We were in Sarasota for my son's long-scheduled surgery and had booked an AirBNB. We got in at midnight but were asked to leave early the next morning because Hurricane Milton was approaching and the owner needed to prep for evacuation. We did not know the town, had no idea where to stay that night, and weren't even certain we could do the surgery with the hurricane approaching. Even if the doctor was still on for it, we didn't know what to do or where to go afterwards since my son couldn't leave the area for 3 days due to after-surgery concerns as well as our scheduled exit flight. Though it was a weekend, we managed to reach the doctor and he assured us he would do the surgery. Next, we checked online and found the Carlisle Inn. It had good ratings and was not far from the hospital. We called and got Janet and Shannon; they were SO WONDERFUL to us! They got us in that night and said they'd make sure we had a place to stay for as long as we needed. We ended up staying a second night because my son was too sick from the after-effects of the anesthesia to travel. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and quiet, the nearby restaurant had delicious food, and their prices were reasonable. We could have stayed longer, but we were afraid our rental car might get flooded due to Milton, so we opted to head north and stay with a friend in Tallahassee. I must say, between the staff here and other friendly, helpful people we met in Sarasota, this "disaster" situation turned out not to be...
Read moreWe stayed at the Walnut Creek Carlisle Inn Feb 10-12, 2023. We stayed in one of the executive rooms with a king size bed. Our room was very nice, spacious & clean. The only & biggest problem we had on this stay was the mattress in our room was absolutely terrible! When you sat down on the edge of the bed it sunk down like an older mattress & sleeping was almost impossible. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable, you couldn’t get comfortable in any position & could feel the bed springs each time you moved. My husband referred to it as sleeping on lumpy concrete. We both left with pain & soreness in our backs. We were truly shocked to experience this at such a great place. We normally stay at the sugar creek location & have never had any issues there. We informed the desk clerk about the problem & she was going to let the maintenance dept know. We told her about our past experiences at the sugar creek location & that their mattresses are like sleeping on a cloud. She informed us they get their mattresses from the same manufacturer as sugar creek. We always have an amazing pillow top mattress at the sugar creek location & the mattress we had here was not a pillow top & seemed extremely cheaply made. We will stay again but probably not at this location. We would have checked out immediately but there were no other rooms available nearby due to Valentine’s weekend. For the cost of this upgraded room we we’re extremely...
Read moreStay at Sugarcreek Carlisle Inn if you can. The staff at Walnut Creek failed us for our 10th anniversary weekend. 6 weeks ago we booked a Couples Massage and 2 night stay this Memorial Weekend. Felicity called and told us over the phone that the Couples massage was Saturday, however we later learned she booked Friday with the massage therapists. We had other Friday plans when we got the call from Felicity who said we missed our massage, the therapists had no other appointments this weekend and we were responsible for the $200 fee. Felicity refused to take responsibility for her mistake and worse, the General Manager Chris Casteele believed her lies and turned us away saying we would have to wait until Tuesday to find out if the massage therapists would work something out so we didn’t have to pay the full $200. We had to scramble to find other accommodations and instead of looking forward to our first couples massage, wasted time appealing to apathetic management at Walnut Creek. Fortunately, I was able to connect with ownership who immediately responded and remedied the derailed situation, making our 10th anniversary weekend feel special again by treating us to dinner at the best table Der Dutchman Belleville. Kudos to DHG Leadership for striving to provide an excellent experience to their guests. I am confident these values will eventually trickle down to the management at Walnut Creek...
