I really wish I could give it more but I have to keep my reviews real. I'll go over pros and cons and overall experience. Pros: attractive price point, adminities, location to theme parks. Comfortable bed and accomodations Cons: Parking Horrendous, understaffed or not fully trained customer oriented workforce. Pricing in onsite bar. The serious smell of weed smoking right behind the main office
Ive been here a few times and have referred tons of people here but this may be where the buck stops. This trip was about the worst one I have ever had there. The room was clean but... there were some maintenance issues.... numerous lights not working, blown out. Dimmer switches do nothing. 3 of the jets in the bath were inoperable or lacking , mix matched cabinet doors... other than that the room was pretty good and comfortable. Parking was a nightmare. Two nights I ended up parking near the south security gate and walking 1/4 mile to the room. That's not acceptable in the florida heat. The place wasn't fully booked but it seemed like it was overcooked. 3 drinks from the bar came up to 91 dollars.... for 2 margaritas and a pina collada??? That's insane! Get me once shame on you get me twice can't put the blame on you. Walking back from the bar in the alleyway was an experience. The smell and cloud of marijuana was very apparent but there was no security slowing that down they were more worried about the thunderstorm that had passed 3 hours ago giving them reason to keep all pools closed.. I voiced my concern to one of their reps and even said maybe I should try bluegreen next time since we weren't feeling valued, they told me go ahead.......like really? If I could get my money back right then and there and there was an opening I would have left on the spot Will I give them another chance? Not on my dime. Fluke or not hospitality and great service is a virtue and when you dont value me, then I dont value spending my money there. If management wants to discuss some further options ill be happy to add an...
Read moreAbsolutely enjoyed our stay at Westgate lakes and spa resort. They have several pools, a water park, a bar with bowling alley. In the courtyard and by the bar they have several fire pits, gift shops, boutique style restaurants. There's a Starbucks (doesn't accept SB gift cards), a mini store for quick items, putt putt, walking trails, a lake. You can rent paddle boats as well. The biggest plus for me was if your building faces the lake you can see universal and Disney fireworks at 9pm. Disney is 9 miles, universal around 5 miles, and Sea World is literally a huge U around the block. Probably less than 3 miles. I drive is around 8 minutes depending on traffic. Disney springs is roughly 5 miles I believe. The resort offers different activities each day as well such as bingo. Our last night there was Havana nights in the courtyard with a DJ and people dancing. Complete with decorations. The one bedroom unit we had sleeps four. Two one a king bed, two on a sofa bed. The screened in balcony was perfect for viewing fireworks from nearby theme parks. Tvs in living and bedroom. Kitchen was complete with microwave, fridge, Stove oven, washer and dryer. Furniture was clean and comfortable. On one note be very aware. The beds are very very high. I have hip issues and did not request an handicap accessible room but the toilet was very low and bed very high. I called the front desk and they promptly loaned me a handicap toilet with bars and had maintenance lower the bed by removing the legs off the platform. I called at 5 am after not sleeping and they said they'd bring the toilet and fix the bed "sometime that day". By 530AM maintenance was at the door to Lower the bed and shortly after was the toilet. 10/10 for customer service for the entire length of our stay from security to maintenance to front desk. I highly recommend this resort a solid 10 from location, cleanliness, customer...
Read moreThe 1 bedroom we stayed in was spacious, bed comfy & bathroom had double sinks, a stand alone shower and private toilet area. The bathroom also had a small closet and cubbies under the sink area holding towels and some empty for personal use. Our deck off the living room was a decent size. Where the resort lost stars was the amount of broken things within the room. The ice maker didn't work, the dryer's lint trap was the wrong size, one of the bathroom sinks kept backing up, a side lamp in the bedroom broken at the base where the bulb would fit, and the screen enclosure for the deck was torn. We were also missing basic kitchen items like pot holders, dish towels, bowls with lids to store food (if you had leftover food), a baking sheet for things like French fries, and steak knives just to name a few. If you don't plan to utilize the kitchen then this will not affect you. The last two things that my family felt were important was that none of the pools had lifeguards and Westgate's overall security was at best minimal for the resort's given size! They didn't even have one per building. My family had a serious issue and it took about an hour and 3 requests before security arrived. If these things aren't important to you and your family then you're good to go. For my family, these things took away from our experience. The management needs replacing as they were not interested in our safety. I will say that the staff & maintenance department were all very pleasant! For these reasons, I can not recommend Westgate...
