My boyfriend and I had to escape the hurricane hitting SC so we fled to Daytona. Everyone has been very nice as was this place. We wanted to support local business. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the waitresses were very kind. We asked if there were discounts for those evacuating as a lot of places are doing this, but when the waitress asked the owner she said "No, she's not doing this right now." This was fine, but we were curious if this means they'd do it tomorrow or if they were just picking and choosing.
Anyway, upon looking at the menu we were surprised by the prices: A pancake was around 7 bucks but it was huge ... though we could've made our own for about a buck. The combo breakfast with two eggs was about 7 and some change. Bacon wasnt super crisp, a little hard and chewy. The biscuits n gravy were loaded with salt. All in all the food was generic for the prices. The mimosas were OK but loaded with OJ and cost $5 where there are plenty of places I know of that do $10 bottomless or $3.50 a glass. The mimosas weren't a problem because alcohol prices are always going to be high where ya go..
My boyfriend and I can eat out together for about 20 to 30 bucks tops and we wind up taking two or three to go boxes. This was just ridiculous.
It was just surprising to see everything upcharged. I understand it was on the beach(which you can't even view) but when you hear 'diner' you normally think the food will be fairly inexpensive & tasty for what you're getting.
They then asked us to try to send people their way and tried to explain their prices when we gently commented that this was a surprise to us. It was a bit strange.
Go here if you want to visit a local spot but not if you wanna save some money. I'd rather go to iHop or ate...
Read moreWent here on vacation waitress was ok but the Owner HORRIBLE First they have nothing on the menu for NON PORK EATERS… NO Turkey NO Turkey burgers NO Turkey sausage nothing Turkey.. So I asked for a piece of chicken with my eggs & grits told me it would be a additional $6 I said okay… along with the menu item for the grits and eggs so $17 OK… Then told waitress please ask that they don’t over cook my chicken… Food came out chicken hard and dried she took it to owner she yelled over the restaurant and said we can’t bring anymore chicken out it will be the same I got up went to the desk told her she was very rude and unprofessional I told her that as a owner this service has been horrible and I didn’t want to yell across the restaurant where people was eating trying to speak to her… She claim the chicken is always dried I told her she needs more cooks or get another supplier for her chicken… She was unwilling to help or do anything didn’t even come over to the table to apologize for the chicken or the service advised her I was very unhappy …. Did she say well let me help do you want some hasbrown or some home fries or anything NO… considering I was over there with grits and eggs on my plate. Then later the owner came over and asked us did we want some cherry pie NO WE DONT…I even explained to her how customers should leave feeling .. she didn’t want to hear that as a business owner you should ALWAYS strive to make the experience a great one and see to that the customers is happy. You always want returning customers cause if they return then they will bring back friends and family. We travel all the time but we won’t be back… Not just my chicken but my whole family said it’s a NO for them… VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, VERY RUDE,...
Read moreWorst food I have had in years. YEARS. The coffee is see through … barely dirty water, the food was so greasy & cheaply made, I couldn’t eat any of it. I have not sent food back & not dared to get something else EVER. My omelet was so greasy & the feta inside looked possibly bad… it was congealed. Even the potatoes were awful … how do you mess up potatoes? Maybe the oil was old. Our first waitress was rude & very uninterested but a separate lady started to help us & she was lovely. It felt like we were handed off. We were not rude or high maintenance either because the last thing you want on vacation is a bad experience in a restaurant. And the menu states a 3% additional charge to the entire bill if you use a card instead of cash. So, they probably prefer under the table, unreportable payment. With the trifecta of place not clean, service bad & food WORSE, I can’t imagine how they stay open. Location is all they have going for them. Greasy spoon, low quality… if I wanted all that I would go to a Denny’s or Waffle House but we were trying to eat local & absorb some of the ambiance. ☹️Absorption rate met. I can’t put my finger on what was wrong with the food aside from the grease but it was just BAD, like someone who doesn’t regularly cook prepared it. I asked if they had a couple things (sour dough, non dairy creamer & possible gyro meat to add to “Greek omelette” and the answer was NO to all) so maybe they were punishing us. There are 50’s style joints all over the place… the collection of Marilyn Monroe & Betty Boop in dusted paraphernalia does not make up for inedible food. Seriously - PUT SOME COFFEE IN...
