I dont even know where to begin. My family lost everything in Hurricane Milton and choosing to stay at the Colonial location was the worst decision I ever made. It was very dirty, nasty, and had a horrible odor throughout the whole hotel. When I arrived i was told that if I wanted to change out my sheets daily it would be ok. Due to my sons medical condition i constantly have to make sure everything is clean and sanitized. Next thing i know they are wanting to charge me $14 extra a week for the laundry, oh wait it gets better lol, then i was told that i can only exchange my linens once every 14 days. I dont know who sleeps on the same sheets for 14 days but that is disgusting. The staff was beyond rude and the night clerk you can never find, she seems to just want to hang out outside with her dogs while people are waiting to check in. She threw linens at me while proceeding to get in the elevator telling me my sons medical condition is not her problem..... classy right. The floors were black, the cabinets were moldy and the room smelled like 100 year old cigarettes. Do not let me forget about all of the cockroaches they have running out of the walls and every cabinet. After about 3 weeks I couldnt take it there anymore. So i called the corporate office to see what rooms they have available at their other location. I booked the room and then about 10 mins later they called and told me I would not be able to come until Wednesday because that is when the manager will be there and she is the only one who can check in fema. So its Christmas and I packed up my family and headed to the other location. When I arrive i was told that i was unable to check in until the following day because that will be when the manager is in... now keep in mind they told me the complete opposite. By this time it is late in the day and it is Christmas so all i wanted to do was get my family in a room so we can spend Christmas in some kind of peace. After about 5 minutes of the woman behind the counter told me her manager would not let me check in until 12pm the day. I asked where i was supposed to go seeing as i had already booked with them, and fema only pays certain hotels. I broke down in tears because that day could not get any worse. I called every single hotel, and no one had open rooms for fema survivors. In the meantime, i had called the corporate office to see if they can just let me and my children stay in the room i had reserved and when the manager was there the next day she could check me in, or did they have another location they could send me to. It was none of the above. The gentleman on the phone was rude and told me that if the manager wouldn't check me in there was nothing he could do. It was Christmas, we were homeless and now we had no place to go but sleep in my car. How could there not be a solution to this. They not only refused to let me stay even though i had a reservation, but the had cancelled my 1st reservation and moved it to Wednesday and that would be when she worked. It was all LIES LIES LIES. We had to sleep in my car on Christmas, and Santa had to deliver my children's gifts inside my car. There are no words to explain how my children felt. So please make sure to think long and hard before you even consider staying at any of the locations, but Colonial...
Read moreWe unfortunately had to stay at this location for 2 months while waiting for our home. Initially, we thought it was within our budget, especially since it had a kitchen. However, we had a number of issues with our stay.
Firstly, upon check-in, we were disappointed to find that the room was filthy. The strong smell of cheap disinfectant lingered throughout, giving me a constant headache during my entire stay. It's puzzling how such a strong smell persisted when nothing seemed to be cleaned properly.
Moreover, none of the sinks in the three rooms we were moved to ever drained properly. We even had to flip a breaker in order to use the stove top in the small kitchen area. The bathtub took an hour to drain as well. Despite making multiple complaints, maintenance never addressed these issues. We eventually had to purchase our own plunger since going to the front desk became a hassle and no action was taken.
Additionally, the walls were paper thin, making it impossible to have a peaceful night's sleep. We could hear people arguing and fighting loudly every single night. It became so unbearable that I stopped leaving my room at night. Furthermore, there were drug dealers and random people loitering outside the hotel at all hours, creating a loud and unsettling atmosphere.
The front desk was also a disappointment. There was rarely ever a staff member present, with a note claiming they would return in 10 minutes. It seemed that most of the staff actually lived at the hotel and would go to their rooms and possibly take naps. This happened almost every time I went to the office.
After enduring two months of living in a dirty, loud, and unpleasant environment, we reached our breaking point. On one particular morning, my husband and I had a minor argument due to the stress of our situation. Almost immediately after, Kristen knocked on our door and informed us that we were being kicked out because she heard us fighting. It was frustrating to be singled out when it was clear that a significant portion of the guests were also involved in nightly disturbances.
We attempted to resolve the situation with Wendy, the manager, and asked her to reconsider and allow us to continue our stay. However, she refused, but promised to refund us for the three nights we were owed since we were forced to leave early. It has now been three weeks, and we have yet to receive any refund. Wendy refuses to take our calls, leaving us feeling frustrated and cheated.
Not only were we abruptly kicked out with only an hour to pack, but we also had to leave behind the groceries we had purchased the previous day, totaling $200. Many other belongings were also left behind due to the limited time we were given. It's disheartening to think that the staff may have taken advantage of these items.
In conclusion, I strongly advise against staying at this terrible motel. Unless you want to experience robbery or assault at night and be treated poorly by the staff, it's best to avoid this place. Wendy, if you happen to read this, I expect the refund you promised and hope you fulfill...
Read moreHonestly, if I could give them zero stars, I would they don’t deserve nothing, not even one. This is the worst hotel in the nation, the service in general is really bad. The people at the front desk are very mean, disrespectful, and bipolar. There’s an employee named Kristin, her partner is so rude and aggressive, he almost ran me over with his laundry cart, he thinks he runs the place and he doesn’t even work there. Every-time we would ask for toilet paper they would only give us one roll for four people Also, every time you go down to the front desk there is either no one their at all or their out smoking or doing something, besides their job, or they have nothing or they make you come back at three or later, or really, when they want to attend you. The sheets and towels they give you aren’t even cleaned well, they give you sheets covered in weird stains, like spilt food, coffee, blood and other weird substances. Their towels covered in pubic hairs, smell and look dirty. Not once did they ask to clean our room. They don’t receive your towels, they wanted us to wash them and the sheets when that’s their job. Sometimes, they are fixing something so you won’t have water or it will come out yellow. This hotel was a mess, the hallways, stairs disgusting covered in spilt trash, and the rooms smelt like weed, cigarettes and burnt food. The rooms have mold and mildew on the walls and corners. They say that you’re not allowed to smoke in your rooms but, every time someone new came, it smelt like they were doing drugs. At night, you hear people slamming doors, stomping upstairs, yelling, little kids running down the hall at like 5am screaming. We were scared because one time there was a couple three doors down from where we’re staying and they were yelling and throwing things, sadly they had a baby it sounded like he was hurting her, because she was crying and so was the baby. You go out poop everywhere, the dog park has so much poop that where ever you step you get some on you. There is also poop on other parts of the premise. There prices fluctuate they go up and sometimes like every so often they go down. It’s also not a safe place because you see all kinds of weird people like individuals who look like they just got out of prison, junkies, drug dealers, sometimes, people selling drugs, and or drinking in the parking lot. People drive in crazy at full speed, without looking but really, just not having a care in the world, on rather or not they can run you over. Overall, a terrible experience wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, please avoid this place at all costs it not worth...
