I can’t say I was overly impressed with my recent visit to the Golden Corral restaurant. There were several issues that made the dining experience less than enjoyable.
Let’s start with the steaks. I’d heard mixed reviews about their food, but I wanted to give their steaks a try. To put it bluntly, they were dreadful. The steaks were overcooked and tough, resembling something more akin to shoe leather than a decent meal. It was clear that quality had taken a backseat in the kitchen that day, and I was left sorely disappointed.
The overall quality of the food was also disappointing. The buffet-style setup meant that some items were sitting out for extended periods, resulting in lukewarm, unappetizing dishes. The salad bar looked wilted, and the hot food stations seemed to lack freshness and flavor. It was a far cry from the tasty and well-prepared meals I had hoped for.
But it didn’t stop there. The carpets in the restaurant were in a deplorable state. From the entrance to the exit, they were soaked and filthy, making it uncomfortable to walk around. It gave off an air of neglect and disregard for cleanliness that was incredibly off-putting. It made me wonder what the state of the kitchen might be if they were letting the dining area get this dirty.
The people serving the meat were another disappointment. They seemed disinterested and lacked any enthusiasm for their job. It felt like they were just going through the motions, and it didn’t inspire confidence in the food they were serving.
And to top it all off, there were wet dishes that were supposed to be dry. This lack of attention to detail was just another indicator of the overall lackluster experience.
On a positive note, our server was friendly and attentive. They tried their best to make our dining experience enjoyable, but they could only do so much given the subpar food and the overall condition of the restaurant.
Lastly, the excessive use of sugar in some of the dishes was overwhelming. It seemed like every dessert and even some savory items were loaded with sugar. It left my taste buds overwhelmed and craving something more balanced and savory.
All in all, dining at Golden Corral was one of the worst decisions I made that Sunday. The bad steaks, poor food quality, filthy carpet, lackluster service from the meat servers, wet dishes that should have been dry, and the excessive sugar content in the food all combined to create an experience I won’t be repeating. I won’t be coming back to this establishment anytime soon, and I would advise others to think twice before dining here if they’re looking for a quality meal and a clean dining...
Read moreReVisited: A+ Went back with family after a month. Indeed a significant change from our previous visit, day and night. My previous post is below. This visit was thumbs up, main courses were available and organized, staff was more coordinated and I was pleased witnessing them communicating to each other. The Steak was not tough, served medium rare or medium, all of the courses were well prepared. The only thing that needs improvement are yeast rolls, most of them were quite hard but it's a small nothing issue compared to previous visit. Location definitely has changed and I hope others give it another chance. We were lucky to have server Pat, she is quite a delight who is attentive, hard-working, and efficient. Good food, good teamwork!
Previous: Visited with family during dinner service, it all went awry from the start. We had difficulty finding good seating due to available tables were not clean and had leftover dishes. Once we found a table, server adviced us someone else was using table however we saw no such receipt on table indicating it was occupied, yet we moved anyway. As for food, it was dissapointing and we had none. The main dishes: prime rib, pizza, chicken, steak, roast beef, ham were not available, when asking staff on waiting time they had no answer and were passing the buck on whoever was working in the kitchen. Whatever was left of sides were dry, disorganized: certain pans were out of their assigned slots, instead some set aside, I witnessed 2 pans of wings piled on top of each other and not in their assigned slot. Unfortunately heard other customers complaining of lack of food. All customer service went wrong, and we requested a refund. We spoke to manager whom stated they were not prepared for the amount of people who visited. Started out with the girl spilling one of our drinks at the register, which isnt a big deal until the rest of the experience is so absolutely mediocre or down right bad. The guys grilling, cutting and serving the meats were untrained and rude. One of them didnt know the difference between a dry completely white in the middle piece of steak and medium rare then he tried to give me an almost raw piece instead. He was also rationing the portions like a warden, which completely defeats the purpose of a buffet like this. Both men had trouble cutting the meats.. Specifically the ribs. It was as if they really had no idea what they were doing. The steak didnt have a great flavor and certainly wasnt sirloin quality. Many of the options were empty and didnt get refilled while we were there (almost an hour.) There were not any fresh fruit options with the salad bar. There were only 3 fresh strawberries at the dessert table and they didnt get refilled at all. The cotton candy was gone. The chocolate soft serve was running out. The whipped cream was stiff and stuck to the bowl it was in. They were dismantling the chocolate fountain and it was almost 2 hours before closing time. The waiter did not offer to refill our drinks even once. All in all it was definitely not worth the price, which was $4 or so more than the price listed. I was terribly disappointed.
