Bayfront is beautiful! 3 1/2 stars The vendor prices are ridiculous!! The Blues fest is totally over regulated, it really takes the fun out of it. No Carry ins, having to dump out your own water and anything bought in the park, And be searched per entry.. I had to throw away my little bag of chips that I purchased IN the park after leaving the park for just a few minutes. Really?
A quenching drink mikes hard lemonade or something summery and tasty would be good to add on the drink selection.
It's capitalized and unfortunate because it's such an amazing event, but sooo regulated and over priced.
Try the Blues Fest in Durand WI. It's free!! First weekend in August. It's right on the chippewa river, beautiful! Way more vendors, bars right down the block, Blues from ALL OVER just the same! Camping is also a short distance, and their sponsored locally. And the bands play at the bars after the show in the Park. I don't understand why this event doesn't get local sponsors and stop the insane prices and crazy overdrive of taking away the enjoyment. It would be great if some of the bands played locally for other business after the event, we didn't hear anything about after bar entertainment. Over all, great line up just way over priced...
Read moreThis is a big open space on grass, so very nice for somewhere you might attend a concert or festival and be walking or standing for some hours. There isn't a lot of shade, but there are some land mounds towards the entrance, away from the lake, that have trees grouped on them. There you can get some shade. There is a restroom building, but usually during large events they provide plenty of portable toilets. There are usually food trucks at the events as well. I have attended concerts and beer festivals here. Always an enjoyable experience. Great background as the stage is set on the water's edge, and so you can watch huge lakers go by in the background on Lake Superior, and watch them go under the Aerial Lift bridge. The weather can be unpredictable in Duluth, but growing up here, we always said, "If you don't like the weather, just wait 10 minutes." This can be very true, as the All Pints North Beer Festival, that I attended in July of 2021, had some rain fall. I think it lasted less than 10 minutes, and then it was nice again. That day was quite hot, so the nice light rain was actually a welcome cool off period. It would be nice if there were more shady spots, but overall this is a great spot to...
Read moreMy fiancée and I visited Bentleyville for the first time, last week. Albeit it was raining during most of our experience, we still had a good time with friends and would recommend it being a place to visit at least once. Even if it was snowing, it would been fine.
Perhaps Hot Apple Cider could be sold at one of the stands as I was looking for it at every stop. Hot Cocoa and cookies were handed out at a couple booths. Don't forget to bring a non-parishable item--or few--to donate at one of the dropoff points at the site. I don't know if donations of cash is an option. It is definitely a lot of "wow!" for those who light a lot of different light displays and being outdoors (even with a lot of people) during anytime Bentleyville is open.
There were a few quirks with a couple of the displays while we were there, but overall a pretty good show. Good job to those involved with event!
Oh, and for those wondering, there is a passenger train that arrives/departs within a short walk from the site, arriving from destinations I haven't confirmed but believe are Fitgers and/or...
