We decided on a Mid-October weekend to spend some time in Duluth. After doing some online shopping on some travel sites, we saw the great reviews for this location, and even though it was a bit more expensive than other locations, we booked the stay....and it was a GOOD CHOICE! What a great place! Let's go over the "Goods/Greats"...... Owning a boat the "marina" part was very intriguing, and the location was near the Haunted Ship we had tickets to tour, plus being on Park Point with the lake on either side made it a done deal. Canal Park is within walking distance if you don't mind walking a bit. They also have a FREE shuttle service to Canal Park that is a nice touch! We did get a "land" facing room, which was a little less expensive, but the good news is, it over looks the parking lot! The grounds were well maintained, so it was still a decent view plus we could see our vehicle. Our dual queen room was clean and decent size and seemed "low key modern"! The bathroom was clean and decent size as well. The staff was extremely friendly/TOP NOTCH and did a GREAT JOB! The included breakfast was very nice! Not the stale bagels and old fruit you see in some locations, but eggs, potatoes, and sausage! They do have a "bar" on premise, but it is very small with limited choices. We did not get a chance to use the fitness center or the pool, and when we walked the property, there looked to be a nice outdoor fire pit as well! Overall, very impressive! Now for the "Not so goods"...... #1- They informed us check in was between 4 and 9PM????? With a 10:30AM check out time, that seems a bit late! (On a side note we did show up early and requested an early check in time, and they stated they would try to get us in early and would call us....and at about 2:30 they did call us stating we could check in!!! Nice touch....) #2- I am not sure what they did to the carpet outside our room, but it was WET! Maybe they cleaned it? It did not smell bad or was stained, but it was downright WET! #3- Being Mid-October the geese are traveling south, and they must LOVE the grounds as there was a BOAT LOAD of goose poop all over! Not really the hotels fault, but worth noting. #4- Some of the fixtures in the room were worn. Our desk chair seemed a bit old/used, and our light with built in USB ports was broken. Also, this may seem minor, but some of the light bulbs they had in the room were "cool" LED lights that give off a "blue-ish" tint that made the room feel cold, and industrial! A simple "warm" or "soft" colored LED bulb in all fixtures would make a BIG difference! I know...minor....but wanted to point this out.
Overall, I am giving them FIVE stars as we really did enjoy our stay, and we...

HI, 3 weeks ago we booked a room to have my 5 year old sons birthday party at your establishment. I even called earlier to to see what time we could arrive reiterating it was for my son's birthday. Normally this is something my girlfriend would have handled but she has been sick with covid for the last week and I've had to pick up the duties while working full time. As well as taking care of her and my son. This has been incredibly stressful but atleast we had a venue and things figured out for his birthday. It wasn't till a
I arrived and started setting up that the manager on (a lady with black hair and glasses) started rudely asking questions about his party. At 2:30 when our check in was at 3 she told me we weren't aloud to have the party there and we would have to leave. She said she would give a refund like that would some how help. Have you every tried to find a last mine place to have a pool party that your 5 your child has been looking forward to for a month? Along with trying to contact all the parents and his friend when you have no solution? This is the unprofessional thing I've ever seen. If there was a problem with us having the party they knew about for 3 weeks they should have informed us 3 weeks ago or even when I called at 10 a.m. at that short notice the company should have provided a replacement venue. None of this was done just "good luck have a nice day". We had a friend of my girlfriends mother go and help direct party goers to the new venue we found last minute. That will by the way for ever get the highest praise and all the business I can direct to them in the future. This same manager mentioned to him she canceled are party because she was quote "fully booked and didn't want kids running around". She refused to give me anyway to contact you so I had. To find the info online. This was the worst experience I've ever had at a business, to say your a family friendly place and to be so heartless on a child's birthday is disgusting.
Best of luck in the future but you've lost mine and anyone I ever talk to that's looking for a hotel or a venue.

Read moreI recently had an incredibly frustrating experience at the Park Point Marina Inn in Duluth. I had booked a stay for the 29th through a third-party app and arrived at the hotel just 15 minutes later. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, it was chaos. Kids were running around unchecked, and the front desk was understaffed, making it a challenge to even get the attention of an employee.
Upon finally getting assistance, I provided my reservation number, only to be told that they had no record of my stay. It turns out that the third-party app had somehow booked my reservation for the next night. While I understood that mistakes can happen, I immediately canceled the reservation through the app and even received a confirmation email as proof.
My frustration only grew when a week later, I noticed that I hadn't received a refund for the reservation. Confused, I reached out to the hotel and was shocked to learn that they were refusing a refund based on their "policy." I tried to reason with them, explaining that the mistake wasn't mine – I had booked for the 29th, not the 30th. They acknowledged the error but stubbornly clung to their policy, ignoring the fact that I had canceled my reservation within 45 minutes of making it.
The lack of empathy and understanding from the hotel's customer service was truly disheartening. It's as if their priority was to adhere to their policy rather than provide a satisfactory experience for their guests. This experience has left a sour taste in my mouth, and I feel compelled to caution anyone considering staying at the Park Point Marina Inn.
Moreover, if you're looking for a serene and peaceful environment, this is certainly not the place for you. The hotel seemed to resemble more of a daycare center than an accommodation for travelers seeking relaxation. The constant noise from kids running around and the proximity of rooms to the front desk and pool area only added to the overall chaotic atmosphere.
In conclusion, my stay at the Park Point Marina Inn was marked by terrible customer service, an unyielding adherence to policy over guest satisfaction, and an environment that resembled a bustling daycare. I strongly advise potential guests to approach this hotel with caution and perhaps explore other options that prioritize the comfort and tranquility of...
