The Duluth Lakewalk — Attraction in Duluth

Love the Lakewalk! Duluth really improved canal park by adding the boardwalk space for walkers and the path for wheeled options. It's another beautiful way to take in canal park. The actually boardwalk could use some maintenance as some boards are loose, but it's not unsafe or anything. Good amount of benches to sit and relax! I do wish they made it easier to get down by the water in this area. I'm guessing it was redesigned this way to help with waves and erosion along with being a better ice/wave break in the winter. However, it's not accessible to get down to the water which is a bummer. Thankfully there are plenty of options to dip your toes in Lake Superior, just sometimes want to in canal park after shopping or a meal. Definitely worth taking a...

Nothing beats a dog friendly waterfront! (Unfortunately, the areas endless infrastructure projects last are projected to last longer than Rovers lifespan- so mentally prep for that if you tend to get a bit impatient with road construction)

Expect dust and foot detours, 2021+ as repair from storm damage/ modernisation/beautification project is underway.

The new lakefront is beautiful and an engineer marel to enjoy. Most tourists will not see the engineer marvel of the large boulders buried in the lake to break the incoming waves. Behind the boulders a thick concrete wall anchored deep in the ground offers a second layer of protection for the new lakefront. There's also a new system to drain away water from the waves that do crash over the wall. Some tourists might not appreciate the higher wall but it is aesthetically pleasing and more importantly safer for everyone and will keep all the hotel lakefront intact.
