Great Aquarium exceeded expectations! Lots of information lots of sea life and animals of all kinds. You can see otters, touch sturgeon, jellyfish and starfish. Loved the sturgeon and did not know they liked touch so much. The kids area is great minus being a little slippery. You won't be disappointed with lack of things to do and see. The electric eel to me was amazing and a must see. The otters were not out when we were there however you could smell them 😉 Would definitely go back even if it was just for the view of the water and lift bridge. Would go back definitely and almost did the following day but we were out of time on our vacation. The only con was the parking. To park you had to pay 10.00 Everytime you leave and enter. You had to pay using a QR code or a machine at the front. Even to just stop by the gift shop it would be 10.00 once you leave the parking lot. All in all a great place!

The aquarium itself is 4 star worthy. Not amazing, but enough to give my kids am awesome afternoon. The parking situation there, however, is a little sneaky. We've gone multiple times over the years and parking was always charged at the little parking thing with the gate as you pulled in. Now, the gate is up and no one is in it. There was no clear signage stating the parking payment was due elsewhere. We drive up and park. There were multiple school groups present and as we walked to the door with our 4 kids, we commented on all of the high school aged kids around the entrance. Apparently there was also a small sign and a kiosk in this same area to pay the parking fee ahead of time. It was not well marked and for all we know, kids could have been blocking the view to the single sign. We exit later to a $35 "parking ticket " issued by a private parking company. The aquarium staff were rude and initially did not want to help my husband with the issue. Eventually they helped call the company, but only after he got them to admit people get upset all the time due to not seeing the sign. Heads up, they don't make the parking situation clear and use a contracted service to trap you.

We were here on vacation. When we arrived, we were surprised to see the signs about parking. The signs told us to go to a certain website, which was confusing. We went to go to the front desk to ask them for help. We saw the parking machine next to the front door. We do not understand why the signs didn’t say that. We were not happy to see we had to pay a minimum 5 hours for $10. When we got inside, the lady at the service desk was talking on the phone. The line behind us was getting longer. We paid for admission without getting any sort of greeting. There were many different activities for us to do at the aquarium. Our son enjoyed watching the different marine life at the aquarium. Our son was a little nervous at the few animals he was able to touch such at jellyfish or starfish. They had a speaker tell us about sturgeons. Our son enjoyed his experience at the aquarium and that is what matters, but we feel the parking fee is quite shady.

The Great Lakes Aquarium is a truly magical visit for all ages. I recently revisited the aquarium for the first time since childhood with several first-time Duluth visitors, and noone left the visit without having learned something and without a smile on their face. We loved the interactive exhibits, from the sea life to the sturgeon, and really enjoyed the opportunity to be that much closer to some of the more ancient and amazing aquatic critters that inhabit this beautiful planet. The giant electric eel was fascinating as well, adorable in it's playful ways and antics as it rubbed against the floor and the walls for stimulation. The only downside is the cost, as parking and admission are both a bit steep, but the visit is definitely memorable and staff are friendly, making it worth the price in my opinion.

They gave a discount to my family because we are low income and the animals looked to be in good shape and we enjoyed the experience overall. Parking is a bit expensive at $10 but it was fine…my issue was the Asian guy running the sturgeon touch pool. He was extremely rude and ruined the experience for us. He was wayyyy too overboard when it came to touching them. I can understand some people don’t listen but everyone was and he was still being way too overbearing. His tone and how he said things was not needed. He even made some girl next to us embarassed and not want to touch the sturgeon anymore. Ridiculous. Don’t have something like that if you are going to be psycho about it. People get excited and forget sometimes. Calm down a bit. Other than that, my birthday there went decent.

If you are looking for a rain day or out of the hot sun day with your family…. This is a great option. Lots of little activities like touching the aquatic life, interactive displays, a little play ground area, and more. Variety of fish, birds, and even a skunk. Wasn’t very busy which was nice considering everywhere else in Duluth is full of people. Staff were friendly and had good suggestions. Also a nice view of the lift bridge! Only complaint was the parking situation was rather confusing. Sign in front of the main drive said “closed for construction” and so we parked in the playground lot behind the aquarium lot. Paid $15 … come to find out people drove around the “closed” sign and parked in the aquarium lot.
