UPDATE:
"We also recognize that you’ve posted several reviews regarding the same stay,.... we want to reassure future guests that these issues have been acknowledged and handled by our management team."
I have only posted this one (1) review. You keep accusing me of posting multiple reviews. Our friends who also had a bad experience posted their own review about their bad experience.
People count on honest reviews about experiences others have had and that is the purpose for this option on Google Maps.
You would have to replace beds and pillows, not use perfumed products in rooms and find a way to quiet the AC units in order to assure future guests of a good night's rest and make sure rooms are ready when they check in after 3:00 pm.
We booked through Hotels.com 4 months ago and paid in advance. When we got there, hotel staff could not find my reservation but I had proof of it on my phone. Our confirmation and receipt states one of our first and last names. They had me pay again and it cost me an extra $30 plus $10 for 'incidentals', so $208 ($375 total) for a standard, basic hotel room with a bed so uncomfortable and noise so loud we got no sleep.
Today, we received a call from someone at the hotel upset about our review. She said they found the reservation under the same name on my google account that appears above. She also accused me of writing 5 bad reviews. This is the only place I post reviews. The hotel and Hotels.com asked us to review and we responded to those but those are internal.
Hotels.com could have booked it that way but it was not what we filled in on our booking request and it was not anywhere on our confirmation or our receipt from Hotels.com.
The hotel credited us for the second, larger payment for the room.
I don't know if it is their fault or Hotels.com. This experience has taught us not to trust using a third party to book our hotels again.
The star rating has more to do with the room itself than the mistake with our booking.
The rooms have gigantic AC units in the walls that are extremely loud. It woke us up every single time it cycled on and off all night. I was not rested at all. We even raised the temp and were too hot just trying to make it cycle less but it was still hot and humid outside.
For noise reference, I am 85% deaf in one ear and without my hearing aide, it was still very loud.
They give you 4 plush-looking pillows but they flatten when you lay on them so you have to use two and one keeps sliding out.
The bed is hard as pavement so they have mattress toppers on them. The mattress topper however, felt warn out and lumpy. I woke with neck and back pain.
While it appeared clean, it smelled like someone sprayed a flowery-powdery perfume throughout the room. I have allergies and asthma. This caused me to be uncomfortable and wake with a headache and irritated airways.
I wish businesses would stop perfuming everything for the sake of people with allergies and asthma and other high risk...
Read moreReally a great hotel that I would likely stay at again. It appears either recently renovated and built, with a very modern feel. I stayed in a standard room with two beds. Location is solid - not far from both grocery stores in town. Many things - including Kwik Trip and some fast food - all within walking distance.
Some positive observations: -While breakfast is limited due to COVID-19, they were still one of the few hotels I've seen offering hot breakfast during this time - all while adhering to CDC guidelines. -One of the few hotels I've seen that offers trash AND recycling in each room. -Very clean and well maintained. -ALL staff were extremely polite and flexible - especially the staff serving breakfast! -Both blackout curtains AND a translucent curtain - very much appreciated! -Housekeeping is very flexible with room maintenance - they will pass your room if you have a "do not disturb" sign up and will leave a note saying they passed your room for that reason.
Some really picky downsides: -Mattresses seemed a bit on the stiff side - probably great for back sleepers, but not as ideal for side and stomach sleepers. I ended up with a very stiff back after multiple nights of side sleeping. Pillows also go pretty flat. -The fridge keeps things almost TOO cold - salads freeze easily, and there is no adjustment that is easily found. -Door to the room has a noticable gap underneath and isn't flush with the floor. -The AC and heating unit continuously runs. You can turn off the AC and heat, but not the fan. -Smoke/fire detector indicator light has a super bright blink. -Light switch arrangement is initially a little confusing - there are 3 switches. 1 is a master control for the other 2. -Sink plug control is BEHIND the faucet - it took me a couple days to figure that out! -Wi-Fi was pretty spotty and could sometimes be slow at peak times. It would kick my devices pretty regularly, requiring me to disconnect, reconnect, and click the log in button again. This happened even when the device was...
Read moreWe had to stay two nights because of my mother's funeral. When I called at the beginning of the week, I believe I mentioned the funeral because I originally wanted to block rooms for relatives. We were told we could not do that on such short notice. We were also told that they had very few rooms left, so we had to book only a King Suite at around $234 per night. After I checked out on Sunday, my sister-in-law told me that she got a reduced rate for bereavement, which we were never told. I called that very afternoon--just a few hours after I checked out. The woman at the front desk told me she was unable to adjust and I needed to talk to a manager. I called back on Monday but had to call again on Tuesday. When I finally talked to Jaysha the manager, she said she adjusted the rate but was not very pleasant in her interaction with me. She seemed really put out by my call and stated, "We normally do not adjust the price after the fact" even though I had already explained that I called on Sunday right after check-out when I found out. I find it questionable business practice that you do not let your customers know that you offer bereavement discounts. Had I not been told by my relative, I would have paid over $500 for overpriced rooms due to unavoidable last minute booking. The front desk worker even told me that they do not tell customers about it unless they ask. How about at least mentioning it on your website? Is it listed somewhere, and I didn't see it? My family comes to town every August for our family reunion, and because of Jaysha's attitude, I may change our reservations to another hotel, and we usually have over 15-20 rooms booked. Really disappointing during this difficult time of my...
