When you spend almost 2 bills on a meal, you should get unbelievable favors. That was not the case. The Tuna Poke was very good. But the ribeye was ok at best. Cooked to the right temp but had to salt pretty heavy to get the meat flavor to come out. The marble part of the steak was even the buttery salty flavor that you get from the natural cooking of it. Aa far as the sides go, I got the garlic mashed, ok needed salt or butter to be great, and was also a little pasty insread of creamy kind like they were over cooked and then reheated. The other side was the Woodfire glazed carrots. They just tasted weird and did not have glaze on them unless it melted off again from sitting and reheating. My wife wanted the salmon, but they ran out. I'm not sure how you are out before the weekend barely started, but she chose the seafood pasta dish with the gluten free verson in the case was wild rice?? Instead for noodles? Anyway, the dish parts separately tasted good, but as a dish, they didn't go well together. On to service...at first it was great. However, as the night progressed, our wait became less and less available. Also, my wife tried a 3 wine she really liked the second one, but we were told that they only had the one open bottle left, and we wanted a bottle. Party because we were celebrating my wife's birthday. When the waiter came but after the 3 wine we tasted he said that the bar manager would let us have the rest of the bottle, that he side was 3/4 full, for the price of 2 glasses. We never got the bottle and were charged for the 3-4 oz pours. I know that is less than half of the bottle. We make wine so we know... the we noticed as we finished our meal that the table next to us which arrived after we got our wine had a bottle of the same wine we were told they had only the open one left. Meanwhile, the waiter was letting us know that the new manager was getting rid of and changing all kinds of stuff. His tip probably would have been a little better if once we were done, he gave us our bill instead of talking to the table next to us for upwards of 15 minutes while we waited and waited. Finally, the wife just decided to go out to the car, and I am still waiting for his chat with they table next to me end. According to Google, we came he 4 years ago and had a similar experience from my review. We decided to give you location another try, thinking that by now that there would be new employees and better food. What a disappointment, honestly.

My wife, some friends, and I made a trip up to the Duluth area to enjoy a few activities, and after a long day we were ready to grab something to eat. We came across Silos and figured it looked like a great spot to try. Parking wasn't terrible, but since the lot is shared by several nearby businesses, it was tough to find a good spot on a weekend. Once we parked and walked in, we were seated fairly quickly, which was a plus. That said, it did take a while before our server even acknowledged us. By the time he came over, we had been sitting for quite a bit, so we went ahead and ordered everything right away. My wife and I ordered the walleye cakes and a few drinks. When the drinks came out, my wife's Diet Pepsi was missing, so I had to ask our server to get it. For dinner, I ordered the Norwegian salmon with lemon pepper green beans and garlic mashed potatoes which was a wonderful combination. My wife had the seafood pasta, but it wasn't quite what the menu described. Not sure if there was a new chef or if something changed in the kitchen. Overall, it wasn't a bad first visit. There were some bumps, but the location is great--right off Lake Superior with outdoor seating and a beautiful view. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing, the menu has solid options, and when the food is prepared right, it's full of flavor. The drinks were also really good, even the virgin margarita was a smash hit. A few things could definitely be improved: service felt slow even though it wasn't very busy, and there wasn't any welcome or smiles when we arrived, just kind of routine. Parking can be tough, and if you have mobility issues, even the short walk from out front could be a bit much. That said, we're open to giving it another try. There are other items on the menu we're curious to try, and we visit Duluth at least once or twice a year so hopefully next time, the service will step up and this place can become one of our go-to spots.

We arrived on a Saturday during the first week of May without a reservation and we were seated immediately at a table with a great view of Bayfront Park with the signature Aerial Lift bridge in the back ground. While asking us if we would like water or anything else to drink the server let us know what the daily special was and the soup and vegetables of the day. The menu had a great selection of choices and the server kept checking with us to see if we were ready. This was because I took a while to decide. Our choices were the Silos signature burger and the walleye sandwich with both regular and sweet potato fries. Both of us were very pleased with our meal choices, both sandwiches were one of the better we have had in quite some time. Both were served hot and in a timely manner. Both the regular fries and sweet potato fries were very good., crispy hot and tasty. We will be going back to try other menu choices. This restaurant is the only one in DULUTH with such great views of the harbor and the Aerial Lift Bridge. I would suggest to allow time after your meal to take a walk or bike ride along the Lake walk as you can get on it adjacent to the restaurant and resort. The attached Pier B Resort is on my list of places to stay sometime in the near future. As the rooms would have fantastic views of the DULUTH Harbor to watch ships coming or going thru the Aerial Lift Bridge.

Let me start by saying my wife and I both spent over a decade waiting tables in various restaurants, so I have an extremely high threshold of grace. That said, this was a shockingly terrible experience. We made the mistake of choosing this place to celebrate our wedding anniversary and I could not have been more disappointed. We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation time and were sat immediately, but then waited over 15 minutes before being greeted by our server. It was not particularly busy and the rest of the staff not only did not check in on us but they conspicuously avoided eye contact and ignored our waves trying to find out who our server was meant to be. Again, having been a waiter, I understand getting sat and not being notified, but this is where someone needs to say, "Let me find your server for you!" rather than just pretend we don't exist while they deal with their own section. We ordered our food as soon as the server finally came over and she brought out the salad right away, which was good, but then it took another 40 minutes for our food to arrive. I ordered the steak sandwich ($24 dollars with a GF bun) that was meant to come topped with sautéed onion, truffle aioli, arugula, blue cheese; instead, it was four chewy bites of mediocre sirloin with a few wilted pieces of arugula and nothing else. I got the sweet potato fries which were cold and the sandwich was barely warm. After dropping off the food we never once saw our server again and had already been there for over an hour at this point, so I just ate the gross meal. (In fairness, my wife says her WILD MUSHROOM PESTO GNOCCHI was actually tasty, so perhaps I just got a terrible plate of food.) The server kindly gave us a free dessert for our anniversary, but then disappeared for another half an hour before we were finally able to flag her down and get our check. As stated, I have a lot of grace and understanding of working in food service and I did not want to make a big stink and wasn't looking for a free meal or anything, but I thought the manager might want to know about our experience so that they could improve in the future. Nope. As we were leaving the manager was at the host stand, made eye contact with me, and, when I smiled and was about to speak, he awkwardly looked down, turned 180, and darted away in the opposite direction. Not even a "Thanks for coming!" or "Hope to see you again" or anything. I would normally chalk it up to a bad server, a misfire in the kitchen, or some other reason for such an awful experience, but the consistency of failure made it feel like there is a systemic cultural issue here with the entire staff and management.

TL;DR: Duluth has some amazing dining establishments but Silos is NOT one of them. Check out OMC, Va Bene, Bellisio's, or almost any other option before overpaying for awful service and bland cold food missing most of...

My husband and I picked this hotel for our honeymoon. We loved the view from the hotel but the restaurant needs some work. First breakfast was bad. The food was cold, had no favor, had no butter options, and even ran out of some options they did have. To top it off the service was slow and our watress was eating in front of us instead of helping us. This is even more shocking because we just stayed at a hotel with complementary breakfast with no kitchen and it tasted better then what we had here with a full sized kitchen. The bacon was also different for breakfast then what they had at dinner. Really who uses a different cooking method or different bacon for different meals you’re telling your guest at the hotel they don’t matter. Now let’s talk about dinner.

Frist they tell us that it is going to be a 30 min wait when half the restaurant is empty. I understand there could have been reservations but I also worked in a restaurant and know how they work. If you have that many reservations at the same time you just put your kitchen and wait staff in the weeds. We decided to wait and when we got called up there was another couple that just showed up got sat right away in front of us with no wait. At this time I noticed that the restaurant was still half empty and they were even closing the outside section. They then put us is the same section as the couple before us and double sat the waiter. We were there for several minutes before a waiter even came. It was a different waiter then what was in the section meaning that our waiter asked another the help him out because they double sat them. Our waiter came three times to the table, one to take our order, one to take our plates and ones to give us the check. The food at dinner was ok but not worth the price. I almost laugh when I saw my husband’s steak dinner. It was half the size of my burger but cost twice as much. He said it had no flavor and he had better steak at Applebee’s. My burger had no flavor. I ended up adding ranch to the burger to give it flavor. Our waiter did end up comping our meal for us without us even asking but I was about to ask to talk to a manager and I think that was why they comped us because they knew they did a bad job. Overall I don’t know if I will stay at this hotel again because of the food. I do know that we will not eat here again. We didn’t even use all of our free breakfast vouchers because it...
