My wife and I left Boise with storms throughout the northwest. We did not know how far we'd get due to snow. As we approached Vernal, We looked on line for hotels. We found this hotel listed on google for under $80.00. When we got to the desk and asked for a room, we were told the price would be $109.00 +tax. I showed the person at the front desk the price on my phone and all I got in return was "this is the price today". Tired and grumpy I begrudgingly accepted it as we were only going to be there one night. The room seemed nice but there was no toilet paper. My wife called down and the person at the front desk said that she would have go up to the third floor to retrieve some and then continued on that we would have to come down to the front desk and get it. Our room was on the third floor... When we went down to get it the lady asked how many rolls we needed. 1,2 or 3? puzzled, my wife said one would suffice. Breakfast was bland to say the least. Greasy sausage cold eggs and stale muffins. Upon our departure, I asked to speak with the manager about what we were charged. He told me that the prices on the internet and those who chose to just walk in with no reservation had different prices. I told him that it was ridiculous to charge walk in customers 30% more and is highway robbery. He began speaking , with his heavy foreign (India I presume) accent and wouldn't stop talking long enough for me to get a word in edgewise to where I could only understand half of what he said. Comfort Inns should fire everyone who works there and start anew! I received a generic reply to my survey from the manager that had zero accountability to which I replied...||You are missing the point Sai. (assuming you are the one to whom I spoke with upon my departure) You are guilty of bait and switch tactics. But that now doesnât surprise me after reading the other reviews for this hotel. Total disregard for the customers, rude employees, ignored requests, cleanliness issues galore. I have never seen so many 1/5 reviews!!! You SHOULD be ashamed for the way this hotel is run but after listening to you rant and give unacceptable excuses I truly believe you really donât give a damn. Choice hotels should have fired you seemingly a long time ago. Why they donât is reflected on them. I also noticed that my 1st review is no where to be found. Canât blame you for hiding it though. I think you are a thief and a terrible businessman. How you got this position is beyond me. Choice hotel must be desperate for managers. And maybe there next time you choose to rant at your customers with your heavy deep accent, I suggest you slow down and and learn to enunciate the english language properly. Also, God gave each person TWO ears and One mouth. They should be used accordingly! Once you started talking, I could hardly get a word in edgewise. I will be following up with...
Read moreComfort Inn & Suites Vernal is a decent hotel with the standard amenities you would expect for your price. Our most significant issues during our stay: The hot tub was not working but down for maintenance and wouldn't work for our entire stay. I've had this happen on more than one occasion at hotels in Vernal, so I'd check with them a day or two before your expected visit to see if it is working or not. The other gripe is our room's smoke alarm started chirping every 15 seconds just before 10pm. This is a feature of smoke alarms to let you know the batteries need to be changed. We called the front desk, and they mentioned that they don't know where the ladder is nor the batteries to change them. Our only options were to move rooms, which we didn't want to do as our children were already in bed going to sleep, or to try and fix it ourselves or deal with it. Because we really didn't want to switch rooms, I decided the best option was to stand on the dresser and remove the battery, thus removing the sound and removing the safety that the smoke alarm provides. Is this a big deal? No, but I think this is something that the front desk should be able to fix quickly. Simply a ladder, battery, and 2 minutes to change, and you're good to go. Our favorite thing about this hotel: The continental breakfast. It isn't anything overly special, but it has one, and you don't have to worry about figuring out breakfast. We don't spend much time at our hotel, so we don't need much else. We did take advantage of the workout room and pool. The workout room is fine. The treadmill wasn't working, but they did have an elliptical that worked. The biggest bummer about the workout room is there are no free weights. I would go back to this hotel, but I would make sure the hot tub/pool worked. If not, I'd spend a bit more for another hotel with a continental breakfast and similar amenities. On a side note, I noticed they allow dogs, and multiple people stayed with dogs. If that is something you'd need, this...
Read moreFirst, I don't understand the 5 star ratings being submitted for this property. Our experience was significantly less than that!||We booked this property because it was advertised as the newest hotel in Vernal and because it's pet friendly. Unfortunately, the property is severely run down, understaffed and very costly for pet owners.||The property needs significant repair/upgrading. Doors and rooms need painting, the window in our room was dirty and had a large crack in it. One of the lights in the bathroom did not work and the door to the bathroom had a significant, loud squeak. Corridor carpeting looked dated and dirty. Outside trash receptacles at the hotel entrance were overflowing when we arrived at 3:30pm. It appears there was a (recent) roof replacement as pieces of shingles littered sidewalk areas in the front and rear of the property.||The property was severely understaffed. The hot breakfast chafing dishes were empty long before the posted breakfast closing time and I asked the person at the front desk if she could get someone to refill them. I was told she was the only person available and left the desk for over 10 minutes to take care of my request. While she was gone, several guests attempted to check out and had to wait for her return. When we checked out, the front desk was unattended again. Fortunately, we'd had our folio printed when we checked in so we could leave without further assistance.||This dog friendly property came at a high price - $25 per pet, per night with no additional amenities like grassy areas for walking available. ||I completed a Choice Hotels survey indicating the same problems and received a boilerplate "sorry we didn't exceed your expectations" response from the Manager. I know this was a canned response as I saw the same message on other negative survey submissions on their website.||I don't expect quick resolutions to any of these problems soon. I'd avoid stays at this property...
