Our stay might have been OK if it weren't for our concerns regarding Covid-19 precautions at the hotel. It still wouldn't have been a 5-star experience, but I certainly won't stay there again until this all calms down.
First, we had trouble finding the office. The guy who checked us in said there used to be a sign, but it had come down when the place was repainted and never put back up. Given the condition of the paint, that might have been quite a while ago.
The guy who checked us in did not mention breakfast. Later, I when I called about the non-functioning air conditioning, I also asked about breakfast. He said there would be a grab and go bag in the morning. There was, and it contained just what he had said it would: a granola bar, a bottle of water, and a banana. Not much of a breakfast, especially for my poor diabetic brother. He did not mention anything about discount coupons to Denny's.
When I called about the air conditioning, the front desk phone rang and rang. Nobody answered it. I tried again and again over the course of an hour before someone finally answered. The guy who came to check out the air conditioning was very nice, and he did wear a mask, although occasionally he slipped it down beneath his nose. It turned out the air conditioning was very old and needed a shot of Freon, which they didn't have on hand. He suggested I ask the desk to give me a different room, but my brother was complaining about his room being too cold, so we just swapped.
When I went down to get breakfast the next morning, the front desk guy was out on the walk, smoking. I saw him doing this a couple of times during our stay, apparently leaving the desk unattended each time. Of course, he wasn't wearing a mask -- he was smoking and chatting with his friends. However, he didn't put one on when he talked with me, either.
The thing that made me the most uncomfortable was the dirtiness of the tables and floor in the room. The table and night stands had visible and palpable marks on them, and when I took a damp tissue and washed them, the tissue came up dark gray. There was dust around the light switch and outlet at the base of the lamp, so we knew that hadn't been cleaned. The light switch in the bathroom had some kind of red ink or paint in all the recesses. And when my husband and I got in the shower, streams of dark water came off the soles of our feet. I would have thought we tracked in the dirt, but it was even at the head of the tub near the wall, where nobody had walked. Our take on the dirty horizontal surfaces was that they either had not been cleaned or had been cleaned with a dirty rag or mop. Not a comforting thought these days.
The swimming pool was closed, but that was understandable.
Some good points: The rooms were smallish, but big enough, the beds were okay, and the staff was nice, once you got their attention. They considerately gave us two rooms right next to each other, even though I hadn't thought to ask. Although the freeway is very close, as long as we had the fan on and the doors and windows shut, we did not notice the sound. There are a couple of restaurants, a drugstore, and a supermarket within easy walking distance. It's easy to get to and from the freeway, and there's a gas station on the way.
If it weren't for the pandemic, I would probably have given them three stars, but I will not give them another try until things get...
Read moreUPDATE; Betty B from 3 months ago, your concerns and complaints that the so called general manager was going to make sure were addressed and resolved by staff and not happen again are still happening. In fact I think this GM should go stay there a weekend or two and see for themselves. I doubt that happens though.
When I used to hear Best Western I used to think that it would be at the very least a good safe, clean and affordable option as far as hotel rooms. We travel a lot on 9/21 we decided, since the Surestay Best Western on North Texas was at least 15 dollars less than the least expensive hotel room in the area, we would give it a try. Well the saying “you get what you pay for” is a bit of an understatement. Having booked through the app and paid for the room before actually going there was the biggest mistake. I was greeted with broken down vehicles, garbage literally everywhere including in the pool & hot tub. All sorts of different characters roaming around in the parking lot watching everything we did. I mean that literally,, there were guys popping out of cars and out of rooms as if we were intruding on someone’s turf. We had luggage that we didn’t want to bring into the gross room and and I twice had to intervene when unhoused guys were peering in our car windows. I ended up with no zero sleep going back and forth between the car and the room. The room was somewhat clean but the bathroom was unbelievably disgusting. It was literally covered in little hairs everywhere. We all decided against showering and tried as hard as we could to not have to use the toilet. I took my girls to the gas station down the road. As night fell like I mentioned I was at times sitting in the car watching the transients approach and then then turn around and or keep going. When the coast was clear I would go check on my family and the things I seen walking from my car to the room…I don’t think it’s appropriate to write about here. To top it off, what really made me sit and write this review is that this MOTEL actually tried to charge me 200 dollars for “damages or incidentals! I refused 200 and the kid at the desk ended up charging 100 to my card. I haven't yet gotten it back so I’m wondering if it is now gone like all cleanliness and decency is gone from that Best Western Motel. DO NOT STAY HERE PEOPLE If you have really stayed there and you are actually claiming that it was clean, safe or otherwise a good place to stay...
Read moreMy experience here was very horrible. My deposit was paid in cash and also I paid for my stay. During the first night the tub was clogged and the toilet was clogged. When I showered the water would not let out the drainer. When interacting with the reception front desk they were unprofessional. I recorded the room and took pictures because I was promised a refund for the interruption. In addition the following day I had to call 911 during the altercation because the two employees specifically the African American man that called me out my name and was yelling and very hostile he was occupinied by a younger girl that was very timmet and scared to work under his authority because of his anger issues and temper. There was also a Latino lady that would not return my funds threating me and playing with my information in her computer also created the dramatic scene and lied when telling her story to the police in addition over charged my debit card with multiple charges. There after I had to get a jump because my battery on my car was tampered with my parked at this facility next door to paradise dental and there was a black Kia and a black...
