Great experience at this hotel! The location is great - too bad it's not on Lake Superior instead of the bay, but the views of the bay, the aerial lift bridge & the city of Duluth at night are lovely! (My room was on the top floor of this three-story hotel and on the west side of the building.) The hotel is very clean and modern. My king room was spacious with a mini 'fridge, microwave, two large screen tvs, a long desk, and couch in a "lounge area" of the room. The bed was very comfortable with 4 pillows and a cozy down comforter. Storage included a four drawer bureau and a narrow closet. The bathroom was modern with a nice vanity & and a large glass-doored shower with provided shampoo, conditioner & body wash conveniently mounted on the shower wall in (approximately) 16 ounce size bottles. (The lighting at the vanity could be brighter, and a heat lamp and exhaust fan would be nice to have in the bathroom.) My sink was slow to drain, so I reported it to the front desk. I reported it at noon, and by 5 pm when I returned to the room, a professional note on the bath vanity indicated that the drain issue had been attended to and included the name of the maintenance employee. (I've never had such prompt & professional service at a hotel before!) The hotel offers a gym and pool which are both smaller but nice bonuses! The pool area was clean, offered nice towels & the water had a nice temperature to enjoy playing with the kids. There is no jacuzzi on the premises, however, which doesn't matter to me. The first floor lobby is very welcoming with several areas to relax, enjoy complementary coffee, teas, infused water, and a shop to purchase sodas, snacks, and souvenirs. The hotel offers breakfast daily with a very nice selection, including dine in or takeaway frittatas, cereal, bagels, juice, etc. (Great for a business traveler to grab & go.) The weekend breakfast is more dine-in oriented, and the seating can accommodate many guests comfortably. There are plenty of nice choices of breakfast foods offered, sure to please every guest. The front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance staff were very pleasant and helpful. No matter my needs, the staff was friendly & accommodating. *great experience- highly recommend *

Do yourself a favor and stay at the property across the street. Very first thing seen in the room was a needle mark in the side of an almost empty toilet paper roll. Desk staff was unconcerned, and did not even offer to replace the roll. Major safety concern immediately. We also experienced a billing snafu due to desk staff error- which happens. What was far more frustrating was the series of emails and phone calls needed to fix such a simple error- manager Ellen seemed determined that we should pay nearly $700 (double-charge) for one night at a mediocre property. It took over a week for a simple charge correction that was over in moments once she decided to look into it. Extremely thin walls and floors- you will hear TVs and people peeing. Staff are unconcerned with guest experience or safety, management seems more interested in making excuses. Easily the most unpleasant stay I've ever had in Duluth.

Very disappointing. This room cost $350 a night. Paid extra for a harbor view (parking lot and boat slips). The room was smaller than one at My Place which costs 1/3 as much, and includes a full size refrigerator and stove burners. Take note of the pictures I posted. The stain is from before I entered the room. What I kept forgetting was I was in a Motel 6 maskerading as a Marriott. No room service, no kleenex, a few sheets of toilet paper, no plastic water cups. All these things had to be begged for at the front desk. Of course everything was blamed on COVID. Getting to be the optimal excuse for corporate incompetence and greed. The manager said they can't find help. I went to several restaurants that seemed to have the employees they needed. The reality is they won't pay help. Don't waste your money, stay away from Marriott.

Our experience with Fairfield Inns has ALWAYS been exceptional…except for this time. •The rooms are usually large and spacious with windows that overlook a promising view. Here we ‘enjoyed’ about a 12x12(?) room, overlooked an RV parking lot, though we could see the lift bridge in the background. The location is in an odd, back bay where they house the dredger, work in boats and store boneyard boats, along Park Point in Superior, WI. Not a real ‘calming and welcoming’ site.
•Also, the room, and especially the decor, was not a comfort…it had nice blue carpet and walls but had drab, olive green, very old style chairs…as if they came from another hotel and were put in the room so there was something there to sit on. The bathroom floor had sand all along the walls and corners, making us concerned about the cleanliness of the rest of the room. •The breakfast was certainly nothing to write home about. We realize that we are, hopefully, nearing the end of COVID, but more was made about the ‘breakfast’ than what was actually available. •And, finally, the hallways were extremely narrow (maybe 5’?), making it very difficult to walk down them. My husband holds my hand when we walk because I have a balance issue but, when we met someone in the hallway, he had to let go and walk in front of me to allow the other person to pass us. We have NEVER had an experience like this at a Fairfield Inn or even any other...

The hotel itself would be great for a short term stay because they have to clean the room for the next guest. I am here for business for several weeks and only 1 time has it thoroughly been cleaned. The cleaning was beyond acceptable - after 1 week, I had to come and ask front desk for linen, toilet paper, to vacuum, wipe clean surfaces, and dust. Same thing for next week - not a thorough cleaning, going on 8 days! I was told they are short staffed and tomorrow (9 days!). Dust all over, just not acceptable & after I removed linen, the mattress protector was so dirty as if it’s never been washed! In between 2-4 days they will take dirty towels and leave some new ones, maybe do the bed, and soap. The front desk was apologetic and would clean only after I come down and ask. Never staying here again. The rest is fine. Breakfast is great (oatmeal with various healthy toppings, sandwiches, omelets, sometimes potatoes, sausage, waffles, yogurt, dry cereal, some fruit, various dairy and non dairy milk, vegetarian options, and coffee and tea (caffeinated and herbal). If you get a nice harbor view it’s good. Parking is limited and the back one is not well lighted as told. Going to make accommodations somewhere else because of the non cleanliness. Otherwise the rest is great. The staff at the front desk and kitchen were caring...
