Heritage Designs — Local services in Fairfax

I was in last month trying to get fabric that went together needing 21 different pieces and the two ladies there spent quite a bit of time helping me. Never felt I was wasting their time or was never made to feel I needed to hurry up and make a decision. This is not the first time I have needed something to go with a project I was working on and I can assure it won’t be the last as I’m so happy that they are here to help me!! In August 2025, we visited the Heritage Designs at the Amana Colonies in Amana, Iowa. The Heritage Designs has handmade quilts and sewing materials for sale. The Amana Colonies are a collection of 7 Colonies of German Heritage in Central Iowa, and they are not Amish. There are many quaint shops and buildings, and they are all clean and well-maintained. Don't waste your time. I am rating this shop one star because of their beautiful inventory. The two women who worked there (apparently worked there...they were the only two people there when we walked in) didn't even bother to greet us or get up from their lunch to show us around the shop. It's a shame. I could have spent quite a bit of time and money there had they been helpful in the least. I will never purchase anything from shop owners who are so arrogant that they don't even have time for...
