WARNING: THIS IS GOING TO BE LENGTHY!!! So I arrived at this location in search of a 2 queen bed room. Having stayed at a Choice Hotel (Main Stay) in another state, I knew to check the website first before going in. So I go in and "Zakhary" in a not so friendly or unwelcoming demeanor tells me that the same room is $50 more than what's online. When I explained this, he wouldn't even look at the website or the information on my phone. But instead told me to make the reservation online myself. I attempt to make the reservation but in order to complete the transaction, I needed the rewards membership number. When I asked if he could look it up, he tells me to call Choice Hotels for the number. I asked to use their phone. He tells me, they don't have a phone for me to use although there is a phone behind the desk. A few minutes pass and he reluctantly looks up my information and gives it to me. One would think that at that point, he could have looked up the online pricing since HE HAD TO GO TO THE SAME WEBSITE TO GET THE MEMBERSHIP NUMBER!!! But no... At some point in all of the craziness, I left out and told him I would be right back. I was trying to find another hotel at the same time of finding the online price. The search for another hotel didn't work out but I did find the online price for a room with 2 queen beds for $73. I went ahead a purchased the reservation and reluctantly returned to the hotel. Now this same person tells me that the reservation is for a 1-king bed only. Thank God, I screen printed the price and the confirmation pages from the online transactions! BUT HE WOULD NOT LOOK AT IT!!! Just kept telling me that it was for a 1 king. At this point I am ready to pay extra to stay somewhere else. But instead I called the customer service for Choice Hotels. The first person I spoke to "discovered" that there were 2 reservations made for me at this same hotel. He did not have the authority to cancel the "wrong" reservation which meant I would owe them an additional $94. But he transferred me to someone named Tara. Tara takes a look and also sees that there are 2 reservations: 1) made/paid for online and 2) made at the hotel.. In other words Zakhary created a reservation in my name without my authorization!!! And because the cancellation period had passed, I would be financially responsible for that one in addition to the one already paid for. That would be the second time that he tried to get more money out of me. What really gets me is he wouldn't listen to anything. He wouldn't look at the "proof" that I had. He made it difficult and had I not called customer service he would've made an extra $100. He halfheartedly apologized when Tara told him his error (I had her on speakerphone). I WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN!!!! Zachary is an EPIC FAILURE when it comes to customer service. After reading this, if you decide to stay there, make sure you pay cash straight up or pay online before going in. There is no telling how many times he has gotten away with trying rip off customers! The SCAM ARTIST!!!! The one star is for Mina who helped me the next day in the...
Read moreMy husband and I arrived for a convention we were attending this past weekend. We arrived at the hotel at 12:45pm, knowing it was too early to check in but thought we can at least register. I advised the gentleman, I believe his name is Bhabib (as it was on the receipt), that I knew we were early but wanted to register. I gave him my ID and Credit card. He handed them back to me and told me he could not register me since it was early and did not know what room they would give us. He told me they would hold the reservation until 7am the next morning so I did not have to worry about checking in until I returned from the convention. At this time, we asked to use the bathroom and he showed us where it was. After my husband used the bathroom, he waited for me in the lobby. When I returned, I saw 2 couples by the check in desk with a female behind the counter. As we were walking out, my husband said those 2 couples were allowed to check in. I then went back in to find out why. I was waiting for the girl to finish when Bhabib came back out, whispered something to the girl and then went to the other computer. She approached him and whispered something back and they both looked at me. He then told me I could check in. I found it odd. He then checked me and by miracle, also gave me a room key. I found it amazing that I was able to get a room and be checked in by 12:54pm when I was told not even 10 mins before I could not. No apologies or any explanations. It appears as if Bhabib did not want to do as he should have. I have always been able to at least register before check in. Other than that fiasco, there were no other instances. Nice place but I don't know if I will stay here again next year if the employees are not willing to do what they are...
Read moreI recently stayed at your hotel while traveling through New Jersey and, unfortunately, the experience fell short of my expectations for a Choice property.
When I called the front desk to inquire about AAA rates, I was told that special rates were not being offered that day. I ended up booking a slightly better rate online on my own. During check-in, I requested four keys for our group of four but was informed that only two keys could be provided per room. This was quite inconvenient, and we had to manage with just two keys, coordinating our movements around that limitation. no information was provided about the amenities available on the property, such as the gym or the location of the ice machine. This would have been helpful to know upon arrival.
The rooms were generally clean; however, the toilet seats were not properly sanitized, which was disappointing. Additionally, for a room booked for four occupants with two queen-size beds, there were not enough toiletries provided, leading to further inconvenience.
At checkout, I asked for a receipt for the charges and was bluntly told that I needed to contact Choice customer service for that information. There were no courtesy questions about our stay or any effort to ensure we had a good experience.
Overall, the service and hospitality were lacking, making it feel more like a low-level motel rather than an established Choice property. I hope these issues can be addressed to improve the experience for...
