This is the second time I have stayed at this establishment. I noticed some good things and experienced some stange things as well. I travel for work, and stay at many many hotels every year, and know what to expect and what not to expect during my stays. In check in, I was met with a friendly, helpful gentleman (I never got his name), and he gave me a sheet to tell them the day(s) I would like my trash done, bed made and towels replenished. I was there for 4 days, so I picked Wednesday. Needless to say, my room was"done" the next day (Tuesday) and never again. I am to the front desk and she for more towels and explained my confusion on the housekeeping sheet and was told that "the guy just throws them away". Hmmm. The rooms are similar to my stay 2 years ago, but I knee what to expect when I don't stay at a big brand hotel. Bed was pretty comfortable, water pressure excellent and a/c was noisy but worked properly. Here's the weird stuff... first night, there was lots of loud conversations in the hallway, and every night, someone cooks something that smells like garlic covered burning rubber. The smell is pervasive and nauseating. The next morning that smell is faint and goes away, only to be created that night. I had 2 weird happenings during my stay- first was a loud whispering in my ear that woke me up-nobody was in my room. The following evening, I was working at the table in the corner of my room and I heard a shuffling/ scraping sound. I wrote it off to my backpack shifting, but when I looked, the drawer to the bureau was opened 6 inches (see photo) I NEVER use the dressers in a hotel room and this one was not an easy one to open. When I mentioned this to the person at the desk, he stated that he experienced some of things from time to time and we had a laugh about it..|My suggestions are to have this place renovated and painted, update the furnishings and remove the stained carpets just to make the rooms pleasant to stay in. Prohibit guests from"cooking " in their rooms for the comfort of all guests. Offer housekeeping every other day unless the guest does not want it. I would also suggest updating the "free continental breakfast" to something other than a pancake machine and some mini muffins. These are not a knock to the establishment, just some suggestions to improve the customer experience. This appears to be the least sketchy hotel in the area, but could become an excellent quality hotel to stay in that would create a facility that people would love to stay in.. not just stop there because there is nothing in the area....
Read moreI have been needing to write this review for 6 months. Finally, I have the time to do so. We went home (Coventry is "home" but the military retired us in Richmond, VA) for a wedding. With the growth of our family, there wasnt any room for us at their homes. So, we decided to rent a room here. Our intention was to stay here for only 2 days and then move to my cousins houses for the remainder of our visit. However, there is a small apartment suite on the premises, with a full kitchen and the pricing was on point, so instead of dragging my 10 month old grandson all over Orleans County, we stayed. We are so happy we did! This was definately home away from home. All of the employees here were friendly, informative and just downright pleasant. It was hockey season with a hockey tournament close by and the staff made sure that the children were well mannered and quiet, allowing the baby plenty of quiet time.
If anyone needs a quaint, quiet, well priced place to call home away from home, like we did, then this is definately the place for you! It sure is for us from this point forward. Thank you Four Seasons Derby, for a meaningful and delightful stay! We...
Read moreI stayed here with a colleague as we were doing business in town the next day. The night staff checked us in quickly. The queen bedroom was clean, although empty feeling, like it needed a loveseat to fill in the remaining space..the bed was actually relatively comfortable, although squeaky. Bathroom was clean and shower pressure was very good. Also, the WiFi was nice and strong which is usually a struggle for hotels, I have found. The only downfall (which is not their fault) is a black mustang car kept driving loudly and eratically around the hotel at an early morning hour which woke me up. I know it was a black mustang because it parked outside my window for probably 1 minute. They kept revving the engine driving around the parking lot and up and down the road, which was very loud, making me wonder about the mental state of the driver (like what are you doing?) sorta unnerved me..aside from that, it was a decent enough stay for a...
