October 2022 - We had a Dr appt in the area, this location worked well for the appt. Thought I'd give it another try - This time I would give 5 stars! Very nice facility. Quiet, and felt safe. Easy on/off the hwy. Room was great, especially for the price. Breakfast was scrambled eggs and bacon with various bread products. Lots of fresh fruit. Juices, coffee, cereals. Can't complain (other than a waffle would have been nice.) This visit there was EXCELLENT desk coverage, happy and helpful people. My husband uses a walker and they put us in a great room, second floor right across the hall from the elevator doors, plenty of grab bars in the bathroom. Couldn't ask for more. We didn't use the shuttle so I can't comment on that. I would give 5 stars except my previous experience was not good, so averaged to 4 stars.
September 2022 - We chose this La Quinta location due to proximity to DFW airport, my granddaughter, Amy, was arriving late and we wanted her to catch the shuttle over. The GOOD news about the stay was it was nicely appointed, clean, NO BUGS (I run when I read reviews of roaches and bed bugs), and nice indoor pool and hot tub! A good enough breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage patties, bisquits but no gravy, large basket of fresh fruit, several fruit juices, cereal; no it is not as good as a restaurant but you're not paying about $10/person for breakfast. Now the BAD news. Check in starts at 3 PM, I arrived at about 4 PM and there were 3 unhappy people ahead of me. They had been there 30 minutes waiting - NOBODY at the front desk! I called and phone rang, but nobody to answer it although I saw a lady peak around the corner from behind the desk. So I called reservations and said they needed to call a manager or someone to get us checked in! About 30 minutes later (and a dozen more disgruntled guests waiting to check in) a man hurried in and started checking us in. What would have happened had there been an emergency and nobody covering the desk? The room was nice, the only problem I saw was the shower curtain was a curtain that did not stay in the tub, so the floor was drenched when we exited the shower. Now for the SHUTTLE. My daughter, Sue, wanted to meet Amy (who is 23, not a child) at the airport and the shuttle said she could ride over and stated the time it would leave to accommodate the 9:40 arrival. She was waiting in the lobby, the desk guy went to talk to driver in spanish, and the shuttle drove away without her. But it came back in time so she could ride to airport. Amy was delayed due to luggage delivery and the driver kicked Sue off the shuttle, he wouldn't wait. When Amy attempted to call the front desk to get the shuttle back NOBODY was manning the desk phone again! She called me, I was enjoying the hot tub, and I had to go find the desk guy and arrange for the pickup. When I attempted to use my key card for my room it didn't work. So back to the front desk, and he quickly gave me a key card to unlock the room number I said. Being in swimsuit I didn't have ID to show I belonged in that room, but he didn't ask to confirm, so I could have gotten into anybody's room if I was of a mind to. Finally, I heard a knock on my room's door, it was my girls - their key card wouldn't work either. In summary - for the actual facility I'd rank it 5 stars, but for the staffing 0 stars. PS. Due to the screw up at check in we were told the manager was giving us a discount, but no discount appeared on my credit...
Read moreAlthough the hotel itself was okay, the horrendous customer service we received by the front desk staff, specifically one lady, will ensure we never stay at any hotel by LaQuinta or Wyndham. After a day of cancelled and delayed flights, our airline gave us a voucher with a phone number to call a shuttle to get to a hotel for the night. We knew know one in the entire country, and had never been to Dallas and were never supposed to be there more than an hour in the airport. We called shuttle at 8:30pm. Waited for 1 hour on the side of the road at the pickup spot before calling the hotel front desk to inquire whether or not the shuttle was still coming, since the shuttle driver would not pick up the phone or answer texts. The lady on the phone said “I’m not the shuttle driver so I don’t know where the shuttle is” and hung up on us. In the meantime, every single other person waiting for a shuttle to any other hotel was picked up. Shuttle texted half hour later saying “5 mins away” so we proceeded to wait another 45 minutes before attempting to call the hotel front desk again to try and find out an address or any information. Rude concierge lady simply hung up again without answering any questions. Every time we tried to call back we were immediately hung up on, very scary situation to be 2 young travellers with no where to go in a strange country. After over 2 hours of waiting we finally called an Uber to come pick us up, thank god he was able to figure out where the hotel address was. Shuttle simply never came. When we got to the hotel to check in, they asked what time do you want the shuttle in the morning to get you back for your flight? We said absolutely not, we can’t wait 2 hours and risk missing our flight after what happened tonight. The man at the front desk who appeared to be a hotel manager smirked at us like this was a funny situation and basically said it’s not his fault. Maybe it wasn’t his fault the shuttle never came but we had no one else to get information from, we had nothing to go off of and no one else to call. A little compassion and kindness could go a long way at this hotel. Wish they had name tags on but I guess if you’re treating people that poorly you wouldn’t want people to know your name. I get they were busy with so many displaced people from flights but there is no reason to HANG UP or be blatantly rude to guests staying in your hotel. Worst hotel experience ever. Had to pay tons of money out of pocket for Uber rides to and from the airport just to be greeted by rude staff and get a 2 hour sleep. You’d think if your job is literally customer service you’d know how to give a customer any sort of service or...
Read moreI had a 15 hour layover at O'Hare before I was able to get to Dallas. When I got there, I was so happy just to get to the hotel. Everything went smoothly, being picked up by the shuttle. The first woman who I saw when I checked in was incredibly kind and helpful. She understood that I was tired and even gave me the menu for a delivery place. The room itself was very comfortable, except for being on the first floor with a view of the parking lot, I just kept my blinds closed. The shower wasn't hard to work, but the water pressure almost felt like being blasted by a pressure cleaner. The concerning thing was the water on the floor after the shower. You have to be careful when you put the magnets in place or the shower leaks. The AC kept the room very comfortable. It had no problem keeping cold at night. The breakfast was fantastic. A Texas shaped waffle, and breakfast staples like cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, coffee. On the shuttle ride back to the airport, I got to ride with 8 guys who were going to ATP to take their test to officially become pilots. They were all cool.
On to why it's only 4 stars. The other guests are mostly to blame. A couple who chose to blast their music so loud in the pool area the rest of the hotel could hear and feel it. A bunch of children screaming and giggling and running in the halls at 2am. When my friend came to visit, we were sitting in my hotel room and we could barely hear each other over the music being played by the couple at the pool. My friend walked to the front desk to ask the person there if she could tell them to turn it down, and she had the audacity to roll her eyes at my friend's simple request. Yet, it worked and a few minutes later, we could actually hear ourselves again. The delivery options in the area are plentiful, but if you get in at 11pm, all but one is closed. The only place open at that time was a restaurant that wanted $40 for a chicken Alfredo and 5...
