This hotel receives a 1 star not because of the hotel, but because of its manager and the service I received from her. Remove Sabrina as manager. I stayed at this hotel on 12/26. After getting to the room, I noticed that the toilet wasn't flushing. I removed the tank lid and noticed that the plastic strip that connects the flapper to the handle was broken. I reported it and was asked if I wanted to change rooms. Since we had already brought everything up, I just asked for it to be repaired. The clerk at the front desk in the afternoon told me that maintenance was at another location but would be up to fix it when they arrived. Then around 5:30, power went completely out, including generators. It was off for 2.5 hours. We were on the 3rd floor and with a daughter with mobility issues, we could not get down the stairs to change hotels, so we stayed. After the power came back on and after eating in the dark, I asked about the toilet and was told that maintenance was gone for the day and the new clerk at the desk had no idea it needed repair. I continued to flush the toilet by lifting up the flapper.
The next morning, we checked out (the 27th). We were invited to enjoy breakfast, and I said no. But I also requested that we receive a discount for the inconvenience of both the power outage and the toilet. I was told the power outage wasn't their fault. It wasn't mine either. But the manager agreed, via phone, to have the clerk give me a $20 credit. The room was $117.71 total. He applied a $20 credit, bringing it down to $97.71. I gave the clerk a $50 Best Western Rewards Travel Card. He had to call and find out how to apply it to the bill. After a half hour of waiting to check out, he said he took care of it and then handed me back the card. That brought my balance down, rightfully, to $47.71. I figured he had taken the credit off the rewards card and when I reached my destination, I tossed it out.
I get home a week later to find that not only did they charge my credit card the $47.71 (as it should have been), but the next day, the 28th, they put through an additional charge on my card for $100. I was furious.
On 1/10/2018, after noticing the discrepancy in my account, I called the manager, Sabrina. She told me that the front desk clerk had given me too much credit and that because I walked off with the rewards card, she charged me. I told her that the clerk gave it back to me and asked her how that was my fault? I also made her aware that she charged me $100 for a $50 gift card. Not once did she call me to report the discrepancy and had it been an adjustment, the charge of $47.71 should have been adjusted. Had she called me when I still had the card, I could have given her the number over the phone so she could bill the rewards card. As it stood, I paid $147.71 for a $97.71 room. When I told her that I would be filing a dispute, she responded "you do what you feel you have to do, I did what I had to do" and hung up on me.
I immediately called corporate customer service and filed a dispute with my bank. Never again will I stay here or at any other Best Western. It's bad enough to have a $100 mistake bite you in the ass, but when the manager reacts as a B with the ITCH, I draw the line and call it crappy customer service.
*On January 24, 2018, I received a refund from BW Floodwood. Manager claimed she had called me on January 10, but that wasn't true. I will give this hotel 4 stars because it is a nice hotel, but this incident shouldn't have happened, nor should I have had to call corporate, nor should it have...
Read moreThe Best Western Plus Flowood Inn & Suites is a great hotel. We stayed on March 7, 2017 and truly enjoyed the whole experience of the hotel. The hotel appears to have been recently renovated, and it is very nice and modern decoration. The front desk staff was very courteous and knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make our stay the best experience ever! There is an elevator in the hotel so guests don't have to carry luggage up the stairs. We booked a suite with a jetted tub. Our room was awesome, complete with the jetted tub, body jets for the shower, and modern fixtures. The bed was even more comfortable than my bed at home (that says a LOT). Inside our room was a large TV, a small dining table, a sofa bed, a coffee table, a work desk with a coffee maker and everything needed to make the perfect cup of coffee. Towels were plentiful and very large and comfortable. There was also a hairdryer in the bathroom, and an iron and ironing board in the closet. There were extra pillows and blankets and even more offered if we had needed them. The air/heat in the room were working properly and the thermostat made it easy to be comfortable in the room. Toiletries were provided and there were even more located in the sundry, along with snacks and drinks. Breakfast was amazing (pancakes, biscuits, sausage, bacon, eggs, toast, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, and hot coffee), and the breakfast staff was very helpful and courteous. Check-out was a breeze and took less than one minute. I have never stayed at Best Western before, but this has just became my GO-TO hotel. I will be sure to stay with Best Western during all future trips. If you're in doubt, book this hotel. There is a convenience store right across the street and many restaurants close by. It is in the perfect, quiet, SAFE location, but close enough to the city to make it convenient. You won't regret your stay at Best Western Plus Flowood...
