We have stayed at this hotel several times over the past few years due to its location and that it is pet friendly. The hotel started going downhill and renovations began so we gave it a break in the hopes that conditions would improve. They have gotten worse! We stayed here for a quick New Years getaway (12/30-1/2) and it was a terrible experience. The room we stayed in was dirty! There was tape all over the walls (I assume from previous guests that had celebrated Christmas). There were food particles all over the kitchen, pieces of dried pasta and sauce in the microwave and on the counter, a LIVE ant was crawling on the bed and dirt on the floors. The toilet backed up after the first flush and to top it off there was NEVER any hot water in the shower...luke warm at best! We checked in on Wednesday around 8pm and I went to close the drapes in the living room and the right side of the blinds (with the track) fell down. While we were unloading our vehicle, the sprinklers started going off and it was only approx. 9pm, we got soaked!!! Even though they are pet friendly, there is really no where to take your pet to do their business. What little patches of grass they used to have, has either died or been removed so it's only dirt, which turns to mud when the sprinklers go off which in turn creates a huge mess. The entire hotel just feels dirty. The hallways are dirty, they smelled funny and several times there was dried urine (from a pet I assume) near the door to go outside. They do not enforce wearing a mask even though it is mandatory, people were walking throughout the hotel without masks on. The front desk staff was no help at all after bringing all of our issues/concerns to their attention! There seemed to never be a maintenance person on duty to help with some of the issues we had. The hotel was sold out and overbooked, we witnessed several people trying to check in (who had made reservations) that they could not accommodate and everyone was very upset! The front desk was under staffed seeming how they were booked to capacity and it was a holiday! Due to this issue, we were unable to switch rooms and there was nothing they could do for us. The lady we complained to took notes and informed us that she would contact her manger to get in contact with us because no manger would be in until Monday (wow), of course, that never happened! My husband and I are Titanium Elite members and this is not the kind of service or conditions we are used to, whatsoever, so we contacted Corporate and got everything squared away. No one was helpful at this hotel and the conditions are very unfavorable, we also requested supplies several times (toilet paper, towels, etc.) which were never delivered, on two occasions, so we had to go back to the front desk after getting back from the theme parks (around 11pm) to get our supplies and they girl working the front couldn't locate all of the supplies we were in need of. We will never be staying here again and I would recommend others to look...
Read moreEdit 14 November 2024: I'm staying in the hotel for the second time this month, and I couldn't be more satisfied. All thanks to the manager Andrea! She exceeded all our expectations, being extremely human, gentle, caring and thoughtful towards our customer experience. She understood our family situation and made everything possible to make this stay unforgettable, and acknowledged my Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status. I already liked my first stay, and now it's settled: Residence Inn Orlando Convention Center is my home away from home. Thank you once again, Andrea!
Original review: First of all, I’d like to say a big thank you to Nordine, from the front desk reception, and an even bigger gratitude towards Anthony Famularo, the best hotel manager that I had the pleasure to meet. This is a testimonial of what a difference a well prepared professional, and I should say a sensitive and sensible human being can make on a guests life. I didn’t have a good experience on my first night at the hotel, but Nordine was the first one to show some compassion and explain better to me about the situation that was going on. He also recommended me to talk to Anthony on the following day, and so I did, and everything changed for the better. About the facilities of the hotel: It is located on a privileged location in Orlando, between International Drive and Universal Blvd, in the middle of the way to Disney and Universal parks. It’s also a 10 minute drive to reach any of the Outlets, and 12-15 minute drive to the Mall at Millenia. Good place to stay. The room we stayed, a two queen beds one bedroom suite, could fit two couples and a small child very easily. If you can manage to share one single bathroom, it’s a good choice. There is a sink outside of the bathroom and another one at the kitchen area. About that, you have a fully equipped kitchen, with a big refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher machine and everything else. We have an allergic daughter, with many restrictions, so a kitchen is mandatory for us. Big plus. The hotel offers a good breakfast, in my point of view, with different kinds of juice, some fruits, yogurt, hot options, such as eggs, burgers, bacon, potato, and a variety of bread and cakes. I liked. There is also a swimming pool, that looks inviting, probably better during summer time, and a gym, which we runaway from during our vacations hahaha There is an ATM and a small shop for emergency items. A very appreciated diferencial: they receive packages for guests staying at the hotel, as long as it’s nothing out of the ordinary. Lastly, but important, what makes the hotel not perfect to me is that there is a parking fee. I’ve stayed at 5 hotels in Orlando and none of them charged for parking. But it’s something you can live with. Overall, after some fine adjustments and a great manager experience, it’s a place that I’ll look forward to return on my next vacations. Thank you, once...
Read moreWe did experience some problems and I would not recommend this hotel. Jason on duty Friday evening was very nice but clearly needed another employee. I started to check in and we were interrupted by mutiple times by other hotel guests needing water, another picking up his Uber Eats order, telephone calls x 2. Jason apologized but the interruptions continued despite his apologies. I felt like I was not important and it didn’t matter that I had worked and traveled all day and it was 8:00 and ready to settle in. My gold status was not on my reservation since I had to book throught the ASI convention agency. He added my number to the reservation. The next day I was at the front desk and asked about the water/ goodie bag (which I didn’t get) also the “Bonus points wheel” which I know saw on the counter. The girl was quite surprised I didn’t get to do these at check in.
extremely dated hotel —room met basic needs —nothing special We checked into room 424 - AC sounded like an airplane —horribly loud, I knew we wouldn't sleep with the kind of noise.
Changed rooms to room across the hall 423 Bad SMELL but AC was much quieter —so we stayed in this room
Woke up few hours later with headache and nausea due to intense smell. Guy found that it was just a plug in —unplugged and over the next 24 hours, room smell calmed down. Made us wonder if pets had been in room. i have severe allergies and allergies to pet dander which does not go away with just an air freshener. We left this unplugged the rest of our stay since it was way too strong.
They said bathrooms were newly remodeled but toilet would not flush unless we held the handle down until it finished flushing completely. Shower was basic, nothing special, extremely plain room and bathroom. Disappointing for a Residence Inn
Breakfast -- Bacon was uncooked and extremely greasy. Good selection but very bland.
On our last night in FL, we changed hotels to a Fairfield Inn in Kissimmee for $59.00 night + parking $15.00 for a total of $74.00. We were greatly impressed with room and hotel. Very surprised as we thought Fairfield was the lowest teir for Marriott properties. We have stayed in many Residence Inns and have never been to one so unimpressive as this one in Orlando Convention Center
While our stay at your hotel was adequate with a bed to sleep in and roof over our head, we will not be rebooking there next year when we come for the ASI Orlando show. There are too many hotels in the immediate area which offer significantly better experience for $169.00 per night + taxes. Disappointing stay altogether. I did not report the horrible smell since we found the plug in freshener. We had to change rooms and did not want them to think we couldn't be pleased. The hotel looked great on the outside but inside was very dated, run down and repairs looked like things were...
