Sweet Dynasty Ice Cream — Restaurant in Edison

I was excited about trying some ice cream flavors that would be new to me, and Sweet Dynasty did not disappoint. I got the black sesame and ube, while my H got the taro flavor. The sesame was my favorite, followed by the taro. The ube was disappointing in that it's flavor was so mild as to be non-existent. I have had ube elsewhere, and the flavor was much more pronounced. Still, the ice cream was creamy with nice texture.

I had to take off a star for service, as despite the owner being very lovely to talk to, she would not allow us to sample flavors we wished to try. We had no way of knowing how we would like flavors like milk tea, lychee, mung bean and the like. We spent 15 dollars on three scoops of ice cream, and I didn't feel good about being denied the opportunity to see what suited my tastes. She said it was because she was out of tasting spoons. Ok, so order some more from Amazon or buy popsicle sticks or something. I think it may have been like an "out of service" sign posted on a restroom, just to prevent customers from using it. Not cool.

Love the ice cream flavors and quality! Black Sesame, Lychee, Mango, Milk Tea, Thai Tea, and Durian are some of our favorites. Very hard to find these flavors and quality in NJ. Owners are very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. Our kids liked the ice cream so much we ended up getting cakes for their birthday parties. One cake was two flavors/layers: Black Sesame and Mango. The other cake was Mango and Lychee. They were very careful to make sure the Mango and Lychee cake did not get cross contaminated with any Peanut or Black Sesame since we had kids at the party with food allergies. Cakes came out great and well designed with ice cream cones on top with little scoops of ice cream. Adults really liked the Durian ice cream. Will continue to come here for their ice...

Some of the best flavors of ice cream I’ve seen in a long time .

Run by a very talented Mom and her son , the ice creams here are made in small batches and flavors range from Taro, Thai ice tea to the usuals like Chocolate . They have some real interesting ones like green tea and red mung bean, ube and some others that I don’t think I know about .

I’ll recommend to sample and find your flavor , mine was the Taro , it had the taro flavor till the last bite , the ice creams here are less sweet and that’s what I’ve always wanted them to be , bring out the flavors not the sugar. I sampled the coffee, Thai ice tea and milk tea , I’ll also recommend the coffee ice cream if you are a coffee person.
