Such potential but hands down the worst dining experience I've ever had. I've never been treated as badly as l was here. Our experience began by visiting next door for the Millstream Brewery and inquiring about food & merchandise. The woman in the place stated that we could eat & drink the beer flights where we'd get a glass included with the flight next door so we came to the Brau Haus. We were sat at 12 at 1225 the server Dawn brought us menus which we couldn't read the wording for the menus because they were rubbed off. Instead of offering to help or get new menus she rolled her eyes. Saying the owner hasnt bought new ones yet. Then it gets worse. We placed our appetizer & drink order then when that came decided to order entrees but mentioned we wouldn't be able to stay that long & the server remarked some snide comment about time... Then l stated we waited 25 mins to even get a drink order in. But it gets worse then l asked if we could pay our tab & have our glasses wrapped up. She looked at me and said we don't do that but l will ask the owner. I was confused and said ok they sent us from next door the brewery here. She literally said what next door I'm like the sister company or the affiliated company. She looked baffled. She came back to us & said the owner has never heard of this & doesn't know what you are talking about.....but IT GETS WORSE. I state that this has been the worst experience & l would like my tab so l can leave please. Then it GETS WORSE the table next to us that KNOWS NOTHING began to talk with our server ABOUT ME !!! seriously???? In front of me? All l asked for was a glass to be wrapped up, help with a menu of beer items that wasn't legible & the glasses their brewery told us came with our flights!!!! This is LITERALLY ALL that took place. Then it gets worse yet again She brings us 2 glasses that the man next to us bought us after she and he TALKED ABOUT ME RIGHT THERE in front of me!!! I told the server 1. I did not believe they were talking about me in front of me 2. That the owner could've called next door cleared up the misunderstanding as l was planning on buying brew merchandise. I could've cared less but my principle it was all so HORRIBLE 3. I told the server l saw heard her conversation about me, l didn't want the glasses from the gentleman as he has 0 idea what's taking place & her ONLY RESPONSE was is there something I've done wrong? Are you kidding me ???? So upset over this horrible service.

Food not bad.... steak fries awesome. The batter is a little hard and thick on cheese curds and fish. But not bad and could be amazing place. Unfortunately it was not the best experience that I've had and it was very unprofessional to deal with. Nice beer selections. Nice atmosphere...pretty fixtures. Just don't bother dealing with resturant go to brewery for merchandise & be prepared to wait up to 25 mins for water.... with only 5 tables inside.

Would've been 5 stars if not for service. What a shame. I'm editing this review to state that l would've given a 1 star but l don't believe in that l still tipped 20% when that wasn't fully deserved. I have a proven track record of good reviews. I am astonished that a neighboring table made assumptions that a server literally talked about me right next to me. I never raised my voice once. Bottom line the server was rude to start letting us struggle to make out blurred words on a drink menu that had us looking like we were just learning to read & eventually just shared 2 menus to make out certain lines. I will not give a 1 star rating to the owner cause they weren't there but allowing patrons & a server to discuss me and laugh at me is wrong. I have to get ready for a wedding and try to enjoy an evening but l still feel like l was treated very poorly & almost ganged up on in a restaurant where I'm a paying and tipping customer that's being polite & gets laughed at with my server and another guest... that was just...

I spent some time in Amana for a wedding. During my trip I stopped by here twice. The beer and food were great! The black bean burger looked amazing, a homemade patty with all the fixings. It did come with really good slightly sweet vinegary potatoes, but they put bacon and cheese on top so the vegetarian who ordered the bean burger couldn't eat it. Their loss, my gain lol, but probably should take that into consideration for the next dedicated vegeheads who would order such a thing at a beer hall. Pretzels and cheese curds were exactly as expected, wings were crispy, and the reuben was fantastic albeit slightly juicy. The reuben egg rolls were also very good, especially if you just want to satisfy that craving without commiting to a whole sandwich.

The staff was friendly and accommodating to our rambunctious group, so were the patrons! Thursday was rainy so we had most of the patio to ourselves, we laughed until we cried and split a few pitchers. Nobody told us to shut up so that was wonderful!

I will say that it is self serve! You need to order from the counter and they'll holler out if you're outside when your order is ready. For our group that was perfect, because we didn't need to Venmo or anything to split the tab, just get what you want with no fuss. I also didn't feel like we were taking up a waiter or waitresses time, we could just relax and hang out for awhile without feeling rushed. Like a beer hall should be!

The second time we went it was a really busy Sunday, staff was working very hard but managed to stay courteous. I've been to breweries around eastern iowa where a lot less pressure makes the crew lash out, these guys are a class act. The food was cooked up and dished out very quickly with consistent quality, so you know the kitchen staff is holding it down as well! Thank you for a wonderful experience, I will...

I have never complained about a restaurant’s food before, or even talked to a manager how bad something had tasted. Last time I was here, I wasn’t impressed by the food. Visited this place last weekend again and ordered a BLT with fries. I took one bite of the BLT and it literally tasted like dirt, no joke. I took one more bite to make sure and I almost threw it back up. Like I said, never have I complained about food before, but I just couldn’t with this food anymore. I told the waitress that I was sorry I had to complain, but my sandwich tasted horrible. She went and got the manager. This came over and asked me what the issue was. I told him my BLT tasted like dirt. He asked if he could take it to the back and try it. I said sure, and he took it away. He came back to our table and announced very loudly that he ate the rest of the sandwich all the way up to where I took 2 bites out of it and that it was the best BLT he had ever had and he saw no issue with it. I stared back at him with no answer to him trying to embarrass me to the table around us that I was being honest that I couldn’t stomach the food. He continued to repeat himself and walked away! I’ve worked in the food industry and he did not handle the situation the correct way at all by saying “I’m so sorry sir, we’ll take that off your bill right away. Is there anything else we can help you with today?”. He just continued to offer me a desert and saying how good the BLT was. I told him I was fine and didn’t want a desert. The waitress then told me that she would get the meal taken off the bill before bringing the check. I left the restaurant hungry and I will not ever be going back to this place again. Management and food...

Millsteam Brau Haus fulfills two purposes: it is a tap room for Millstream Brewing and a full serve restaurant serving German style dishes. But what could you expect since it is located in Amana of the Iowa Amana Colonies. I have had Millstream beer before and found it quite satisfying. This go around it was a Vienna style lager and I was not disappointed. My wife had the vanilla porter and neither of us cared for it. But that's not on Millstream. If you drink beer or wine for that matter, the best beer or wine is the one you like. The food portions for our lunch were huge. If you leave hungry, it's your own fault. I had a pork schnitzel, which from the description sounds like s pork tenderloin. IT IS NOT. So don't expect to get the tenderloin variety. I rounded out my meal with German potato salad. There are as many ways to fix German potato salad as there are German cooks. Never the less, it was quite tasty. My wife opted for an apple, walnut craisin salad with a raspberry apple vinaigrette. Very Good. Despite it being lunch, we were seated immediately, were able order quickly and enjoyed our beer before being served. Overall, it was a great experience and worth another trip.

Beer in a boot, giant pretzels, and good vibes--what more do you need? We stopped by Millstream Brau Haus while visiting the Amana Colonies, and it was easily one of the highlights of the trip. This place gives cozy German beer hall energy but with the chill charm of small-town Iowa. Let's talk drinks: the Farmer's Tan beer was my favorite--light, smooth, and perfect for patio sipping. And yes, I 100% ordered it in a giant glass boot because... how could you not? It's weirdly fun and makes the whole experience feel like a mini Oktoberfest. Food-wise, the pretzel is the move. Giant, warm, soft, and served with a cheese dip I could honestly eat with a spoon. Their burgers also surprised me--really juicy, well-seasoned, and exactly what you want with a beer in hand. We were lucky to visit on a sunny day and sat outside on their patio, which just made everything better. Great people-watching, relaxed atmosphere, and super friendly staff who made us feel right at home. If you're exploring Amana and want a spot that's casual, delicious, and a little bit playful (I mean... beer boots!), Brau Haus is the way to go. Will definitely be back next time we're in town.
