We celebrated the closing of our new home on Seymour Lake at Vermont Pie and Pasta Company. It was not what we expected, but we enjoyed it so much, we hope to become local regulars. The prime rib with blackened shrimp was tender, moist, and the portion was beyond ample. A very well presented entree, with equally delicious accompaniments. On the opposite side of the table, the blood orange salmon was also well prepared, though slightly dry at the ends and in need a side of the blood orange marinade (which the kitchen provided upon request). The side of wild rice and vegetable was aromatic and savory...likely the greatest surprise of the meal, as wild rice is often bland, not prepared well, or just lacking in that spark of kitchen inspiration. The pour of cabernet was generous and as recommended. For dessert, a maple creme brulee was both airy and decadent -- enough to satisfy, but not too much to overindulge. Our waiter was attentive, but not overbearing, and thought enough to just offer us a welcome to the area after overhearing our private toast to each other. Classy, my friend...very classy. Our first visit to VTP&P Co. will not be our last.

Vermont Pie & Pasta Company is a decent restaurant that has a very friendly staff. Despite their name, they don't just carry pizza and pasta. They have seafood, poultry, steak, burgers and sandwiches which are pretty decent. The food and beverages are usually served from the kitchen to the table in a timely manner. They have good selection of beer, wine and spirits which are pretty decent. I would advise against consuming beer on tap because their tap system doesn't keep the beers from kegs cold. They pour beer in frosty glasses which is technically the incorrect way of serving beer. Frosty glasses causes beer to foam and go stale which is what craft beer fans hate. Beer should always be served cold straight from the bottle, can or tap system. They need a better tap system that would keep beers from the kegs cold. I would advise that you order beer from the bar in cold bottles or cans. Overall, this is a decent restaurant to stop in for lunch or dinner on your way to and from Quebec. It is right off I-91 in Derby Center, Vermont on US-5/VT 105 and you can't miss it.

Arrived for dinner for the first time ever and as soon as we walked in we were greeted with smiling faces, the restaurant is beautiful inside and we had a great waitress. She was friendly and had great recommendations, we had the mussels to start and they were fresh and delicious, than we had the specials for dinner which was a prime rib topped with bacon wrapped scallops and a delmonico steak and added bacon wrapped scallops to that, both choices were very good if I had to say any negatives it would be that the rice I got was not my favorite and I couldn’t get mashed potatoes as I do not eat cheese and they are made with cheese so not many sides to offer for me but not something they are doing wrong. Drinks were good plenty of choices and the deserts were phenomenal we had the tiramisu and flourless chocolate torte. prices are reasonable and Overall a great experience and will return again when in the area.

I have to be honest here I had high expectations - it was the last meal of our trip and wanted to celebrate my wife's bday a few things that led to this lower review

Let me start by saying the staff was extremely pleasant, the restaurant very clean, with a nice warm environment and super kid friendly !

But I'm reviewing the food not the location , my beers came out pretty flat , the spaghetti Bolognese for kids is actually fettuccine noodles ( nothing major but just a different pasta)

Now I have a wood fired oven and was excited but the pizza and garlic fell really short . Mine were lukewarm when I recieved them so I felt like they were siting maybe a miscommunication between the pasta and pizza chef but that kind of sucks , the cheese had no color on top either which is what you want out of a wood oven

I will say the marinara sauce was bomb with the garlic bread

Also it was my wife birthday and it kind of sucks at a restaurant when you have to pay for the birthday dessert just a thing I find weird

Again maybe not the best timing but I wouldn't recommend based on the food but would definitely based on the atmosphere the...
