The women who have created this shop not only have they found, curated, and continue to offer beautiful options for gifts but they also are warm, welcoming, and strive to not only invite others to see the world differently through their purchases, but they LEAD this in their actions, in the way they run their shop, the statements that they make through the products they carry and the conversations that the invoke, and the energy that they keep in the space. Instead of responding respectfully -- or simply choosing not to engage -- the owner posted a surveillance photo of my friend writing the note on her Instagram story, along with a crude comment about "wiping" her butt with it.
It's one thing to disagree; it's another to publicly mock a customer who expressed themselves respectfully. Disagreement can happen without disrespect.
My concern is not about the store's right to sell a product or their stance on any issue -- it's about the unprofessional and inappropriate decision to ridicule a customer publicly.
