This was our first stay at the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Draper, and we really enjoyed our stay here. I'm sure we'll book a stay here in the future. It was a relatively new building in an area where a lot of new apartment buildings and condos were being built, so the view wasn't that great, but the building and rooms were really nice and very clean. The lobby and dining rooms were very clean, spacious, and had a nice atmosphere. There was a very well stocked snack bar and drink station next to the front desk. The day staff were really nice and helpful, and we were given bottles of water to take to our room. We didn't go past the pool or exercise room, so I can't say what they were like. There was also a nice patio that we could see from the upper floor. And, there were hand sanitizer stations at the exits and near the elevator.
We chose a room on the 4th floor toward the inside of the building away from Bangerter Highway so there would be less noise, but we were given a room across from the one we chose. That wasn't a big deal because our side of the building was actually quite far from the highway, and there was very little street noise. The room was exceptionally clean. It was an open concept kitchenette bedroom. The kitchen area had a full-size fridge, two-burner stove top, microwave, sink, dishwasher, glass plates and glasses, metal utensils, cooking utensils, pots and pans, coffee pot, ands a table and nice chair. The blackout curtains overlapped, keeping the room nice and dark. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, as was the couch. The bathroom areas had extra towel rods for the towels we were using, so we didn't have to lay them next to the sink, which was really nice, and the towels were very soft and absorbent. They had dispensers in the shower stall for shampoo and conditioner, and one with lotion next to the sink. Like most hotels, the TV had basic channels, and a few of them we wanted to watch were very jumpy. Maybe there was a lot of buffering going on for those few channels. We did find some good channels to watch that had no issues. Before going to sleep I forgot to look and see if the room's fan system had a continuous running option, so as the fan turned on during the night, it came on with clicking noises and a rough, loud sound that kept waking me up and seemed to last a long time. I usually try to use the continuous fan option to cover those noises because most hotel fans sound like that. There was also a very quiet ceiling fan with 3 speeds above the bed that kept the air circulating when the room fan wasn't on. They served a nice breakfast with French toast. The lady working in the dining room said they like to mix up breakfast options so guests don't get bored of the same foods every day. And breakfast was also served on glass plates, with glass glasses for our drinks, and regular metal utensils to eat with. The kitchen staff were great to keep the dirty dishes moved out of the dining area, so that room looked nice for guests just coming in to eat.
All in all, the atmosphere here was relaxing and it was a great stay. Ten thumbs up to Hilton Hotels for another great hotel to stay in!
I'm adding an edit to this review. We stayed here again 4 months later and had a different, but still good experience. This time, the hotel was surrounded by a new housing community with more traffic on the roads outside our room, which was on the 2nd floor this trip.
There was a lot of foot traffic outside our door, and the family in the room above us was very loud, and the kids were jumping off the furniture. I didn't mind the kids' noise at first because kids have to work off their energy. But when midnight came around and they were still bouncing and stomping, I was frustrated. And around 6 a.m., the family was up and going again. This little rant of mine isn't against the family upstairs. It's against the hotel. I expected a better sound insulation on a new hotel. Also note that they now have $7.00 parking fee that they didn't have before. This is still a...
Read moreWent there once when when it was brand new, not more than 3-4 years ago and thought it was a really nice place.
This past MLK holiday weekend went there for a short couple's retreat and treated like I was a rotting leper. They were aware that I am a Diamond member of Hilton Honors, but refused to offer any of the perks of that status level which took me 20+ years of hard pressed dedication to the Hilton brand to reach. They arbitrarily have chosen to hold a $100 "incidentals fee" while every other Hilton property in the State of Utah holds $20-50 dollars for incidentals. Then, at the less than cordial "check in" when entered the bowels of the previously cozy Hilton associated property we encountered a place of obvious neglect and lack of proper reinvestment of care that one usually can expect from a Hilton associated property. It has become a ramshackle trash hole where you might go as a shelter of last resort. If you're scrolling through your Hilton app or driving past this place KEEP GOING ON PASSED! Skip this one it can be turned into a shelter now (but only if the truly desperate would be willing to roll the dice there) and a word to the wise, if any of you value your lives AVOID THE PETRY DISH THEY CALL "THE POOL!" If you don't get the 411 on this issue before jumping in, then prudence dictates a skin peel asap after. It is very possible that it has not been cleaned or properly cared for since the property opened. Additionally, they made an attempt to charge me for an extra night, an occurrence that is more likely to be a practice than a mistake at this place. If the GM is alerted to your complaints, then she will avoid you like the plague while handing out free king-size Butterfinger candy bars to the other "guest"/food at the front counter to spite you. If you see this place KEEP DRIVING! It's only a few more miles and dollars to get the South Jordan Embassy Suites for a truly enjoyable stay.
If this entire place suddenly collapsed, I would: 1) have difficulty not cheering, 2) not bee surprised, and, 3) feel some sense of relief that no one else has to ever fall into that trap again.
And, yes I opened a complaint with Hilton, as well as, requested an inspection and asked that Hilton revoke their branding from the shylock's that lie in wait for...
Read moreBreakfast was one primary reason I stayed here. Variety of hot & cold items. I have a gluten allergy so worker checked label for potatoes for me & were ok. Hot Items changed over weekend. Omelets & sausage or bacon, variety of cut fruit, & yogurt. Boiled eggs, cereal, 2 juices. I could not have bread or pastries. Coffee tasted watered down when I had some in afternoon but room has a small coffee maker too. Breakfast food refilled often. I used the pool in AMs which offered a beautiful view of the mountains. Pool water had a light green cloudiness & staff cleaned floor there around 8-9 am but open 7am-10pm.. Nice gym. Location was another reason I stayed here but I had a vehicle. All workers friendly & helpful. This is a new hotel in an area being developed. Front desk friendly & efficient. Parking spots were plentiful & wide enough for pickups. Hotel had nice organization with social areas away from elevators & front desk traffic. Small open office area near breakfast tables. Table tennis by breakfast tables. Lots of games, puzzles & DVDs to borrow. My suite had a frig, 2 stovetop sites & microwave but no oven. shower had nice shampoo, conditioner, & shower gel. Lotion but was not my favorite. Ceiling fan over my comfortable bed & multiple pillows. They did not clean the 3 days I stayed but ok with that. Seemed like a very safe area. Clean interior & exterior. Lots of guests took their dogs outside. Patio & grill available but was too cold in early April. Pantry food at front desk is overpriced with a single serving bag of chips being $4 but there is an awesome grocery store Harmon’s Neighborhood grocery store 1 mile away. I went there multiple times. That grocery store is great! They have an amazing salad bar, lots of to go convenience food, a few gluten free bread items & a delicious gelato counter. This hotel is not within walking distance to food but the front desk gave me a free $0 Grub hub coupon at check in. I would stay here again. Nice place with many...
