We stayed here a few weeks ago on a family trip to Steamboat expecting a really nice location based on past reviews and recommendations from friends. Although I will say that the unit we stayed in was very nice—decorated well with a fully stocked kitchen—the cleanliness of the place made it very hard to enjoy our stay. When we arrived, the place was extremely dirty and was not prepared for our visit. The floors were caked in dust (did a floor wipe and it came up fully brown on a white paper towel), the countertops unclean, there was trash underneath the couches, the side tables and couches were full of dust, and some of the beds were unclean as well (found some hairs in them). When we went outside to go to the jacuzzi on the deck of our unit, there were tons of small white solids floating in the water, the chlorine had not been replaced, there were bugs in the water, and none of the buttons worked on the jacuzzi to operate any functions. On top of all of this, there was only soap in a few bathrooms, and the soaps that were there had about 1/8 of a bottle left. There was no sponge provided in the kitchen either. On top of this, the BBQ didn’t work and was left unclean until we complained enough times.
Although the grounds were beautiful, and the setup of the unit was perfect for our stay, we were very disappointed with the status of the unit. After days of calling—with no response—management only got back to us on the last day of our trip. They sent a cleaner in the second day to wipe up the floors, but nothing else was cleaned. This meant that we had a dirty jacuzzi, dirty sheets, no BBQ, dusty couches, almost no soap, and countless other issues for all of our stay. It was incredibly frustrating to contact the management time and time again with absolutely no reply and almost no consideration for the fact that we were paying guests at their resort. Especially during COVID-19 when we would hope that things would be cleaner and more thought out. We wish that the situation was handled better so that we could fully feel comfortable and “at home” during our stay.
Regardless, Steamboat Springs is an amazing place and I highly recommend you visit. Just...
Read moreTo start with the positive, Trappeur's had wonderful rooms. I chose them as my location to bring in the guests for my wedding and most people really enjoyed the ability to share condos and really liked the space. We wanted an intimate, family feel to our wedding and people staying together helped create bonding among the guests and a really vacation for most. So the spaces themselves are great. However, Trappeur's was perhaps the only vendor that I used for the entire wedding that I had trouble with, and I had a lot of trouble. In the year from when I booked them to used them, staff rotated at least 4 times. I wasn't always informed of this and had literally months where my communication went to an unchecked email and voicemail box. When I would finally get back in touch with someone, they would take care of it, but then it would break down again. Then the homeowners decided to have some people switch management company to Simply Steamboat (SS) and some stay with Wyndham (W). As HOA President in my community, these homeowners could not have made a worse decision--they needed to pick one or other. Some of my guests were in SS rooms, some in W rooms. Originally this meant people would have to go to different places to check-in and that could mean one family renting two rooms would have different procedures! To their credit both companies came together for my event and made check-in happen in the lobby, but this is not how they will do it from here on out. I rented the conference room for a brunch event and it wasn't set up. I had trouble with people getting overcharged and incorrect things happening left and right that I had to constantly go back and discuss again and again. I choose Trappeur's because the rooms are nicer and more affordable than many of the condos around and The Grand. However, for a group event, I would not recommend that anyone choose them. It was super challenging and stressful to work with them. For hotel rooms, this shouldn't be the case--that should be an easy item on a wedding to-do list. There are other places in town that are better prepared to handle groups. I would recommend you go...
Read moreWe have enjoying staying here for many years. Sadly, the resort is declining. The pool and hot tubs at the amenity center are in poor repair. The staff cannot communicate with residents or visitors or solve problems. Worse, they lie. Upon checking in, we found the ice tray had no ice and nothing coming out of the ice maker. I called the front desk to find out where I could get ice, and the answer was there was none to be had. Three days later, the resort put on the Thursday soiree with plenty of ice for the coolers. Next, we came back from a day in town only to find the two working hottubs (out of three) were tepid with no water circulation. They were simply turned off. Well, trying to make lemonade, we soaked in tepid water until maintenance guy finally came by at 10 pm. I told him about the problem, he gave me a number to call (the resort booking number). The next day, the front desk called my wife to say the hottubs are working. I went down and saw they were still turned off, then went into the office and confronted the clerk. Soon after, pool guy shows up, puts his hand in the water, then gets onto his phone. A while later, manager guy show up, opens a door and finds that the circuit breakers had been turned off from the say before. Well, front desk lady then starts calling my wife to say there had been issues with the circuit breakers going on and off and "they were working on it all morning." Lies, lies,...
