As an owner and A Hilton Honor Diamond member, was quite impressed with this lil place. The staff have been amazing especially Felix the front office manager and Stewart and Vianca on the outside bar. Accommodating to our needs.
Downsize was the pool area. Expected a bit more like Hilton Bonnet Creek or Hilton on I drive & 528, however it was nice in short notice trip. I am however extremely disappointed in the process of requesting Lounge Chair in the owner area. I made a reservation as instructed and went outside to check in. I looked at the seating chart while I waited for the attendant who was no where to be found for about 5 mins. I went inside to speak to Felix and he immediately called them. I went outside awaited again and pool attendant came. I requested what was available on the chart and my name was placed with no hesitation. I quickly pointed that there may be people in our area. Without hesitation the young said no problem while placing our name in the empty area and proceeded to the individuals in our area. I said I will return in a moment. He again said no problem. When I returned, our area was given to someone else which against their guidelines. The gentleman said when he spoke to them that they stated they were there. I told him that is not how the process is. I personally made a reservation and checked in for my seats which were clearly open. He offered to move other individuals from another area that was first come first serve which I declined because that is not acceptable and not fair. I had asked to see where the other individual checked in because then it would reflect it on their document. Could not provide the info and offered me two drinks. It was not the point, it was the principle. I made reservation and checked in. So here I was left defeated and disappointed. I proceeded to speak with Felix where he understood and agreed that an issue was created. The fact that the gentleman did not handle the issue was something that Hilton needs to correct. What if there were other booking and showed up and I was given. Then what? Again it is the principle. Implement a better check in system and monitor the area. Who is to say these where owners because clearly when you make reservations, it does not distinguish who is who. It clearly states only for owners. Something we pay for.
I appreciate the gesture, but drinks do not justify what happened here let alone removing others from a non reservation area either. Makes matters not cool, the same people sat in another area stilloccupying their alleged reservation, and people were looking for a place to lounge. Like really?
It was nice but couple of areas that need fixing. Doors in the room of the bathroom did not close. Let alone lock. No issues because it...
Read moreThis review is about the Las Palmeras, the “settling for nothing but the best when it comes to planning the perfect family-friendly Orlando vacation style resort”. My wife and I planned a family vacation to Orlando to celebrate our daughter first birthday. We were so excited and happy for this family vacation as this would be the first one with our new baby girl. We paid for an upgraded suite months in advance before arriving on the property expecting it to be more accommodating than the suite offered with our resort package. However, my wife and I were both dissatisfied with our upgraded accommodations. We informed front desk rep, Ralph that we were unhappy with our accommodations. Please understand that we traveled from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and there’s no palm trees nor Orlando like scenery so therefore we were looking forward to looking at something vibrant, fun, and delightful from our balcony. Instead, we got stuck with the parking garage view. The hotel did not meet my wife and I expectations after checking in, but we were very hopeful that the hotel would plan for better accommodations. Once again, we were disappointed that the hotel referred us to the 800- Hilton marketing team to assist us. Let me just point out that we are on vacation and thanks to the inconvenience we faced after checking in, the first half of our day has now been wasted on silliness. I thought I signed up for a resort, but I was heartbroken because the reality was this would not be the vacation I anticipated. The Las Palmeras wasn’t a resort and it felt like a Hilton inn with a large pool. In addition to paying for our upgraded suite which came with a hideous view, we then had to pay for self-parking. And there were only one set of elevators that went up to the rooms which were located at the hotel entrance. So, we are traveling with our 12-month daughter, and we have strollers, luggage, and other baby items. I had to unload the vehicle and take the bags up to the room, then go around the hotel to the parking garage. Also, the parking garage elevator was out of order. Just my luck because I parked on the third level. The walk from the parking garage to the inside of the hotel elevators felt like it took forever. Now at this point, I started to regret purchasing this package and I surely wasn’t looking forward to the presentation the next day, which was 20mins away at a different location. Thankfully, we rented a vehicle. Can you imagine the cost of the uber ride that would have been in Orlando, especially with the price of gas? In closing, the hotel style resort did not exceed nor meet our expectations, the hotel couldn’t accommodate any of our requests and the vacation really didn’t feel like a vacation. Thanks a bunch, Hilton...
Read moreMy family really enjoyed this resort. The pool was nice and the water slide was fun for the kids. We really enjoyed the free DVD rentals (Redbox like). The room we had was a King Suite which had a full kitchen and 2 huge bedrooms. It was modern and the beds were very comfortable. We did not eat at the restaurant but the wings looked amazing... almost changed our plans :).
We are Hilton Honors members and we were able to get into this place at a reasonable price if we sat through a 2 hour Hilton Vacation Club sales presentation. Now I have read the horror stories in these reviews and I was not sure what to expect and was a bit anxious about the interaction based on what we were reading. This was NOT a terrible experience at all. Here is the deal, this IS a sales presentation. We were aware of that from the time we booked and agreed to sit in on it for the price. So expect they will attempt to get you to buy into the vacation club program. That should not be a surprise to anyone nor should it offend them.
Was I tricked into attending this presentation? NO
Did I at any time feel held hostage? NO
Did I at any time feel forced to purchase a vacation club? NO
Was I treated poorly? NO
Was I presented several options to try to accommodate my budget? Yes
The sales agent did her job and we listened to her. We weren't rude and neither was she. Her job, her living, her vocation, is to sell the benefits of a vacation club membership. She did what she was supposed to do and in the end it wasn't something for us specifically and we ended the meeting amicably.
There was no weirdness after the presentation with ANY of the staff. Everyone was courteous, friendly, and service oriented the entire stay.
The ONLY issue I would say, or feedback, is there was a fire alarm that went off one evening but in our rooms it was extremely hard to hear it. I could see that as a potential issue. I could here something but was not sure exactly what it was, when I opened the door I then realized it was an alarm and began to evacuate my family. Root cause, someone burned something they were cooking!! Ha! That is the only thing I would say may need to be improved, the sound of the alarm. Myself and one other room opened their doors (from what I saw) and that was when we saw the hotel staff checking the floor and then gave all clear.
All in all, a great resort with great staff. It is located in a great area and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an upscale stay with family activities right at the resort in the heart of Orlando.
Thanks Las...
