Catching up on helpful Google reviews from previous stays. I usually place reviews on Campendium for RV parks. ---------------- $58/night Stayed 7 nights Site #141 Stayed beginning of Nov 2021. Catching up on reviews. Site type: Back-in FHU 50 AMP Would stay again, if we had to be close to Charlotte. Campground WiFi: -Unable to connect. Cell/hotspot using booster: -AT&T (3 of 4 bars—4G) -Verizon (2 of 4 bars—4G) THE GOOD Site: Gravel sites with grass living areas. Pretty good space between sites (backed up a bit close to other though). Grounds: Clean. Staff: Very nice people. Pet area: Nice grass spot to walk pups. Local: Lots of things to do and gas/groceries/food minutes away. THE BAD: Sites: The back of sites kind of overlap so when people might be camping, it sounds like they are camping in your living space, which is kind of strange when in your own rig. Noise: The campground shares a fence with a neighborhood and the neighborhood oddly had fireworks for just over an hour each night during our 7-day stay. It was Nov, so I can not understand why there were fireworks in the neighborhood. Maybe this was a one-time occurrence, but worth noting. WORTH NOTING—NOT GOOD OR BAD: Noise: Carowinds, the local amusement park, has their own fireworks every night but only for 10 min at a time. The neighborhood fireworks were unrelated.

Worst KOA I've been to. Check in staff super nice, booking easy, adding an extra night was easy. But it is rather small, one bathroom/bathouse was closed, so only. The bathroom by the pool was nasty (picture or urinal below). Even my kids said it was dirty. No fire rings or grills at the campsites...might be my fault for missing that but it seems standard to me to have them. It put a dent in some of our fun. Most people just set a fire on the ground. The pool had no umbrellas or shade and it was extremely hot, other people noted the same issue. The store is just a gas station. We are used to a neater camp store with only camping traffic. No kids activities. Small playground and a putt putt course that's way too easy. My kids didn't even want to play it. No shade at those either. Plus side was nice check in staff, clean bathhouse, we had a decent pull through site.another plus is there's a grocery store, Publix, right above the campground. We were allowed to have our pets and travel pet fence. There's a fenced in pet area and an open pet area too. Fenced area not shaded, open area shaded. Cherokee NC and Pigeon forge have amazing KOAs.

Very easy check-in after hours! Our map was waiting for us that led us directly to our campsite. We were situated conveniently between two very clean bathhouses where we could chose if we were taking the dogs to the fenced in dog park or taking our kid to the playground as to which one we'd stop at on the way! Highly recommend this KOA with its close proximity to Carowinds and Charlotte queen city! 8/1/2024 update- We came in after hours and the staff called ahead of time to let us know where our information would be. This was our 3rd time coming to this KOA so we pretty much knew what to expect and where to go. We had a major issue with our camper with the roof vent completely blowing off in a torrential downpour. Allen, the KOA maintenance guy was absolutely amazing lending me a tall ladder and the tools we needed to get a new roof vent installed. He definitely helped turn a bad situation into a great visit!

Update: a year later: Still a decent park, how they advertise for wifi, the wifi , we were told was down and they were working on it, this is really a huge inconvenience, but husband works on the road and needs wifi, we had to use our truck wifi. That is disappointing. It seem they don’t use the one site for two, much if any.. that is a plus. The staff seems super nice. If you do receive Amazon or any packages they can be either at the office or the Exxon next store. That is no big deal but FYI. We were under trees this time, and the squirrels are friendly maybe too friendly, they seem to want food. We do not feed, to discourage them from coming around. Nothing else seemed to change

definitely have to give this KOA 5 stars. There are pros and cons as there is to every campground/RV park. Over all- it is a excellent park!! We would stay again. They seemed to have taken the bigger sites and made two from them to be able to get additional campers in. This is great but does make things rather cramped when they fill up. Especially if a camper has slides, you might be able to holds hands out your window lol 😂. The sites are not all level so definitely have some legos with ya to level up. Some sites are gravel, some concrete. We were here for about 6 days and we have no complaints. The staff are super nice helpful and friendly. Everyone waves and smiles. Their dog park seems to be clean and smell enough to be comfortable. They provide pet stations with bag to pick up after your pets! This needs to be exercised!! Few don’t and that is frustrating. It is close to Publix which does deliver and Walmart who also deliver. Right now the street there is a shopping center that has every store I think you would need. Bo joke on that!! They have laundry facilities (we didn’t a chance to use) propane refill and trash pick up. Free wifi and Verizon seemed to be pretty decent. Great place and...

Upon entering the office my daughter and I felt racially profiled. The women asked how can I help you I asked about a cabin rental she said unfortunately I don’t have any available I in return says according to the website you do she then says well I have one shrugs her shoulders and says and it’s 900$ the week. I said okay thank you. We went to the car feeling violated in ways. I then went on the website and booked a 13 day stay with a full bathroom we continued back in to give the reservation stood online 2 folks ahead of us now we are listening to her give assistance to these folks respectfully telling them about the rules and the bathroom laundry facilities ect. We continue and she says hi I said I have a reservation she said ohh in shock she continues to assist us she said 13 days isn’t allowed I said well it’s booked not my fault web service is wrong. She hands out key and says enjoy your stay. Well 6 days into the stay we have no water no NOTICE nothing informing us. She even booked a man into the cabin next to us not telling him of the water situation he came over to ask us and boy was he furious. It’s now 3 days no hot water no notice of any form . Other than that the cabin is clean and it’s very cold regardless of the heater being on high. I wouldn’t recommend people of color to come here. I do feel this is going to be a civil matter if I’m not reimbursed the difference in my cabin I paid for service I’m not receiving. Think Twice about this place. Hotel next exit over. FYI I’m caucasian. And my daughter...

I have a 27 ft Coachman Catalina & was headed from SC to Utah in the beginning of 2020 until Covid pandemic unsettled travel plans. I settled in to KOA Journey Ft. Mill. This KOA is nestled in Behind a Publix Supermarket and shares a property with John's Place which has a full time food truck, Bar, gas station & convenience store and ABC store. The campground has amenities such as a full size swimming pool, mini golf, children's full size playground, large gas grill family picnic pavilion, bathhouses, bascketball goals, video arcade, coin operated laundromat, wildness areas and walking trails & frisbee disk golf practice goals. There is daily RV and travel trailer sites, cabin rentals and tent camping sites along with monthly long term sites for seasonal travelers and temporary career travelers. There is a full time staff in grounds at all time with an on site office. It is a secure well lit campground with security and code surveillance. Pets are welcome and encouraged as they have 2 dog walking parks one which is fenced in. For convenience there is a propane station, garbage pick up, RV waste dumping & sanitation station, green boxes and a propane filling station. On the Same property is Traceys RV & Travel Trailer Parts and Service. They repair, service & sell RVs and camper trailers on site. I have been her all summer and fall and thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and give Journey KOA 5 stars and will always come back again and again and consider this KOA my home...
