I would first like to state that I have been visiting WestGate Lakes Orlando for nearly 20 years and we loved the new upgrades made at the resort. The first night, Friday, we went to Drafts and it was GREAT. The food was delicious, beers were cold, and our server was FANTASTIC. Saturday night we returned to bowl. We ordered a few drinks and a snack for the kids....again FANTASTIC server. We decided on our last night at WGLR we would dine there again since we had 2 good experiences. After a long day at Epcot we go upon arrival we went to the hostess stand to get a table for our family to eat. We were told that it would be 30 to 40 minutes to get a table but noticed the restaurant had numerous tables available. I know that there is a possibility that you were a little short staffed due to it being a Tuesday but that was only the beginning of the issues that presented themselves on this night. We then decided to get a beer while we waited for our table. I walked over to the bar area where the server’s pick up their drinks, there was a patron standing there who I asked if he was in line and he said no and stepped aside. I then ordered three beers. It was then that a man standing behind the people seated at the bar walked over and said we cut him. Having no idea that was the case the manger who was sitting at the bar instantly took the side of the other patron. He cancelled my order and even bought him his drink. I am at this point still confused about what was happening, he then let another patron go in front of us as well and both drinks were served in pint glasses. When I was finally TOLD I could order my drink I was informed I could only have my drinks served in plastic cups even know there was not one other person in the entire establishment with a plastic cup. We decided we would just leave and go somewhere else to eat but at that point we were notified our table was ready and the kids were hungry so we sat down. My brother in law who is an owner and who had witnessed this interaction with the manager decided to walk over to the manager to inquire about what had transpired on my behalf. The manger put both hands on my brother in law shoulders and went into a rant to him about how he worked for Darden for numerous years and knows how to run a restaurant and then walked away. We our sitting with our kids and they our watching a manager act like a child. So we continued with our dinner when we heard a loud boom! Another customer slammed the basketball hoop and ripped it half way off the wall. We got to watch Mr. Colon in action again as totally lost it on the customer to the point a physically touching him several times(I guess putting his hands on people is his thing). I would think this is not the type of behavior you would like representing your new beautifully...
Read moreOur first night in this “resort” included a visit to this bar/restaurant. We were seated quickly, but apparently no server knew who was supposed to serve our table so after about 10 minutes I had to grab someone and say “please may we see a menu?” The service quality improved at that point, the server I grabbed was friendly and checked up on us often. He humorously admitted that he didn’t even know who was supposed to have our table, but he took care of us.
My girlfriend loves the pulled pork tacos, and I am ordering some of those to go right now. But I had to go into the restaurant to place the order, they do not take “to go” orders over the telephone. Strange I think. And $19 seems a little pricey for a couple of tacos.
Otherwise, the resort sucks in my opinion. I used to stay at the Doubletree Seaworld and it is many times better than here. Horrible party noise at night near the pool area, the 80’s pool music was turned back on late at night which I had to call the reception to have turned off at 3:45 in the morning. The pool area has extremely few umbrellas in case you want to sit in the shade, only at the tables. Then the iron didn’t work properly, the cleaning people come in daily to change the sheets but they don’t seem to notice the details that one would expect of a cleaning staff. They threw away an empty paper towel roll ... but didn’t replace the roll. And they never seem to vacuum.
Then the day or two after we arrived they closed two of the swimming pools for a few days for service and my girlfriend has to walk halfway across the complex to do some sunbathing. Why several pools at once?
Then there are the general facial expressions of employees that don’t like working where they do. Not much you can do about that. Not conducive to an enjoyable stay.
I’m surprisingly disappointed, And that doesn’t happen often at a hotel that I stay at. But I attribute a lot of this to the fact that this is full of timeshares that people seem to feel they have the authority to do as they wish. First and last time booking this place. Sorry...
Read moreIm giving this restaurant a 2 based upon poor customer sevice. We were seated in an area that the waitress did not want to attend. Her name was Mia and she was one of THE WORST waitress I have encountered while dinning out. I felt she particularly had an issue with my family, even though she loosely used the word love and called my husband baby. After seeing other tables being sat and drinks served she finally comes to our table and ask if we’re ready to place our order. I would presumed we were ready after attending everyone else…. So we place our order and of course she does not come back with the drinks. She sends another guy that cleans tables to serve our drinks. I change my drink from a sprite to a hot Tea and the gentle man says I will get that for you. He never comes back to the table. After a while Mia comes back and says your food is next. I also let her know the guy the did not bring my hot tea. She says “I will get it right now’ She never comes back. When she does come back to the table it’s with our food order. She does not acknowledge my tea. I politely remind her again. When she walks off, she went directly to her next tables as if I said nothing at all. I went to doorway if the kitchen myself and asked the only other waitress that was there if she mind fixing a hot tea for me. Forgive me for not getting her name but she got right on iit. She did not know the service the previous waitress had provided but she was a very sweet young lady. The food quality at this restaurant decent. But the bill was confusing. We had 3 EndZines that comes with eggs on the menu. The menu does not state there is an up charge for the eggs that is listed there. I was charged for extra scrambled eggs for 2 of them along with the Sprite. My husband and I were over it. He was frustrated with poor service provided as well. We paid our bill and left. Just watch out for servers like Mia that try’s to use sweet pet names to cover the poor service...
