I was hesitant about staying here and had some second thoughts after reviewing two of the rooms, but everything turned out okay. However, it wasn’t all that great and it definitely doesn’t compare to the average hotel, or motel for that matter. I often wonder what individuals are expecting when they decide to stay at a place that offers a room at such a low price. Let me give you a little bit of insight. If you want a place where you want comfort, cleanliness, and chocolate chip cookies in the lobby then do yourself a favor and continue driving until you do find that super-duper hotel. ||||If I’m not mistaken I think most of the reviews give it thumbs down. As some of the reviews have pointed out, this motel “is” definitely antiquated and it has seen better days. The one thing that attracted my attention was the low weekly rate, but for me, this usually raises a red flag. At the time I was visiting the Chickamauga National Battlefield Park for at least a week and needed a place that would allow me to save a few extra dollars. After much consideration, and research, I decided to give it a try. I asked the manager to show me a couple of rooms so I could decide if I really wanted to save a few extra dollars. After seeing the first room I was ready to get in my car and drive to that super-duper hotel! However, the second room was a lot better, not great, not horrible, but okay. Yes, the room could have used a thorough cleaning but it was tolerable. ||||The room was very spacious and decorated with the typical furniture found in any room. Although the furniture wasn’t all that great - it wasn’t really all that bad either. It did have an old and outdated TV but it worked just fine and had plenty of channels to choose from including HBO. I was very surprised that the wireless internet was fast and I never had any difficulty with it. The overall cleanliness of the room was fair, or less than fair. The bathroom was okay but the towels were smaller than normal. For me the bed was comfortable but I don’t think the bed cover had been cleaned in a long time. ||||The room also featured a small refrigerator and microwave. I left the microwave unplugged and didn’t care to take my chances with it. The air-conditioning was fair and it took a little longer than usual to cool the room, but when it did it was very pleasant and comfortable. The motel had a laundry facility but there is only one washer and dryer. For some reasons it always seemed to be in use. If I remember correctly the dryer wasn’t all that great. A swimming pool is located on the grounds but by its appearance it hasn’t been in service for at least a couple of years. Just about everything seemed to be antiquated with this establishment; however, it worked for me. I came prepared and brought a few things with me.||||The residential area where the motel is located was okay. I have to admit that since I wasn’t familiar with the neighborhood I felt a little uncomfortable the first couple of nights. This was probably due to some of the reviews I had read online. I was probably thinking about it too much and after the second night I felt relaxed. However, it never hurts to be aware of your surroundings. In the end I never had any problems. ||||There’s a Subway within walking distance and a grocery store is located just beyond the Subway. I think there was a Little Caesar’s or Domino’s Pizza down the road and on the other side of the street. A Pub is located directly across the road but I didn’t visit that establishment. A Walgreens is located about a quarter of a mile down the road in the opposite direction. ||The motel manager turned out to be a nice guy and answered all my questions. His wife didn’t look like very cordial but after making her smile she became very pleasant and I had a nice conversation with her. ||||I would recommend bringing your own towels, blankets, pillows, and shower shoes. I do this everywhere I go regardless of where I may end up. I like to be prepared. Would I stay here again? Yes, I would. Would I recommend staying here? It all depends if you can tolerate an...
Read moreWe stayed here this past weekend because it was a low budget motel. I have seen a lot of reviews on Google for this place and I have to say first of all, you're not going to get the Radisson for $40-50 a night. (They have weekly rates and accept cash or charge) This motel was probably built in the 30s or 40s and already had its hey day. I imagine it was a nice motel back in its day when Ruby Falls was first an attraction along with Rock City. Now it's a budget motel with basic rooms. With any place you get what you pay for. With this one, we got a clean room, comfortable beds that were not to hard, not to soft, no lumps, etc. They didn't feel like old mattresses. The linens were white and clean, no dirt or dust built up in the room or bathroom. We did have a flat screen TV hung on the wall with direct TV and hbo. Our room consisted of 2 beds, a short, long 6 drawer dresser, a small round table and 2 chairs, mini fridge and a microwave. If you are looking for a basic cheap room that you only need to lay your head at night, this will do. Given all this, you will not have a magazine looking room. There was tape over the light switch, a few small repaired holes, and the bath tub did looked old with normal discoloration from the age of it. There is a wall mounted a/c unit that cools the room nicely, but felt a bit humid in the heat of July. The motel advertises a pool on their sign, but it's been filled in with dirt and has grass growing over it. I think the owners do the best they can for upkeep and maintenance with the little bit they make off it. We did find 2 roaches, but they were American roaches that only come in to keep out of the weather. This is common through the south and isn't necessarily a sign of bad insect infestation of the motel. The only thing I can add is that they do charge for the ice machine. Not sure how much as it doesn't say, it takes, quarters. We didn't get any as it did look like it hadn't been cleaned in a while, so bring your own ice when...
Read more$180 a week to share your room with thousands of nymph German roaches and grown German roaches too. I kept noticing these little roach bugs and googled it. Turns out, they're nymph roaches. And they would be mainly in the bathroom area and sink area. Check the toilet, they were under the seat. Room said non smoking but yet. it reeked of cigarettes and even had a cigarette butt under the dresser. Wi-Fi doesn't work..neither does the freezer. Ruined my food the fridge barely gets cold. Forget about using the ac or heater, you turn it on and the roaches show up. A few that I seen with my own eyes were blown in by the heater/ac. The Room is dilapidated. Cards speed through the side of the parking lot for sketchy deals all night long. Vending machines don't work, the shower nozzle is as if you're being blasted with a fireman's hose, loud construction going on every morning all morning, and people smoking in their rooms next to ours but the smell was coming through cracks in the walls. The curtain didn't even cover The whole window and The outside light flooded our room with bright light all night long. What is up with the rooms in chattanooga???? I don't think they make good places to stay anymore in this town. The cascades motel would be better burnt down and rebuilt especially bc that's about The only way they'll get rid of that many roaches. Oh and NO REFUNDS. ||Sleep in your car, it would be better. Too bad mine was packed full our belongings. Oh and Check your bed for roaches too bc one was crawling on ours the morning we left. One good thing? Choo Choo bbq down The road is awesome and...
