My cousin and his finance were coming to CO to get married in Rocky Mountain National Park. I live 2 hours away so I decided to book one night near where they would be staying. I arrived around 3:00pm to check in and grab my key and then continue celebrating their wedding. Check-in was super easy because I found out as I was checking in that I was the only guest at the inn. Jessica was very nice and said I could park near my door. I went to check out the room and I could NOT open the door. I tried both locks on the door for over a minute before I went back to ask for help. Jessica came out and fumbled with the key a bit, opened the door and left. The room looked nice. I was in it for less that 30 seconds. I closed the door and tried again to open it and the lock was stuck. My cousin came out to help and after a minute they could open it. We closed the door and then neither of us could unlock the door again. I went back to the office and said the lock was difficult. I asked if there was another key to try. She said he husband had a copy and they would leave it by the ice machine (I don't know where that is) for when I returned. I explained that I was concerned about getting locked out very late at night in the cold. She said they would be available nearby if I was locked out. At 10:45 I texted saying I would not be staying in the room. I was still hanging with my cousins and didn't want to deal with texting them in the dark cold at 1-2am and waiting alone outside the room. I told her my family was concerned about my being the only guest (female) in the place and that the door was not easy to unlock. Jessica responded within 5 minutes saying they were waiting up for me. She was polite. However, I don't understand why they didn't offer me another room when I first had lock issues, and we could have tried the key at that moment. I didn't want to be on a time schedule while celebrating my cousin's wedding and I didn't want to risk getting locked out and driving around in the mountains at night. I ended up not staying there (slept on a small couch instead) and returned my key the next day. I am disappointed that they didn't offer me another room on the spot, or offer to give a partial refund for the room that I didn't stay in. If I am in that area, I won't choose Alpine Trail...
Read moreReserved this hotel stay on Expedia and was misled by inaccurate reviews. The reviews are either faked or the hotel has different mattresses in different rooms.. we were given room 119 and the bed was harder than the floor. The bathroom was tiny and almost clean and didn't have a vent fan. The hotel is right off the busy road. We got a refund and drove down the road to Blue Door Inn. Which was ok . Estes seems to be one of the only places on earth that you can run a really crappy old run down hotel with very little to zero renovations or cleanliness and still get away with charging $200 a night .
Updated since managers response 9.9.25 We were only PARTIALLY refunded and when asked about why the manager Beth says it's because we left and didn't take their offer for an upgraded suite or different room which was not offered or even brought up in the conversation between Seven and I when we told her the bed was too hard for us to stay. The hotel being "closer" to RMNP is not a huge flex as EVERY hotel in Estes is only 5 mins from RMNP. And you point out in your response that you have several reviews about clean and comfy rooms but you also have reviews like Kristen's from two weeks ago that say the bed was hard as a rock or John who recommends not paying before hand . You maybe have some nice rooms but we were not given one of those. We were told we would be refunded and that was partially a lie. This place is dilapidated and in need of repairs and renovations , the beds at least in 119 need replaced. You stated on the phone that some people think the beds are too hard some think they are too soft but stop lying to yourself and admit the bed in that room is unsleepable. I would like to see you sleep on that bed one night then revisit this refund situation. The manager and owners are out of their element and incompetent, unprofessional at best. We will be leaving reviews on every site possible and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. But I have a feeling this hotel will be under new ownership and new management...
Read moreI had booked a room back in April for my sister and myself. She had worked at this property years ago, and had suggested it, as it was a nice place. The trip was set for the end of this month, but we recently decided to go somewhere else instead. I wanted to cancel my reservation ASAP, just so they had a room to reserve out to others who may be interested. As the confirmation email mentioned, they wanted a minimum of 14 days for cancelling reservations, which I did adhere to, and then some. I spoke with Amanda, twice, in regards to cancelling my reservation, and she was incredibly rude both times. The first time I called, I never received any sort of cancellation confirmation, so I called again several days later to verify that everything was taken care of. I then received an email, but it said nothing about the reservation being cancelled; it was the same confirmation email I’d received in April. The only difference is that it showed the balance as $0, which would make sense, as I’d paid for the room in full at the reservation time in April. I sent an email back, since I wasn’t sure how a confirmation email was the same as a cancellation email, especially when the word “cancelled” was nowhere mentioned, and the response back was just as snide as the phone conversations. All the email response said was the $0 balance meant it was cancelled. Perhaps better verbiage, as well as better customer service, would have prevented me from saying anything on here. I know nothing about the property itself, however, dealing with Amanda (who I also suspect sent the response to my email inquiry) has left a bad taste in my mouth, and I’ll likely consider different lodging when planning a trip to Estes Park...
