ABSOLUTE RIP OFF. Pathetic hotel all around. Did not plan on staying here but was the only option with our cat last minute. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. See photos and our review before you consider booking at this hotel.
The only good thing about the Baymont was they were true to their word about pet friendly - allowing our cat - as compared to the Bison Plaines Lodge we reserved a room with prior to our trip, but they denied us at the door within seconds. We had just finished an 11 hr drive and then that happens?? And the Bison Plaines pet policy had stated 2 pets allowed, no exotics, Pitbulls or Rottweilers / nothing at all mentioning that cats aren’t allowed. (Left our review for Bison Plaines Lodge with photo evidence of their welcome email and pet policy false advertising).
After the Bison Plaines ridiculousness, we scrambled and found the Baymont Wyndham that allowed cats. Came in tired……left feeling MORE exhausted than ever + smelling of cigarettes!!!! The room and whole building is supposedly “non smoking” but smoke was seeping in from the one bathroom vent that was broken and non functional for shower steam. Couldnt open the window. All we could do was shut the bathroom door to try stop the stink. Barely helped.
In addition to the smoke, the toilet bowl ran all night every 30 seconds keeping us awake. My husband was smart and ended up turning the water off after trying to fall asleep for an hour. Fix the toilet float!!! They’re $15 at a hardware store. Simple fix. Your water bill will be better too once you fix that constant running water (basic home owner knowledge and common sense).
The worst was after the smoky shower, you walk out onto the greasiest floor. We literally had to sacrifice our socks or walk around with towels under our feet (towels were complete garbage btw - a thin, very rough “exfoliating” towel rather than what you’d expect - something somewhat absorbent!!). I flipped the towel over at the end of our 1 night stay and it was disgusting. Didn’t want to touch it too much….See photo.
The other horrible aspect is after our showers, we crawled into a bed that had brown stains all over the sheets. Just gross. See the one close up photo I took by the coffee bag… there were so many but with the poor lighting it was hard to get them to not look like shadows.
There was no sign of maid service. Normally you see at least one or two carts. Garbage / backpacks in the hallways. And a busted hot tub (we were really hoping for a tub after the long drive).
When we checked in the night before, it was a good front desk clerk. He was honest and said the food sucks here and to go somewhere else when we inquired. When we checked out, it was a different clerk who acted and dressed so unprofessional and also was passed out asleep on the couch 3 times we walked by. Didn’t know if it was an employee or some random dude. Definitely told him about our terrible night stay and he said no one has ever complained to him before. Right…. No discount was given for the horrible accommodation. We were DEFINITELY overcharged - $85 usd - it was absolute trash and should be $40 or less!!! If I could leave a fart as a review - that really stunk - that would...
Read moreMy family and I stayed at Baymont during winter. We were extreamly disappointed in what we endured at this hotel. This hotel should not be rated 2 stars, instead 1 star max.
Walking through the halls you can see the building has had long term water damage. The ceilings and walls leaked when it snowed. The ceiling tiles were stained yellow and had visible mold growth. I have had extensive experience with mold and this mold appeared to be Stachybotrys which is toxic to guest. The nearby hospitals means that I'll guests with low immune systems could stay at this hotel. Stachybotrys can kill, especially I'll people. Stachybotrys can be confirmed with culture sampling. Also present in our room was mold in the HVAC system, and on the vents. There was no ventilation in the bathroom which fed the mold growth. The walls and ceilings in the room were cracking, leaking or covered in paint that had bubbled due to the moisture trapped under the paint. When we brought up concerns about the visible mold and water leaking through the ceilings, we were told that the owner has known about this issue for a long time, the employees have brought up their concerns and the owner refuses to address the problem.
Aside from these health hazards, one of our beds had a massive yellow stain that soaked from the mattress topper, through the mattress, bed skirt and box spring. Aside from being gross, this showed us that the mattress topper is not changed often. There was trash packed behind the mini fridge covered in dust. The TV had issues and didnt work right. The coffee pot was covered in white lint which makes us think it was wiped down with a white cloth and not washed/sanitized in a kitchen. The housekeeper Kristen, was unprofessional beyond belief. At the front desk she was loading saying profanities about another woman, during her daily cleaning she blasted music down the hallways. We did tell her that it bothered us and the next day we did not hear music.
The pool and hot tub were both dirty with piles of dirt being pushed around at the bottom of the pools. The walls, ceiling and window frames had visible water damage, staining and mold. This hotel is just asking for someone to sue them for health hazards.
After bringing up our concerns about the yellow stain on the bed we were offered clean linen and compensation for a drink or pizza which we declined. We were then offered a new room that was recently renovated on the south side. The room was a significant improvement but you could still tell that there was water damage in the ceiling that had been covered up. The paint in the new room was cracking and falling but there was no presence of visible mold.
On a Friday night the hotel had a band that played its base so loud that the walls shook and the hallway lights trembled and flickered.
The complimentary breakfast was picked clean after 2 hours and food items were not restocked for the 2 hour remainder of breakfast.
At least the price was relatively cheap around $60, the carpets looked clean and there were...
Read moreBuckle up. The owners have to know this is a dumpster fire of a hotel, right? Like, they can’t think things are going well?
Anyway…I was struggling to find a hotel in Fargo the Friday before Christmas, late at night, with a dog. The Wyndham Wizard guided me here, and importantly did not show any reviews beforehand.
Check in was fine. Got my room keys. I asked where I should let my dog pee, and he said kind of wherever. Also it would be super nice if you picked up the #2s, but a lot of people don’t. Awesome. I made my way to the room.
Red Flag #1 - my keys - both of them - did not appear to work, but when I pushed on the door it just opened. Cool cool. Deadbolt and little flippy thing worked from the inside so that’s great, at least. Thought about driving away and sleeping in my car, but whatever. I just needed a few hours of sleep. Spoiler - I do not get to sleep tonight.
In the room, all of the furniture was broken. Handles were falling off of drawers that wouldn’t open. Support rails for the shower in the bathroom were cracked and laying in the tub. The chair was missing part of a leg. The mini fridge sounded like it contained a whole leaf blower. At some point in the night it stopped making the leaf blower sounds by clicking off with a noise that sounded like a gunshot. The heat/ac unit was on, but was broken in such a way I couldn’t adjust it. It was set to 54 degrees. A cold night was had by all.
My room wasn’t visibly dirty, but was extremely run down and worn looking. Mystifyingly, despite this being a 2-Queen room, there was exactly one towel and one pillow total. I called the front desk to inquire about another? No answer. Tried again. No answer.
In the night, the hotel was very, very loud. People appeared to still be up and having loud public conversations outside well after midnight. Shady characters smoking cigarettes outside my room until 3am, discussing where to purchase drugs at this time of night. What appeared to be a domestic disturbance occurred on the second floor at about 2:30. It was a lot. I couldn’t really leave to even go sleep in my car at a rest area at this point due to the dudes outside my room. Slept a total of two hours.
Packed up and left my room at 6:30am. I walked into the lobby. Shady lads gone! There did not appear to be a front desk worker, but there was a man sleeping on a couch. I put my envelope of keys on the counter and went to leave when the guy woke up. He was the front desk clerk! He asked if I needed a receipt. He did not get up from the couch. He said something about needing to go start on breakfast. He still did not get off the couch. Part of me was so curious what kind of train wreck awaited at the continental breakfast, but I could not take more of this.
I cannot recommend staying literally anywhere else strongly enough. I am kicking myself for not cutting my losses and walking out when I had the chance, especially as a solo woman....
