Nice campground overall. The sights are fairly level and have a small amount of space to sit out. The roads are gravel and do stir up dust. The shower houses are very clean. Depending on your spot, it could be quite a walk uphill to get to them though. They offer decent laundry services and have a bill change machine. The playground is good for smaller children. The miniature golf course is nothing to brag about. It’s run down and in desperate need of attention. You have to check out the golf clubs in your name and by 5:00 or you can’t play. The pool is available between certain hours and behind a gated fence. The hot tub is cemented over and nonexistent. They have sites for primitive camping clear up to Class A Motor homes. The location to RMNP is superb. The park is fairly quiet with only occasional truck brakes from the highway behind it. They allow dogs on leashes. They offer ice and a few other items at the check in desk. Employees live on site, were friendly, but only available before 5:00 PM. We would stay here again if we come to visit the area another time.

Dust bowl with a beautiful view Pros: easy to park camper, mostly level sites, beautiful views of mountain peaks, electricity/water/sewer all worked well, really nice bathrooms and showers, newer playground equipment, super close to RMNP, offers some shade and trees and it wasn’t too crowded. Putt-putt is free and they offer a pool and hot tub but these weren’t open when we were here. The front desk folks were nice but provided misinformation. Cons: Lots of dust, dirt and rocks. Price seems kinda high ($79/night) and I hear cancellation policy is super strict (no refunds- at all). We asked to stay for late check out and were charged extra $27. There are lots of mole holes. No fire pit at rv sites, only tent sites, but wasn’t told that when I called. We stayed in row A and were told it was premium because it backs right up to RMNP, which it does, but it’s the main road to the park that it backs up to - lots of cars coming and going. Putt-putt was fun but could use some upgrades. Overall we enjoyed our stay but we might try another place next time.

We were very pleased with Elk Meadow Lodge and RV Park on our recent trip to Estes Park. The staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to assist in trouble shooting an issue I had with my 50 Amp cable. One staffer in particular that stuck out was a gentleman named Kevin. He loved our Great Dane, and would take every opportunity to stop and talk to our dog, and give us a quick scratch. Lol. Another Gentleman working there that was very kind to us, and I am very sorry not to remember his name, loaned us his personal 50 Amp cord to use while I ran down the mountain to buy a new one. We were absolutely pleased with this Park! The scenery from in the park is beautiful, and it was very well kept, as well. We will be back...100% Jeff and Coleen

More|3|Julienne Donaldson|1 review|just now|NEW|Vacation | Couple|Well, what is there to say about Elk Meadow Lodge and RV. We booked a tent site for Fri-Sun. We are a fully contained truck with a roof top tent but we're not allowed an RV site (despite the fact we would have loved electricity and water, and were willing to pay for that luxury). We pulled in after hours to a $h1t show. Our site was unlevel (in the extreme, I pity the people in ground tents that don't have leveling blocks), had no picnic table, and had our neighbors fire pit 6 feet from the side of our truck. Since it was after hours I had to call the 'emergency number' so that my boyfriend and I would have the $50 a night luxury of cooking our dinner on a table. I also expressed concerns about the fire pit damaging our truck or roof top tent, to which I was told "well what do you want us to do, since we can't move the fire pit". Obviously not Jill, but I would like to bring it to your attention. She also offered to have us move sites, but since all the fire rings are in the parking space, I'm not quite sure what that would accomplish (excellent planning on their part!!). When Jill, and I'm assuming her husband arrived with the picnic table (all praise Jill for providing what we paid for!) They were nothing but mean, snarky and downright rude. The excuse for lack of a table was "were closing sites for winter). I'm writing this after only being at the offending RV park for 1.5 hours, but I can't wait to leave. You should save yourself the trouble by never entering in the first place. At least the views were pretty, if you like highway noise.||Update #1: Boyfriend almost got bitten by a black widow in the bathroom while turning on the light, someome flew a drone, very low, over our tent at 8 in the morning, children were screaming like coyotes all night (seriously), and it's been a rare moment that dogs have not been barking, yapping or howling (no not the kids this time). And I just got to hear the staff gossiping about us requesting a table. Can't wait to see what tonight brings!||P.S. I am so excited to see what their reply is to...

This review is from a recent experience at the Elk Meadows Lodge and RV Resort located in Estes Park, Colorado. We had previously stayed at this resort and were hoping to recap some pleasant memories from the past. Not to be so.

We had a family gathering of 3 families and chose to have an RV site as well as an adjoining cabin. We arrived and set up camp, enjoyed a fun family evening and then set off to bed. That is when it all went south. The cabin was overrun by bedbugs and mites. Our 1 and 3 year old granddaughters were covered and were of course scared and upset. Their parents too; now clearly were experiencing similar issues with the bugs. Literally, there were so many, they were climbing the walls. At 3:30 in the morning, there was no alternative but to take the family to the bathhouse, strip them clean of all infested garments, bathe them, and then find alternative clothing. EVERYTHING in the cabin had to be removed, cleaned, or washed to attempt to rid the family and possessions of these horrible parasites.

Of course, we needed some help and immediately called the “Emergency” number listed on our check-in materials. What? No answer. Let’s try again. VOICE MAIL? Yes, this was the response from the emergency number. Six attempts later, we finally got a reply. The reply came with sympathy but no support. “Stop by in the morning after 8:00 and we will see what we can do.” Are you kidding me? This is how they handle an emergency? Just think
..

So the next morning, I was given some change to wash/dry our clothes and the cabin was refunded as it was non-usable. Washing clothes took the better part of the morning as everything needed to be cleaned. So much for our Estes Park plans. Following the washing session, we decided as a family that the ten of us could not stay in the trailer and that we would have to go home. We were offered a Tee-Pee as a compensation for the bugs. Understand you have to have your own bedding? Oh that’s right, it was full of bugs from the cabin. Their reply; “We have some old sleeping bags that someone left”. Their solution. I asked for an obvious refund. Their maintenance issue had caused us to leave. No word from the owner. They replied, “Well, he is in the canyon and can’t be reached.” For what it's worth, cell service is strong throughout the canyon and front range. Well, he is in meetings and asked not to be bothered. (I guess we are a bother when his cabins are full of bugs). We NEVER had a chance to discuss the issue with him. The staff also, refused to communicate with us for the next several days as we tried to move the process forward for a possible refund and compensation for lost items. We had to leave our “Pak-N-Play” for obvious reasons. Again the management’s reply; “Well, we emailed him and left a voice message”
. Little effort on the part of the staff but NO EFFORT from the owner. How sad. One begins to see why the reviews are so low. I asked to talk to the owner.

Finally, we have had to go through our credit card company to protest this charge. As of today, there has been NO RESPONSE from Elk Meadows as well. Thank goodness for the support we received from the card company.

Things happen. I understand that. But it is how businesses respond that makes them poor, good, or great. Sadly we experienced how “POORLY” Elk Meadows handles situations. They don’t. Take this for what it is. You may enjoy your stay there but understand if you have issues, you may be on your own. You decide on your next trip. There certainly are other choices as well as the National Park. Read the other reviews and I am guessing you may make other choices. I know we are done with Elk Meadows and will certainly network with other RV’rs as we...

We arrived at 12:38 PM. It was a quiet summer day, and the RV park was not anywhere near full or busy.We pulled up behind a fellow checking in with a fifth wheel. I thought it was a bit odd when I saw him make a U-turn and pull back out of the check-in area. I went to the front desk and talked to a very nice lady named Jennifer. She explained to me that there was a $25 fine for arriving before 1 o’clock. At first I thought it was a joke, but she humbly explained that it was the owners policy, not hers.

When I informed her that it was nothing less than extortion, she suggested that I go drive around for 20 minutes and come back. I told her we have been driving all day and that was not an option. Their overflow parking lot was completely empty, there was not a soul in sight.

After I told her that I would just sit right where I was and wait 20 minutes, she said that was not an option. I had to move. She disappeared behind the counter for a few minutes then came back and said I could stay in the overflow until 1 o’clock. Again she apologized and was very polite. Without belaboring the issue, over the next 20 minutes, three different people that work there, told me I had to move, pay a fine , or leave. Since I had already pre-paid my stay, this was becoming a problem very quickly.

Thanks to Jennifer she finally got it straightened out, and at 1:01 PM I checked in without paying a fine. I would not recommend this place to anybody, but Jennifer should get accolades for her customer service.

Now to the RV park. It is a dusty gravel parking lot without one single tree on the property. The sites are narrow, and stair stepped in order to remain level. We are crammed in here like sardines in a can. The swimming pool that is advertised it shut down, with a sign that says due to Covid. We have been to five other RV parks in the last month, all pools and hot tubs are operable at them.

The Internet does not work no matter where you are on the property.

The gravel roads are rough and rutted. When you try to pull into your site, everything falls out of your refrigerator.

When your slides are extended, there is no place to put chairs comfortably.

There is at least cable TV which is beneficial.

The only real good thing about this park is the proximity to Rocky Mountain national Park. Once you pull left out of the entrance, it is basically one minute to the park.

Estes Park is one of the prettiest mountain towns around. We are in a 42 foot motorhome, so it is difficult to find sites up here that will accommodate us. We stayed here for three days in July. If it were not for Jennifers good customer service, I would have made a U-turn on the day that I got here and found somewhere else to go.

Hopefully the owner of this park will read the review and reevaluate their $25 extortion fee. It is the most ridiculous and insulting thing I have seen in my 30 years of camping.

MY REVIEW CONTINUED- It has been almost 2 months since my stay at Elk Meadows. I have received 2 email requests from info@elkmeadows, asking me to "review" my stay there. I replied to both requests with a simple comment. "If you would like to discuss how you could improve your campground, call me at this phone number". Another month has passed, and they have not responded by phone or text. I am willing to give businesses a second or even third chance if they are willing to look at their own poor service policies. This business is apparently owned by someone who doesnt care to improve....
