I stayed in the Grayson Cottage, on a Thursday and Friday night. Had a great, restful two nights.... WONDERFUL double bed... slept like a log!! Train is far enough away, that you might hear it once and go back to sleep, not a bother again (I grew up near enough to tracks that it doesn't bother me anyway) . Slept through a heavy downpour, with strong winds, and rain on the roof/ water heater vent made some noise, again, not enough to be a bother (once I recognized it, it put me right back out. Beautifully furnished bedroom, perfect to rest and relax in (songwriters take note! no pun intended ) full kitchen / kitchenette. COULD have brought my own food, and just stayed in the cottage, but I'm glad I didn't miss the breakfasts. Situated a short walk through flower garden and yard in a moderately wooded area. John was in the restaurant business for several years. Breakfasts were AWESOME, served on "the good china," and breakfast "stayed with me" (had a late lunch at my conference, but didn't notice it). I didn't get a chance to meander through the house, but besides the Grayson, the dining room, and the sitting home also had some beautiful antiques. Bonus for me, was that they had a room available, and worked around my schedule as far as checking in and out. Definitely gracious, southern hospitality. Do make a reservation if you can. I plan on returning. ONLY downsides if you want to call it that; the radio/alarm clock is also a bit old, (couldn't quite get on the station I wanted but then again, I found out the station was an hour away so maybe not) and the water pressure in the Grayson is not overly strong for a pounding shower, but then again, that's not much of a complaint, and the parking for the Grayson cottage is by the other two cottages; the Grayson is in the middle but it wasn't that big a deal... so really I have no complaints; that's why I gave it a full five stars. MUCH better than a hotel at comparable price. Thank you...
Read moreDO NOT BOOK THIS INN!!! Not sure who is running the show here. I booked a room in July for 2 nights to stay in the area for my son's wedding at the end of October. I got a call less than a week from check-in date in late October to tell me that 3 different people were taking reservations and that the Inn was over booked. They would be unable to honor our reservation. I explained I had booked it to attend my son's wedding. The person who called me (Melanie) said "Oh, sorry to hear that, but we are booked". I find it hard to believe that someone else had booked this Inn earlier than I had made my reservation. It was sketchy from the start. When I would call, I kept getting different answers about the rooms, etc. I wish I had never put my trust in them to have a place to stay for the wedding. How does this happen? Then, the fact that it was just too bad for me and no consequences for them. It has caused a lot of stress, frustration, and desperation for my family trying to find something with only days left before the wedding. I hope I don't get to the wedding and find out someone who made their reservation after mine, had theirs honored and mine wasn't. I had to give it one star in order to get the review to post. Too bad, as it really deserves no...
Read moreWhat a lovely, peaceful and wonderful experience. My wife and I took a road trip, destination unknown (normal for us) and just so happened to look this B&B up online and we were delighted for our choice. Melanie, Jesse and Martha (The, owner) .. they couldn't have more accommodating, kind, down to earth, welcoming and just good people. The place was so beautiful, well maintained, cozy, and truly felt just like home. We had great conversation, plenty of laughs, learned history and simply enjoyed their company. Our room was wonderful, the bathroom was spacious, clean and my wife enjoyed its old style charms. The breakfast was very good, and we've decided this place deserves many visits in the future. Although a business, this place was run like family, and we were so welcomed... thank you Martha, Melanie and Jesse, your hospitality is...
