Vicki, the owner operator was great. First she showed us the place, it's perks and details, then-if we were satisfied, it's a trip to the office. And of course we were. In her day, that procedure was the norm; today-it's over the top customer service. So of course, we had no surprises. Great location-right behind the Amana General Store. You can walk to the Ronneburg and the Old Yoke Inn restaurants along with many other stores. It's basically an apartment. Huge living room, a stocked pantry (cereal, english muffins popcorn, etc.), stocked refrigerator (milk, jellies, juice etc.), microwave, toaster...it's not a B&B but you can fix a breakfast with things that are supplied. No sink-there's a covered container for putting your dirty plates, etc. in-she takes these away later. The bedroom is nice, good bed/pillows. Extra blankets in the closets, portable fan-I don't think you'll have any unmet needs. The bathroom is huge. It was very warm-I was afraid of the Iowa winter temperatures-but they were no match for this place. If I had to come up with one non-compliment: we were on the 1st floor-we could hear their renter walking some at night. But it was not loud-it was not a problem for us. It has an amazing history-Vicki filled us in. This place was perfect. Exactly what I was hoping for. But it is for sale, so keep that in mind as you read this review. I hope this place will continue to be a great place to stay for Amana guests in the future, as great as...
Read moreI rented the downstairs place for a weekend getaway with my mother, sister, and two women friends. We were not disappointed; our space was spacious, clean, well appointed, and charming. Bonnie and Brian are new owners who went out of their way to accomondate us. There were 5 of us so I worried about the space. The main 'living room' had plenty of room for everyone to move around even with the qween sleeper sofa pulled out. The bathroom was huge with lots of towels. The kitchen had everything we needed as well. They found a dvd player for us and provided WiFi access.||||The nicest part is the location- one is 25 steps from the main part of Amana which allowed us to come and go as we liked. This is especially nice with a group who may not want to be joined at the hip all the time. We enjoyed the friendly pace with the opportunity to heat up left overs; muffins from home; rather than the steril 'breakfast place' at commercial hotels or forced friendliness of B&B's. ||||Bonnie and Brian showed us the other areas they are fixing up which show much promise and are just as well...
Read moreThis was the third time staying here. As always it was great. We had a larger group so we had 2 units rented. I can’t speak for the rest of the beds but the king bed in unit 2 is absolutely fabulous. And the pillows! Omg! The only issue we had was that there wasn’t enough silverware or any other utensils. Even between the two units. They knew a large group was coming but the kitchens were lacking. No knives and very sparsely stocked kitchen. Otherwise, you can’t beat the location. It is right in Amana. Walking distance...
