an extra night...
Read moreMy wife and I recently spent 3 nights at the Residence Inn in North Dartmouth, MA and reserved a handicap accessible room. My wife does not use a wheelchair, but can walk only with difficulty using leg braces. The “handicap room” was sorely lacking, specifically: • The only handicap assistance was 2 horizontal bars on the inside wall of the bathtub. There was no vertical bar on entry which my wife needs for support to get into the tub. • The tub itself was full height, so climbing over it was a problem. Other hotels typically have a lower height tub or (even better) a walk-in shower. • There was no pull down chair to sit on for showering. • The handicap room was located far down 2 corridors at the furthest location from the lobby, nowhere near the elevator.
My wife was not able to take a shower for the three days we were there. Basically, there was a total lack of concern for a handicapped individual. This is especially inexcusable for a premium priced hotel. The room was also in the worst shape I have seen in any Marriott property – and I have over 500 Marriott stays. The carpeting had numerous stains, as did the bedding. The furniture had stains, holes, and tears. Any Marriott where I have stayed has always replaced carpeting and furnishings before they reach this level of disrepair.
The staff was quite unfriendly and unhelpful, never even inquiring about our stay.
After the three days we moved to the nearby Fairfield Inn in New Bedford, another Marriott branded property. The stay there was exemplary, with a handicap friendly room that was appropriate. The room itself was very clean, along with a staff that was most pleasant.
It is clear that the problem is with the management of The Residence Inn in North Dartmouth (this is a franchise), not with Marriott Corporation.
Be sure that you stay away from this property. There are better choices...
