Stay away from this store! I will post word for word my BBB complaint since they refused to acknowledge it (it is posted publicly on BBB's site for 36 months against them to warn others): Early 27May2022 I called and requested La-Z-boy hold a specific sectional, listed at a clearance price of $4,350.00. The agent agreed over the phone to hold the piece until 3pm the following day. I asked if a deposit was necessary to guarantee the hold and volunteered to pay one, she assured me it was not. Since I had asked about the terms of the hold to make it binding and she had assured me I had met them I believed us to have entered into a business transaction. My husband arrived around 4pm the same day, well within the hold period, and was told the couch had been sold. I immediately called the store and spoke to the associate who stated she was the one who placed my hold. As a remedy, I proposed to have the exact same sectional ordered for me, which she stated was possible, and have the store honor the previously listed price. She told me she would not honor the price and requested that I pay approx $2,000 more than had been agreed upon at the time the hold was placed. She, after admitting she did not do her due diligence to ensure the hold had been placed, then berated me for not purchasing the piece immediately when I had been in the store two days prior. I explained that it is routine for customers to shop around before making a large purchase, especially on a weekend when there are sales in that industry, and that her accusation was irrelevant to her mistake and very unprofessional. I asked to speak with a manager, she said there was none employed at the store. I asked for her name again and she hung up on me. She and her associates then refused to answer the store's phone number when I called back several times. Later, a different associate, Michelle, retuned my call and referred me to customer care and told me the sales associate who hung up on me was named Holly. She assured me customer care could resolve the issue but the store could not. Customer care generated a complaint but has not attempted to resolve the issue.
Update: Its been a month and customer care never called me back. Buyer beware, they will disrespect you, not honor agreements and provide no remedy for errors. Even for a furniture store this is...
Read moreMy husband was just recently diagnosed with cancer with metastasis to his lungs and brain. Obviously when we went to the hospital on 12/1/23 this was never the diagnosis we had ever expected. Thankfully after 23 days we were able to be home for Christmas. Last night was our first night home. He felt most comfortable sleeping in a more upright position so he sat in his favorite chair. Any other time it would be fine but I could clearly see it was not comfortable. He couldnât put his feet up. Even with the stool I bought him it wasnât sufficient. I had a fear of him tripping and falling. So this morning I was on a mission to get him a recliner. My sister and I went everywhere. We ended up at another furniture store right near Lazy Boy in Dartmouth. I found a chair that would be perfect for him. I explained to the salesman and even the manager our situation they refused to sell us the floor model. Even explained we had family that would pick it up. They refused to budge. The managerâs exact words were âwe are a showroom if you need to something today you should go to our outlet in Dedham or Warwick.âNeedless to say I left with tears in my eyes. I left the parking lot heartbroken. When we were driving I looked and saw the Lazy Boy Store across the way. We went inside when the salesman approached us I quickly explained what we needed. He immediately said âlet me show you what you can leave with today.â I looked at all of the available recliners not liking any of them. I wander the store and found one I did like. The salesman said âthis one is a floor model I canât sell it, but hold on a second.â He comes back to tell me another exact chair will be in the day after Christmas and he will let us have that chair. He even gave it to us at sale price that wasnât going into effect until after Christmas. Needless to say my hubby is now relaxing in his new recliner. So THANK YOU to Lazy Boy in Dartmouth and our salesman Albert for his kindness and humanity. This business truly embodied the...
Read moreShopped La Z Boy website looking for power rocker recliner. Had close out prices posted. Went to store, advised sales rep what I was looking for. He said they had advertised closeout models in the storage area. He took me back and showed me the only power rocker recliner in the close out model. Our discussions included me confirming the advertised price at least 3 and most likely 4 times.
I asked him to hold it until that night when I would confirm with my wife (recliner was for an 80 year old relative).
I called and confirmed our desire to purchase and discussed either deposit or full payment over the phone.
After futher discussion, we agreed to do it over the phone the next day. I call the next day and when he offered to write up the contract, the sales rep put me on hold and after several minutes came back on line and told me the price he quoted was wrong and the price changed $400.
I am a multi purchaser at this chain over many years. I still have three La Z Boy pieces in my home.
I then spoke to the manager and informed her of the issues. The story is much more involved and after calling the corporate office, they told me the store managers have the authority to fix the problem at the store level.
I ended up purchasing a higher end power rocker recliner by La Z Boy at a different retailer.
After my purchase, I called the store manager and advised her of my purchase. I told her if the rep made mistakes, she could have prevented them as she came b as ck to the storage area while the rep and I were looking at the recliner.
I advised her I would give an honest review. I have not changed anything but did not have a good...
