Absolutely DISGUSTING! The Daughter of owner who runs the office is RUDE, Argumentive and they kept Charging my credit card Way over what was listed on Hotels.com. Every time I brought it to her attention she argued w me claiming they aren't doing it. The motel also charges a $2 key card fee and a $5 cleaning fee NOT mentioned Plus Sales Tax. Hotels.com said Yes, it's the hotel not Hotels.com because I selected to pay the site directly. The Motel is disgusting. We got to our room and it was Filthy and smelled like HUMAN URINE, CIGARETTES AND MILDEW. The carpet felt wet. The windows were open I'm guessing to air it out before we arrived. The HUGE yellow stains on the box spring appeared to be the color of Urine. The window screen to the front of the room/parking lot was previously Pried open because there is a gaping hole between window frame and screen frame. I did not feel safe at all. The beds are horrible and feel every spring. They don't match either. We had a two Queens room but they looked more like Full sized mattresses (I used to sell beds so yes you can quote me on this!)! The old bedding was gross. They skimp on towels. One barely covered my chest. The corrosion of metals of the sink and bathroom faucets was awful. The towel rack is Rusty where they keep your "fresh new towels" and the fire sprinkler is rusty. The ceiling fan in bathroom doesn't work and everything is layered in grime. The bathtub and shower walls were PAINTED and peeling off. The doorframes had holes drilled into them and someone put caulking in the holes and just left it. Same with what appears to be a hole in the bedroom wall. The toilet has a huge rust hole/spot in it. The toilet makes a crazy weird noise when flushed. There was a desk and chair. The desk was like it was rotting under the glass (see pics) , the glass had not been washed off and crusty stuff on surface. The legs were so banged up. The chair looked like it was clawed up by a Cat! Peeling the pretend leather off of it. The carpet was blackened in the pathway from the door to the bathroom. Bathroom is TINY btw. Claustrophobic people beware. Oh yeah, Did I mention the Smell??? Horrid!!! The bedroom is not the correct size for two beds as you can see by the way they CUT THE DOORFRAME to the adjoining room so the headboard and bedframe of bed #2 would appear to fit (again see pictures). The curtains are falling off the rod. They didn't even tell us WHERE our room was when we arrived, we had to check in after hours through a glass window while we stood OUTSIDE. Same lady, super crabby that we were there at that time but we called ahead and they KNEW for two days, reconfirming several times with them, that we were on our way just running late. ||Anyway, we stay in over 150 hotels across America every year and this one hands down was the WORST!||Don't be caught up with the Price being low for "North Encinitas" as this location is just the Postal Code and actually resides in the next town north of it. It does Not have Handicapped Access parking that I could find. The lot is so small and too small for a Van or full sized SUV how the lines are drawn on the ground. We finally asked a maintenance man to use his Construction Cones to save our space when we got back. Only one side of the vehicle could open though so my husband had to back out of the spot to let me into the vehicle. ||The smoke detector is missing from the ceiling. ||Their picture shows a nice walkway to the beach. NOPE. Especially Nope if you're disabled at all. It's a steep climb up to the top of a hill and then down over 200 stairs to get there. Not happening. They had a "Queen" bed leaning up against the building outside that was clearly trash. The parking lot is definitely lit up. So much so that it beams light into your eyes all night through the holes in the curtains! Not sleeping anyways on that hard nasty smelly mattress. You do Not need that many LED lights in such a small parking lot! ||The smell, size, disgusting cleaning service, and the disorderly and even fraudulent conduct of the staff will keep me away forever. Regardless of who ever owns it in the future. They still had food in my freezer! There were burn holes in bedding. An earring hook was stuck in the carpet that I found with my foot. That is also when I found the carpet felt wet. Not a good mix. The bathroom window is white from water damage. There is a rusty hole in the bathroom wall by the toilet and shower. ||||Note: READ THE REVIEWS. Dog deeper than what they had their Friends write for them. There are people who Live in this motel who were put out for the weekend due to the owners being able to sell rooms for more money this weekend due to a local concert. I watched Three regulars get sent packing while I was in the office on my first morning there trying to figure out why they were overcharging me. One man there said they do...

For 20 days i paid $2060. I GOT A $140 DISCOUNT! :-))
THANKYOU LORD JESUS:-)
They say my downstairs room must be inspected & cleaned every two days.
They *did offer me a choice between upstairs and downstairs but I am recovering from hip & leg injury I don't want to aggravate; even tho I prefer to be up stairs normally..
but I *do appreciate the choice. THANKYOU
I am better; the injury is much better; but im still a bit stiff and painful on the left hip and still limp a bit.
I got one room key 4 room & had to request front desk 4
A "do not disturb sign" for the door . Daysleeper/ night owl/& introvert. :-)
I HAVENT FINISHED UNPACKING anything YET, EITHER. Just a couple items 4 the room "test"
I like this room because its NORTH West FACING & the front window opens fully and there is a bathroom window for the proper airing out of stale air (Luften) of my room.
It's otherwise VERY CLEAN & QUIET HERE. LOVE THIS *!!
...I dunno about all the bad reports Ive read on the website. These are incorrect from my perspective, IMHO.
Everything here is amazing, Its well cared for here and very clean. ( April 1, 2025 @ 12 noon )
Carpet in bedroom. New tile floor upgrades bathroom toilet fixture looks new too
Most all other hotel travellers had already left early Monday and so motel was wide open, so I showed up in person also ( bright & early ) to get my name placed on the "waiting list" 4 a room.
I didn't feel that just a phone call was enough.
They probably get a bazillion phone calls already forwarded 2 answering svcs daily.
( yeah I've seen all the overflow of crowding in SD round here ) :-(
So I was told to come back at 2pm. So I showed up at (1:15..didn't wanna be late)
(This looks like a studio room. They gave me for $110 )
TV & REMOTE I have not yet tested because I have not been here quite 24 hours till 1 pm & still have 2 unpack.
My downstairs room has a mini fridgerator and microwave; & looks like a brand new air conditioner unit here too :-) all equipment good.
...THANKYOU so very much for this lovely room.
I am very VERY tired & FRAZZLED from the 1600 mile drive from Washington state; I picked this specific coastal area for its moderate weather.
PLUS IM now a 64.5 years old; (being a MARATHON traveller for 25 years) and a retiree pensioner female.
San Diego is an area where I used to live many years ago; but not in this specific region and I'm searching for another permanent residence;
but I just got here from PNW (Pacific Northwest) 24 hours ago? Still decompressing from the long driving trip.
Prayed a lot. It's been pretty stressful out there on the roads lately. Shelter from the weather & Safety is a priority; especially for older female travellers; IMHO. Especially from the hot sun I need a place to shelter because I get severe medical problems from the summers heat.
But the HOLIDAYS ARE much WORSE 4 SURE.
PLUS, ALL THE STRESS FROM THE LONG DRIVE MADE ME PHYSICALLY SICK LAST NIGHT BUT I AM BETTER TODAY.
NEED MORE REST 4 SURE. STOMACH FLU FROM STRESS & MASS TRAFFIC EXPOSURE & DRIVING.
I REPEAT; Because of the inherent importance & MUST BE NOTED 4 all female single travellers.
I Feel very safe here, even tho i am brand new to this particular area, I DO feel safe. A HUGE PLUS :-))
Thankyou SO VERY MUCH again for this room . Very appreciative.
AND I DO realise HOW IMPORTANT is THIS SEASON AND EASTER HOLIDAY SUMMER 4 THE TRAVELLER SEASON.
PLUS ITS SPRING BREAK SEASON.
MASS POPULATIONS OF TRAVELLERS ARE OUT ON THE ROADS RIGHT NOW; PLUS ALL THE LA FIRE EVACUEES; PLUS HOMELESS CAR CAMPERS TOO;
SO THIS IS A "BRAND NEW NIGHTMARE" IVE NEVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE.
I dunno what to do but seek shelter asap.
THE EASTER HOLIDAY SEASON; LASTING MOST ALL OF THE MONTH OF APRIL & ALL HOTELS ARE FULL.
(I WAITED THREE DAYS JUST 2 TO GET THIS ROOM)
CAUSE EVERYWHERE IS FULL UP FOR THE HOLIDAY AND ITS SUMMER RATES TOO.
APOLOGISE FOR ANY REDUNDANCIES; IM STILL VERY TIRED.
Thankyou GOD BLESS...

These people charge a daily $2.50 fee in addition to the regular cost, and a $2 key fee per key. Their ATM charged my card an additional $2.50 on top of the $3 fee it already charges. So I was getting charged an additional $12 on top of the room cost, which is totally unacceptable.
Never in my life have I dealt with such unprofessional employees. I'm pretty sure they're forced to work there.
This motel is family owned and run very poorly. The son and daughter of the alledged owners deflect every issue to 'management', who shows up only 'once a month or so' according to them. The management is their parents, they're the owners. And they won't acknowledge you if you have any issues. You'll see them around the property, but their son and daughter (the daughter has a very poor attitude, by the way; the son is generally kind, but once you bring up an issue, he'll generally ignore it) are the only ones who work at the front desk, with another young woman you'll occasionally see work the front desk. She seems much more respectful, but she's hardly ever there, which is a shame.
They have an on-call maintenance guy who does the bare minimum; he'll take your broken appliance and put it in another room for someone else to deal with. Really! He took our loud AC unit and fridge, and put them in the room next door for our neighbors to deal with. We got theirs. How is that fair to them?
The cleaning staff is very kind. Unfortunately, we suspect they're being heavily exploited by the family from our observations.
The washers and dryers are always broken. If you want to come here for that, don't hold your breath. You'll probably have to use a laundromat. We only got to use them once in our 25 day stay.
I gotta admit, the room itself was good, with the only problem being the aforementioned maintenance issues that were eventually sorted out, and noise complaints.
Positives? It's affordable for being in Encinitas, and it's close to the beach. The room is spacious and the housekeepers do a good job. But it's not worth dealing with the front desk 'employees'.
We were ultimately asked to leave (illegally) before 28 days due to us calling the police to come take care of the noise because the employee couldn't be bothered to actually do anything about it, despite asking him to multiple times.
See that situation for yourself if you're curious; I posted the emails below. I added a recording of the noise as well.
Needless to say, I'll take my business elsewhere. I hope I've convinced you to do the same. I don't want anyone else to go...
