Immature, disrespect, lairs. When we got to the room it smelled like smoke. There was an ashtray in the room with a no smoking sticker on it. First, the bathtub had pubes all over in it. I call down stairs and am told the cleaning staff has already left and there isn't another room to put me in. I go to the store and get comet to clean out the tub then realize there is no stopper for the tub. I go down to the front desk and ask for a stopper for the tub and am told they don't have one and to stick a towel in the drain. Seriously? So we looked around the room and tried several things to stop up the tub and finally got it mostly stopped up. Next day, we head out, get back to the room and my son's bear that was in his bed is gone, bed made. This bear has been through 6 surgeries with my son so it's a big deal. Go downstairs, the guy looks in the lost and found drawer and says no. I told him it probably was in the sheets and she didn't see it and asked if he could check the laundry room. He states he doesn't have a key to the laundry room and to come back at 9am. I tell him we need to leave by 6am and states there's nothing he can do. I ask him to call his manager to see about getting a key to the room. He states the manager is new and he doesn't have her phone number and doesn't know when she'll be in because she's not on the schedule yet. Really? Next day: 9am. Go down stairs. Charming lady at the front desk with TP stuffed in her nose. She calls for the cleaning staff... "No, no, I no have. I no take". I asked if they could go in the laundry room and look for the bear to which I'm advised they don't have time for. I ask again about the manager and am told again that they don't have her number and they don't know if she's coming in. The girl at the counter puts a note on the managers door with my number asking her to call me. So Wednesday and no call back. I call the hotel and a guy answers. I ask for the manager and he states the manager is busy but he'll take my number. I tell him that I left my number Sunday and have not received a call back regarding out stay. She almost immediately gets on the phone and asks what the bear looks like. I tell her it's a panda bear and she asks what color...I'm like "Umm black and white?" To which she says "You don't know?" I again state "Black and white, it's a panda about the size of your hand." She puts me on hold for about 3 minutes then states she doesn't see it but will look in the laundry room and call me back. 15 minutes later she calls back and says "No bear, sorry". Phone disconnected. So I'm frustrated about the bear and furious about the whole experience. I call customer serviceless back and advise them of everything and ask for compensation. I'm told that only the hotel manager can authorize that and we'll call them. I wait on hold while he calls the manager. He gets back on and says "The manager stated she will not compensate because you had unauthorized visitors in your room". Say what? I said "No I didn't, we were hardly in the room ourselves. Who and how many did we supposedly have in there and when?" He says "I don't know that's just what she said and that's all the info I have. She will not compensate." I ask to speak to a supervisor and am told that if the manager will not compensate there's nothing customer service can do. I ask if she owns Motel 6 and they say "She's the manager." I said "Okay but she doesn't own it. It's your name she's smearing through her actions, it's your name on her sign, it's your company as a whole that has to justify her actions". They state again it's up to the manager. So I call the Hotel 6 back to ask the manager who was supposedly in my room, when, how many. I sure would like to see video of that. Maybe they took the bear, right? So I get the guy on the phone again and tell him I need to speak to the manager. He asks who I am and when I say my name he immediately hangs up. I call back 6 times, all 6 times they pick up the phone and...
Read moreI checked in on Tuesday afternoon, July 18, 2017, with a gentleman named Sherman. I mentioned that I had a small dog with me and Sherman acknowledged that there was no charge for my dog. The room smelled somewhat like disinfectant but was seemingly clean and decent. I had booked for three nights, letting Sherman know that I might need to extend my stay. He said that would not be a problem as long as I let the desk know by Friday at noon. Sherman was very polite and nice and easy to work with.
I am a 69 year old cancer patient who is waiting for his house to be ready who needs a lot of rest. I asked that I not be disturbed and said I did not need housekeeping the next morning.
On Wednesday, at about noon, I was awoken by someone knocking on my door. I did not answer the door. Then the phone rang and it was Shemeane Abdullah, the manager. She started yelling at me that I had a dog in my room, (they could hear the barking), that I didn't inform them about and that I need to immediately come to the front desk to get a copy of the pet rules. I explained that I had told Sherman about my small dog but she continued to argue and insist that I come get a copy of the pet rules right then. I told her I would pick them up later and hung up. I did pick the rules up later that day.
I called the front desk at about 9 AM to ask that I would not be disturbed and I did not need housekeeping. Later that day, at about 12:30 PM, someone started knocking on my door and shouting something. I was in the bathroom and my dog was barking so they couldn't hear me say to hold on. Then the phone started ringing. I didn't get to it in time. So I called the front desk to see what was going on. Shemeane told me that they had an order to check my smoke detector. I told her I was resting and could someone check it later or tomorrow. She said that it had to be checked right then because she had to do it, and was getting ready to go home and wasn't going to wait around. She then told me that if I didn't let them do it right then and there, that she would not extend my stay. Then she slammed the phone down and hung up on me. I walked to the office to try and talk with her but she just yelled and was nasty and said there was no way she would extend my stay. That I was a trouble maker first not telling them about my dog then not letting them have access to my room. I have stayed in countless hotels of all types from modest to luxurious, during my life and have never experienced...
Read moreI haven't stayed in a Motel 6 since...1999 or so? I come to the area a few times a year to visit an elder, so I've been looking for 2 star motels, trying to spend $50 or less a night. I knew I'd miss some of the amenities I've grown used to, like a coffee maker in the room. But since I read the room descriptions, I knew there wouldn't be a coffee maker, fridge - or free WiFi. I was surprised there wasn't a radio alarm clock, though, but I suppose like most everyone these days - I just used my phone to set my alarm. I had the same front desk clerk for 3 nights, Ross. Very nice.
My only issues were - my non-smoking room smelled like smoke. I called the front desk - was I near a smoking room? He said I was 5 rooms away from a smoking room. He offered to move me, but I'd already unpacked and was too lazy to re- and unpack, so I declined that. So he came to my room with an ionizing spray. It helped. But the next 2 nights I came back from being out all day, it still hit me. But I'd get used to it after about 15 minutes or so. Not sure where it was coming from. My only other nitpick was the flat pillows. It was only me, so I stacked them and was somewhat comfortable, but if there were two of us and I had only the one pillow, my head would've been uncomfortable. Bed must've been okay, because I fell asleep easily and stayed asleep.
There was noise, but there wasn't any police activity that I saw (as one reviewer said), nor do I think anything illegal was going on (as another reviewer said). Motels are ALWAYS noisy, because - they're not hotels! I had a room on the backside, away from the freeway. Though - the freeway might create a good "white" noise... The people above me came home each night at midnight, but they just made the usual getting ready for bed noises. Nothing obnoxious. And as far the regular parking lot noises - nothing that got past my ear plugs.
So the front desk staff was very nice, the room was clean, and everything worked (A/C was quiet and efficient, toilet had no issues, shower pressure was good). It is about 20 minutes away from the person I come to see, so I'm still looking for a 2 star motel closer to him, but - I would be fine staying here again if it was significantly cheaper than the other places closer by him. It met my...
