Where to start... I guess with this: flatbread = pizza.
This is a pizza joint/bar. The pool tables from Andirons and then Dover Valley Forger survived! But the atmosphere, while ski themed and delivering on some clever ideas (like walls made to look like birch forest and signs you might see tree skiing) ultimately fail due to the grim white lighting and the overall tired feel. The pizza is good altho the mushrooms (which are on most slices) were not precooked and created a watery pie. The new pizza oven is legit. Under carriage was solid with the dough having a good fermented bite to it. Love that they have gluten free options for those poor unfortunate souls who need it (top pie in pic) but expect to pay NYC prices for the luxury. In fact, overall this place is damn expensive. But I do love that they try to keep it local and they also offer gluten-free crusts (added $6 surcharge??) which is appreciated. This is a 3 star review in most places, but I appreciate that Dover is trying to modernize it's culinary scene and this is a great addition to that effort... and for...
Read moreI'll start by saying the food was good, but... We went twice thinking we just got a bad go the first time because of the online check in (don't use that, it straight up does not work.) However both times we waited 2 hours for a two top, of which there was one, maybe two in the entire place. And both times we were told over and over "youre next" "ten to twenty minutes" etc... and both times we gave up and ended up at the bar. If you are a small party just go to the bar and take what you can get. There were regularly open seats in the main dining room and two entire dining areas that were just closed down with maybe 100 unused seats. They'll likely blame it on the holiday week rush but the management was objectively bad at this...
Read moreWe were so disappointed on 12/18 when we wanted to celebrate our mother's 76th birthday. We called to try to come but since we are a large party we opted for take out. We called to confirm we could pick up pizza at about 430pm. We drove over at 6pm and were told we could NOT get take out pizza. Hostess was nice and apologetic. I explained that we had called, the special occasion, the hungry children at home etc. When the manager came over he was quite abrasive and hardly let me get a word in edge-wise. I offered to come back later but he just refused to help in anyway. Very off-putting experience. Suffice it to say that we arrived home late with subpar food from a random place. We will...
